  1. Damage worked out guys.
  2. New try, this time on a flanked target, which means Sneak Attack qualifies (if it is applied to raw damage at all). 85 focus, 116.2 damage (for reference, an earlier look at 51 focus listed 75 raw damage) Regular hit lists +245.1 raw damage. Log detail lists the following modifiers : +21% might (stat at 17) (which iirc is multiplicative after all other bonii) +20% fine saber (sharp) +15% fine saber (fine) +50% sneak attack +40% biting whip Okay so we're supposed to get what... (116.2 * ( 1 + 0.2 + 0.15 + 0.5 + 0.4)) * 1.21 (might is already accounted for in the ability's raw damage display) = 116.2 * 2.25 = 261.45 , yeah that's not it. Let's try without stacking Saber bonii, you never know. 116.2 * 2.10 = 244.02 , that is not it either. The thing is, our first try at 261.45 could be it, as a matter of fact if for some reason the game thought we had a bit less focus available. Soul Annihilation listed 116.2 but that was at 85 focus. Let us assume the engine removes the 5 focus activation cost first, then applies multipliers to our remaining damage. We're looking at 245.1 / 2.25 = 108.9333 damage from the ability. The number looks realistic at 80 usable focus. If we remove our 21% bonus from might like so : 108.9333 / 1.21 , we get 90.0275 which starts resembling very much two well-known variables. 90.0275 = 10 (base ability damage) + 80 (usable focus after paying the 5 focus activation cost) + 0.0275 (get the fck out of my math you're ruining everything) The number also looks realistic at 75 listed damage for 51 focus. 75 / 1.21 = 61.9834 = 10 base + 51 focus + 0.9834 (I'm thinking the game shows 51 focus, but I'm actually much closer to having 52 and the display is rounded) Yeah tell you what, that's got to be it. Soul Annihilation's formula is ((10 + (current_focus - 5) * (1 + might_bonus%)) raw damage or : (current focus + 5) * (1 + might mod) This number then gets multiplied by all your other bonii excluding might. It does not however, benefit from Pen >> Armor , for one or both of two reasons : 1/ it is considered a lash-like effect (lightning strikes from monks for example), which are currently bugged (unless it's intentional for them as well) in this respect. 2/ it is raw damage and is excluded from penetration maths from the get go. Okay, all things said and done, I submit that : 1/ the damage displayed in the ability tooltip is incorrect by an offset of +5 2/ the ability description should be updated to state that this damage benefits from all applicable multipliers (sneak, assassinate, biting whip, weapon quality...)
  3. Yeah nope, something is not right. Listed damage : Dealt damage :
  4. It would seem the Soulblade's Soul Annihilation lists (or deals) incorrect damage. I had 72 focus. I have 17 might which is +21% damage. I also get +10% from cipher power levels. The ability listed it would do 100 (I'm rounding, it was 101, or 100.7, or 103 whatever) damage. I hit a beetle and dealt some weapon damage, + 209 raw damage. This is consistent with the earlier report mentioning the 5 focus drain instead of whole pool, which also states there may be a problem wrt damage. Edit: solution + math below, the damage listed in the ability is off by 5, the ability needs to state it benefits from damage multipliers excluding might which is already factored in the initial display.
  5. Aside from an obviously erroneous display of "-1100% Recovery", the item Mead also lists Accuracy vs. Deflection.
  6. The consumable item Lager, which may be used when resting, lists "-1 Perception, +2 Might | Accuracy vs. Deflection". Does the item provide a bonus to accuracy attacks vs deflection and if so how much ? Or is it simply an erroneous description ? Edit: list of items : - Lager - Mead - Grog I see an alcohol-based theme developing here...
  7. Guys, we're chatting here. You don't need to play it with current existing friends, you can make new ones here and get the opportunity to discover new people ^^
  8. The thing is, I very rarely run paladin cohorts (or PCs), so I mostly rely on Blind or like effects. It helps, of course it does, and yet running a rogue has been and remains to this day, in most RPGs, a micromanagement intense experience
  9. Cheating is such an ugly word... Balthazar was... misunderstood.
  10. Hello guys, While we're all having pangs of nostalgia over the old Infinity Engine games, I'd like to raise the topic of multiplayer. Now, bear with me, keep reading, don't get replying just yet if you please. If I remember correctly, the community is quite divided wrt this very topic of having multiplayer in POE. The main argument that often came up was "it's going to divert resources" or "it's going to delay the game", or even "rather a good single player game than a bad multi". Those are all points I definitely can get behind, there is no question here. Nay what I'd like to discuss is the addition of multiplayer after the release. It has been done, and recently too. Games such as Craft the World or Don't Starve added multiplayer post-release. Why would I even want multiplayer ? Bros, one of the things I regret most about PoE is not being able to share it with someone else. Thoughts ? Would you like to see coop multiplayer ? I, like you all, do not wish to see the game's release or quality compromised, that's for sure. I would love however, to see a multiplayer addition later on !
  11. It heals like 150 endurance a tick by endgame if you spec high might and equip +healing items, that's way better than anything you can get from any helmet. Checking in my screenshots I found one I took that sort of proves my previous statement, the wing slam was fully negated by silver tide. It's from my only finished Ironman PotD run. [snip image] Though it seems heavily nerfed in PoE2 so far, and probably not worth the loss of a helmet. I must say, I'm impressed. Not by the 150/tick number, although that is quite the feat by itself, no. I'm impressed that you'd run ironman PotD with the vanilla characters. Respect.
  12. I've had my share of sorcerer playthroughs as well, in the end I'd always end up picking the same spells and I would experience very little variety, so after a time it got old. It was very frustrating not being able to learn more spells. I mean, sorcerers have their uses, that is a given, you have more flexibility, you can adapt on the spot. After the 2k hours threshold though, you tend to know what spells you'll need for what part of the game, so mages having to commit them to memory isn't as much of an issue Besides, you do get to play fighter from time to time for a little change. Haste, Black Blade of Bye Bye, Tenser's, poof... Aaah, those were the days <3
  13. What about damage spikes ? I've had, in POE2, the mercenary fighter go down in a *single hit* , I repeat, a *single hit* because my Monk redirected (turning hand) a melee attack to him. If it wasn't a single hit (it's kinda hard to tell, battle speed as it is), it occured in the space of a single second, couldn't do a thing. After one has done his share of raiding in Vanilla WoW, one learns to become wary of damage spikes in RPGs Your MT goes down, the fight's over 8/10 times.
  14. Now, I find you a bit unfair here ! First of all, BG one featured Drizzt, whom you had the option to either assist or attack, a Ranger of great renown Second, while the arch-nemesis of BG2 SOA was indeed a mage, TOB introduced more diverse bosses, we had a monk, we had a dark elf priestess with a multi-stage fight, we had a dragon... Hell, I found the fight against Balthazar to be amongst the hardest in the game to be honest. Same as with POE1 if I'm going to be honest, there's nothing I fear more than enemy Monks in fights. They abbey of the rose in WM2 is the part I "dislike" the most. Dislike isn't the right term but I can't seem to find the appropriate word, it's just that these fights are so much more challenging than any other.
  15. I played BG2, and my first complete playthrough was as a pure sorc. However, I never bothered with that except for the liches. Mostly I just nuked the melee then dogpiled the casters. Inelegant and inefficient, but successful. I was more an adept of... ah, let's say, clean dispatches here. No messy fireballs or blobs of acid. I'd resort to feeblemind, polymorph, imprisonment, disintegrate or the occasional finger of death. No blood, no mess, no fuss. Clean, professional style
  16. Yeah no, except for Guardian Stance and the Unbroken passive which seem both very good, I see nothing else exceptional here. You're still going to need a fighter with : - maxed resolve - maxed constitution - maxed perception if you want to land your disengagement attacks Disciplined Barrage just doesn't work in this scenario, because it only lasts 15 seconds and you have no idea whenever a unit is going to try and disengage. So unless you keep it up the whole fight (preventing you from using Vigorous Defense), it just won't do. A minmaxed Coastal Aumaua (for the knockdown resist) comes at : - 10 might - 18 con - 3 dex - 18 per - 10 int (I don't want to dump this, otherwise Prone won't last as long) - 19 resolve Now granted, the guy is really tanky, more so than the generic fighter, that's cool. However : - he's a one trick pony - he won't hit that hard (well, can't have everything) - and very importantly: engaged enemies can still target your melee dps , my rogue got smashed in the face by an enemy that was already engaged by my MT, which is normal, he was in range The build's cool though, if I ever went for a MT PC, I'd probably use an Unbroken, or Unbroken/Monk.
  17. I'm confused, wherever does Barbaric Yell grand 3 more engagement slots ? Here it says "leaves foes shaken" (-5 resolve, -3 all power levels) Edit: ok, it's in the upgraded version
  18. No. You didn't study the fighter ability tree properly I guess... That's one spot-on guess, kindly allow me to do so right now, that I may apprehend the situation better
  19. There is no use debating speculation, which we are doing right now. Let's all wait for the next update and debate the facts instead guys, to be honest. I suspect it'll be much more productive, and much less frustrating, for all of us. Edit: somehow managed to link to the wrong post
  20. Aye, and some are bound to go through unfixed on to the release. When you're working with hundreds, thousands of objects, there's bound to be mistakes
  21. This thread aims at providing testers with an easy reference for "bugs" regarding missing or incorrect icons for skills, abilities, portraits, items, spells... The goal is for us to easily check for duplicates, creating less false positives on Obsidian's end, ultimately improving our life, their life, and the quality of the end product. This thread is not meant for suggestions, please post these in the backer beta discussion forum. This thread is not meant either for missing strings, TEMP descriptions, or character drawing issues (shapeshift then open your inventory to get an example). The reports as sorted alphabetically, like so: category - title Seeing how this thread is meant for all of us, if this system doesn't work for you please do tell, that we may improve on it. INCORRECT ICON MISSING ICON - ABILITY - Conjurer special spell (summon familiar) (no link, but has been reported) - ABILITY - Soul Annihilation - ABILITY - Transmuter special spell (ogre club has no icon) (no link, but has been reported) - EFFECT - Immunity to disease - ITEM - Armor of shapeshift fury druid has no icon - ITEM - Baubles of the Fin - ITEM - Desert Wurm Hatchling - ITEM - Medical Supplies - ITEM - Repair Supplies - ITEM - Worn Robe Did you post a new report, or find one that eluded me (especially in those not-very-practical "list of bugs I found" threads) ? Be kind enough to post it here, and I'll do my best to keep the list updated
  22. Already reported, Wormerine Also, bug still present in POE1 :|
  23. Play LeBlanc, Ekko and Camille much ?
  24. By the way, can psychic + brutal backlash still perma stunn some enemies? Or is there a per encounter limit? At the moment, there are no dragons or banshees in the beta, but some enemies use will attacks (e.g. confusion). If the charm spell hits, does it hit a party member instead of the enemy? back on topic:Can you use the soul blade special attack from invisibility for the maximum overkill backstab? I'm confused, you make it seem as if Psychic Backlash in POE1 did not have a 1/encounter limit ? Would you please clarify ? And yes, you can use the Soul Annihilation from stealth to augment your backstab. You deal your backstab + assassination damage, and a flat amount of raw damage. You're roughly critting in the 120-170 range at level 6. You one shot the broodmother, but not the barbarian/monk laguafeth chieftain.
