  1. Xen was pretty boring, but I thought Nihilanth (telepatically?) taunting you all the way up to the final fight was pretty cool. I liked both that fight and the ending with the G-Man... but to each his own. On the other hand, HL2's ending was like the rest of that game's story: non-existant. Yeah. Not so much convoluted as it was just lame. I think that's a good example of why writers need to stay clear of hallucinogens during creative processes. The last third of the game shifted focus from story and social interaction to combat, which caused that last 3rd to be pretty crappy. The endings proper were all awesome though, and 100% in line with what you would expect from the old WoD setting. It's one of my personal favorites. wait what
  2. You know those are magnetic fields how?
  3. That sucks. The same happened to me when I went out and bought the SW d20 core book and 3 supplements... Oh well.
  4. The OE boards' function isn't to further freedom of speech, bring down old taboos, or make the world a better place overall. You can do that elsewhere, and you'll most likely achieve better results, anyway. Fio told me that "some members" had "expressed their concern" about me using a very similar avatar, so yeah.
  5. You go ahead and try... but I almost got the ban for trying exactly that. I went a bit further, even, and used this nice 1920's postcard as my sig. Fio was unimpressed, and I was issued an official warning.
  6. This seems to imply that you think the war was a failure. Please, explain how so.
  7. What, a war in which people actually die? Are you kidding me? *shock*
  8. It's a pre-render, so it's pretty much animated concept art... I'm not shelling out $500 (400? whatever) just to play one game. *unless it does feature an awesome co-op mode, that is...
  9. Awesome trailer. This is the excuse to replay TSL I've been looking for...
  10. "Saddam Hussein Goes to Meet Allah" That's the title of the thread, in case your half a brain can't follow a discussion AND remember what it's about. Discussing the involvement of the US in this case might be justified, but discussing the US and its policies in general outside of Iraq (and outside this incident) is not the scope of the thread. You want to discuss the US, it's fine. Go start a thread about it, I'll be sure to participate. But don't hijack this one.
  11. Because it's not the scope of the thread, and it invariably ends in flames. )
  12. They hate each other, and this is another reason that will be used to raise children in sectarian hatred. Are you familiar with the concept of martyr? As per usual, Volo misses the point completely. The finality of a judicial system is twofold: to impart justice (which has undoubtedly been served in this case, and is not what I was disputing), and to establish an organism that, by means of a formal set of proceedings guarantees equality (at a legal level at least) between all members of the community. Without this, we just get back to "the end justifies the means". Neither of these facets is more important than the other, as they both are needed for a fair judicial system to exist. In this case, it is the proceedings that are under suspicion. The establishment of a credible judicial system is one of the first and most important tasks a new government must complete if a stable, credible democracy is to be achieved. This case is a perfectly good example of the opposite. But I guess all these subtleties mean nothing to you. It's so much easier to adopt a gung-ho attitude of "all bad guys must die!", and go to sleep thinking that the world is a better place with one less genocidal dictator. Sweet dreams, Volo.
  13. Well... this is what I found. If they can live up to their rep, they may yet come up with something interesting.
  14. Well, you wouldn't allow Unabomber to run for Congress either, now would you? Are you really that ignorant, or are you twisting facts on purpose? The Palestinian Hamas-led government has proven unable to unite and govern Palestine on its own merits, as it has failed to normalize political relations with the other primary political force of the country, Fatah. But then again, if they had, they would have proven they aren't as fundamentalist as they claim, and would therefore caused a big let down in many of their voters. Such is the nature of fundies. At any rate, Hamas' case is a purely internal one. The US had nothing to do with it.
  15. Why, they obviously did it on purpose, to upset you.
  16. Bad news. Unexpected, too. However, his execution won't bring back the dead to them. It will, however, stir up more ethnic violence. It's also a great example of how the Shi'ite community isn't in any way above their Sunni neighbors, what with that mockery of a trial and all... I guess they were all to anxious to get his loot.
  17. Do you find that thought arousing?
  18. They are insane, but I'm not sure about their derangement-derived wisdom and insights. They removed Dementation as well. In one word, suckage.
