Yeah, we have this funny tendency to pass stupid and impossible to enforce laws here in Europe. Guess the real world is too complicate to legislate for.
  2. Yep. Just another bullcrap excuse to have the player start off without a lightsaber and no Force powers. Yeah, in Mysteries of the Sith, Kyle falls to the Dark Side for no good reason, other than give Mara Jade something to do in her spare time. Except for that weak spot in the plot, the expansion pack is quite cool.
  3. I'm too sexy for this thread.
  4. Welcome back man, hope everything worked out all right.
  5. Aww... this thread isn't fuzzy enough for ol' Launchie. I wish Funsworth was here. He'd know how to cheer things up for sure! French editor fired for reprinting the cartoons Hooray for standing by freedom of press.
  6. It's like... crappy. Except for vehicles, it's a 1-hit-kill system. That works well for the weaker units around the map, but it kills any semblance of dueling with other players. The parrying system really sucks, too, and the most complex combo you can do is a 3-hit forward one. The Force is limited to push, pull, choke, lightning, and saber throw, but you can't have more than two of those at any given time. Even the old Jedi Power Battles for the PSOne was awesome compared to this. Well, come think of it, that game was awesome, with the 2 player coop mode and all. This has to be the first positive comment I've ever seen about that game. I haven't tried it myself, but I was rather pissed when it was official it would not be out for the PC. Oh well...
  7. For all its faults, the JO/JA combat system is like light years ahead of BFII's. And it's impossible to have anything resembling Jedi duels in that game. It's more like "the first to connect wins". The game does feature playable Jedi, but PvP Jedi combat leaves quite a lot to be desired. Does JK need to evolve? Sure. Just not into a RPG.
  8. Making the only online-capable Jedi action game into a KotOR-style single player RPG? I doubt "most would welcome it". No, that's not the NJO era. That's the "New Republic Era". The NJO has the New Republic crumbling and the unspeakably lame Vong roaming around and causing trouble and being overall meanies. Suckage. Outcast is the best, story-wise. And it's not such a big deal. JKA is probably the best from the action standpoint, but no game in the series is too movie-like when it comes to lightsaber combat. It's more like dancing around the opponents and throwing blows at the air in front of them than actual fencing. It has quite hefty amounts of rolling and jumping, too.
  9. Yeah, OK. I didn't catch your meaning the first time. I thought you were trying to hint that freedom of speech had been abused in this case. I agree with you, then.
  10. Thanks for pointing out the obvious. Now, to go along with the trend, let me remind you that harassment is a punishable offense by law. The same with discrimination when it applies to serious, tangible stuff, such as job applications. If it's been dismissed by the prosecutor, it's neither harassment nor discrimination. And yeah, discrimination is a terrible thing. Maybe if they stopped segregating themselves, it could go a long way towards easing up frictions.
  11. Cinderella Man. T'was OK, but with each subsequent movie I watch with Russell Crowe in it, the less confidence I have on him as an actor.
  12. Yeah, and that would have the advantages of letting down the entire JK fanbase, and be set in the craptastic NJO era. YAY! Suits LA's recent business strategy. With the added bonus of assuming that the annoying sidekick with the weird hairdo was met with a gruesome end!
  13. That's what we get for sticking our finger in the US' eye at each chance we get.
  14. Yeah. I said before that the notion of what is "distasteful" is subjective, when you said you considered them so. What I didn't say, even though it's pretty obvious, is that my own stance is also subjective. I was just offering an opposite opinion to yours, not trying to counter it, as I don't think it's possible. The problem I see is that, as ~Di said, our tolerance threshold towards the muslim world seems to exceed by far what we would consider acceptable for pretty much everyone else. Once they stop behaving like barbarians, then maybe we will treat them as equals. Yes, Colrom. There is a very distinct "us" from "them" here. Compare their reaction to ours and tell me it's not true.
  15. Actually, they did:
  16. That's a possibility. There's also a possibility that the PC is a hairy dwarf, too.
  17. I don't know about Danish papers, but over here we have that daily. Apparently you haven't bothered to read enough to know that this whole business started because somebody actually couldn't find any artist that wanted to depict Muhammad, for an unrelated publication. And in that case, they weren't going to be caricatures. This wasn't a calculated attack at the muslim community for no apparent reason. Yeah, playing martyr is always a good trick. Where harm is actually caused. As I said, jurisprudence has those limits clearly laid out.
  18. Yep. Say whatever I please. I believe that's freedom of speech. The "doing" part of your statement is an obvious trap I'm not going to fall for, heh. If you limit freedom of speech based on any notion of what is right and what is wrong, it doesn't matter if you do it under the name of censorship, political correctness, or decency. And see? We are debating freedom of speech. The chance of listening to things that may offend us, from time to time, is the burden we must accept in exchange for freedom of speech. Obviously, it's not boundless. Like any other freedom it can be abused to bring harm to others. That's the point where regular justice takes over. But arguing that saying things that may offend other people is actually harming them is somewhat demagogic. Again, you are using subjective terms. It's distasteful to you, but it does not look that way to me. And what so many jackasses believe isn't really my business, but certainly reducing the extent of freedom of speech isn't going to improve on their situation in the least.
  19. I am so not going to comment on that.
  20. And still, here we are, thriving as a race. Until humankind destroys itself, your argument is absurd. And when we do, then nobody will be left alive to listen to it. Sorry, you lose.
  21. Yeah, you tell that to all the Jedi that died in RotS. And if you hate SW so much, why the hell are you posting in a thread about SW?
  22. Uh... since the other thread was locked, I'm going to address a few points, in a civilized, non-inflammatory way. As much as I'm able to, anyway. The fact that we are even mentioning freedom of speech speaks for itself. And while you might think that freedom of speech wins hands down, that doesn't mean everyone (and I'm not talking about muslims here) agrees. Because you don't like it? That's within the realm of political correctness now. Not saying anything that might be considered deriding other people's beliefs. Not even admitting to thinking it. Sorry, I already said there is nothing untouchable for me when it comes to ideas or beliefs, so I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, as you haven't supplied a single argument to support the argument that I shouldn't ridicule other people's beliefs, or that my own beliefs shouldn't be ridiculed. The thing is, if somebody for whatever reason ridicules my beliefs, I examine them to see if there's any semblance of sense in what they are saying. If there's not, I just disregard the attack. People need to grow a thicker skin. I could say the exact opposite, and the statement wouldn't lose a grain of validity. There's no way we could know, unless such survey was carried out. Eh? Somewhere back there I lost you, it seems. I wasn't promoting or even suggesting censorship. And there's no way in hell you could compare these cartoons to pornography, as pornography may have an adverse effect on children, as some psychologists argue. Or that's the official excuse for restricting it, anyway. Arguing the same for these cartoons is nonsense. I eagerly await your enlightened comments on the matter - if you can put aside the trolling for a second, that is. Reality disagrees with you.
  23. Wow. I had no idea. For once, I feel proud... Thanks, I've been wanting to use it for some time. It's not as swasti-tastik as I'd like, but oh well. You can't have everything I guess. Well, terrorist threats have been proven to work in the past. Why shouldn't they now?
