  1. That particular autosave doesn't reproduce the issue :'( 1 AM here, gonna try and reproduce from a fresh game tomorrow during lunch break. Self-ref steps to follow to try and repro : - create PC - quicksave on the WORLD MAP - get into fight with super OP barbarian/monk laguafeth - pause during combat (possibly while the sound effect in question is being played ?!! ) - quickload (hopefully it fails to quickload; I hope so, guessing the quickload actually runs a cleanup routine first, including currently running sounds) - sound problem should happen As a rule of thumb and coming from the same background as you guys (well, I'm systems/networks but you get the idea), if I provide neither save nor clear repro steps, I've sadly been unable to repro :'( As a side note, another player has encountered an issue with similar symptoms, as in sound effect playing over and over again, even in menus : https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/94676-sound-glitch/
  2. Whatcha mean not infinity ? AMG, nerfs already ! Joke aside, it is my understanding that mousing over the duration now shows the total damage done during said duration. Seeing how Gouging Strike applies raw damage until combat ends, it makes sense the tooltip should say infinity, or some indication that the damage will tick forever.
  3. Well, 2 confirmed (as in, confirmed by me ) locations are the Beach with the OP-as-fsck laguafeth, and the Foothills with Chief echo whatever. Edit: censorship filter mistakenly mistook the nickname I gave the barbarian/monk monstrosity as offensive.
  4. There are a couple things to keep in mind, lore-wise : First, Eothas got rekt in an explosion, so while flames are the domain of Magran, the guy kinda has a theme going for him :D Second, Eothas got rekt in an explosion, so whi...
  5. Problem with that (and racial bonii) is that you get pigeonholed into picking this race + this culture to min-max. Now granted, not all of us minmax, and yet it's a fact, and it's happening right now. Mayhap an alternative would be to allow for the selection of a background (skill bonii) and a special training (like, you were a soldier, or you were a thief as a child cause you needed to eat whatever) after one chooses a race. Sacrifice realism for flexibility.
  6. And not the summoned weapons it should be noted cause the fights done when you finish casting lol. Granted Evocation tends to always be like that broken or useless. The pen doesn't help of course. There's news on the Pen front, bois https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/94716-beta-patch-info-from-joshs-twitter/
  7. From a systems admin guy's point of view, my reflex would be to say "when it's ready, if it's ready, when I'm up to it, if I'm ever up to it"
  8. Of course they're listening bro This is Obsidian. We're talking about the guys who sent out a survey about DLCs. Please re-read this and consider fully the implications here. They are the guys who played with us, who shed blood with us, in an era when games didn't have DLCs, they had actual, full-of-content addons where what you paid for actually had metric shlt tons of value. ( <--- come on now, why do I need to bypass the censorship for the excrement word ? ) They are the guys who took the bull by the horns and had the balls to ask players what their stance on DLCs is, in a society where minimal content for $5 seems to be the norm (hello Warhammer total war blood and gore DLC ?). A+++ , would buy again.
  9. Bro, it looks gorgeous
  10. OMFG get out of my internets ^^
  11. Yup, use your wizard as a CC/debuff machine and you'll avoid the Pen issue entirely \o/ One of the huge arguments in favour of Ciphers in POE1 was spammable CC (well, spammable spells in general to be fair). Now that wizards also get per-encounter spells (if not spammable, still a good start), in the game's current state, you're better off using them either as multis as per @Boeroer 's suggestion, or as CC/debuffers as per mine
  12. Bros, the idea is both good and sound. It does raise however, the question of how buffs and debuffs are displayed ingame. From an UI and UX standpoint, both BG, NWN, POE and Tyranny did a terrible job of showing this information. There have been, from my personal point of view, way too few UATs WRT this critical feedback loop on game mechanics and user information. I'm afraid I do not have a really good suggestion on the matter at the moment. Community, unite. By our powers combined, let's come up with something realistic and which would fit our needs. Obsidian, your time to shine bros. Eeeeerrrm... oopsie... so yeah I used tons of acronyms, let's go over them 'cause I'm nice like that BG: Baldur's Gate (and the whole infinity engine series actually) NWN: neverwinter nights UI: user interface UAT: user acceptance test UX: user experience WRT: with regards to
  13. This is like a custom adventurer for the beta, not a companion or sidekick, right? Yeah. Beta party is filled by a generic fighter, rogue, wizard, and priest. No real companions. Well to be fair, it's more of a balance issue really. You get a tank, a healer/support, a high single target dps (lol penetration), and an aoe damage (lol penetration as well)/crowd control. They're merely tools to support your PC. Edit: forgot the lol mention on the rogue "high dps" :D
  14. Corrected. If we're gonna compare, let's compare evenly. Confident Aim works only with your chosen weapons, which may or may not be vastly outclassed by this one OP weapon late game, for which you evidently didn't spec.
  15. well, just one example: it would be ridiculous op when stacked with barbarian weapon focus. HA! Good Fun! A fist proficiency just mean it gets a modal like they other weapon proficiency. barbarian weapon focus applies to any weapon with which you are proficient. monks already got a built-in accuracy bonus with fists which increases with leveling. have monk fists Not count as proficient prevents excessive accuracy with fists when multiclassing with a barbarian and taking weapon focus. Accuracy is a vastly inferior stat to penetration, until : - you reach a threshold that lets you crit consistently AND - your penetration + 50% from crit overcomes the enemy DR What good is hitting, if you're gonna hit for 5 damage ? Not much good, is what it's gonna be.
  16. The approach is debatable. If you're a newcomer, you're going to get a bonus to a stat you have no idea has what effect on the game.
  17. I'm confused, what part of POE2 solves the problem of this or that culture affecting this or that attribute ? You still get +1 MIG from Rauatai, or +1 INT from Old Vaila.
  18. Nuh uh. At the start of combat (and given combat's current speed), I'm way too busy positioning my frontline so my DPS and support chars won't get rekt
  19. This post contains links to existing threads about class balance, mechanics changes and early feedback. This post is not meant for actual discussion of these topics, only to redirect you there. CLASSES - chanters - ciphers and another thread about ciphers, in the non-beta forum - multiclassing guide (video, weeee) - monks (and the lack of unarmed attack weapon proficiency) - priests (and upcoming update, no more restricted spells, bonus spells based on deity !) - rangers - rogues - wizards GAME MECHANICS - action speed - afflictions (old thread, newer thread) - backstabbing - combat speed (and the removal of slowmo) - culture (and bonus stat point) - damage calculation (for clarification purposes, this is a bug report, please do NOT spam this thread, open a new one if needed), and other formula - difficulty (in the game's current state) - engagement (and disengagement attacks, and the mechanic's usefulness) - general talents (and their removal, and their possible return) - health vs health + endurance - injuries, thug life - injury system overhaul - penetration (and upcoming changes to it) - racial traits (and clarification on affliction resistance) - spell casting in general - traps MISCELLANEOUS - beta best builds (powergame the hell out of this) - beta worst builds (powergame reverse mode) - console commands (it's not really cheating, right... ?) - custom portraits (kay so it's a pinned topic but hey, you're reading this... , Aramintai seems to be open to custom requests if you ask nice and sweet) - mod to add gold, and items on the merchant - training dummies (how to spawn one with the console) - walk toggle ( 'cause RP and implementation !) SUGGESTIONS - todo: compile list of suggestions which have received the most reactions/feedback If you've started or seen a thread about this or that particular class (or multiclass), please do tell, that I may add it
  20. IDK, 30% chance to be defeated by penetration/armor again seems kinda meh, in the current state of things. On paper it looks absolutely gorgeous. In reality, it sucks donkey balls by the dozen thanks to Pen. Edit: clarification
  21. Traditionally (not POE1 per se), with per-rest systems and truly limited resting, wizards/druids/etc are limited in how many times they can cast spells. A fighter can swing his sword 1000 times over the day Erm, so it's realistic for the wizard to be limited in how many times he can call upon the Weave (or rest), but the fighter can, quote, swing his sword 1k times over the day ? Bitch better have mechanical arms cause he oughta be tiring at some point...
  22. Not at all. They had Inspiring Radiance right from the start (if you wished) which gave +10 ACC (stacked with everything, even another Inspiring Radiance). They also could have Interdiction + Painful Interdiction. Note that these were talents which are now gone. :/ And of cours one of my favorite lvl-2-spells: Iconic Projection which wa great because it only had to overcome 1/4 of DR and was a superfast cast. Then at spell tier 4 there's the best spell: Devotions that stacks with universal ACC buffs like Disciplined Barrage... and so on... Now the best priest buff suddenly is Dire Blessing because it gives the whole party the ability to graze. That sounds so lame but is so powerful. Yeah, no. First, it doesn't give the ability to the whole party, it gives it to those in the area of effect, so you're gonna have to position properly. Second, it's absolutely wasted on some select classes with this or that ability (hello fighters ?).
  23. There's gonna be huge checks and restrictions WRT importing characters. Otherwise even with content scaling, importing a wizard who knows every spell means that you'll only need to pickup the few extra, new POE2-only spells et voila.
