  1. As a preamble, please, let's stick to the topic at hand and not derail this into a balance / buff / nerf thread. There are other, much more appropriate threads just for that. Thank you for your consideration and keeping the thread on its rails. I'll start bros So far, and with the understanding that I only have 180 hours on record, the classes I have not played and why : - barbarian : duh, IDK, I'm just not a huge fan... I think I might give it a try though, possibly with a Rogue, Monk or Cipher multi - ranger : looks boring as f... as hell, just auto-attack and stand there stupidly - fighter : I thoroughly enjoyed my fighter in Dragon Age Origins, in very large part due to the sword and shield style offering such aggressive options as shield bash / shield slam , at last I had a fighter who didn't just stand there stupidly taking hits ! Sadly, that's all he does here in POE2, he stands there stupidly taking hits because he's my main tank... - priest, druid, wizard : I find myself having a very hard time playing classes with a very limited amount of spellcasts per encounter, when I can get a cipher instead and spam 24/7 ! Your turn guys, what are you guilty of not playing, and why ?
  2. Might I suggest Blade Turning, so you have something to spend monk resource on while you're standing there, and you do not get hit so much in melee ?
  3. You seem to be taking this personally, when really there is no reason you should. If you like, we can go through your wishlist together and work from there ? With regards to points 2 and 6, that would seem to be included in patch 3.0.0 With regards to point 7, it looks like a lot of people agree with that, one can only hope Obsidian saw that as well. It might even be more effective if you were to suggest examples of abilities you'd like to see ! I don't know, some kind of holy smite light thingy, or condemnation aura that inflicts damage on whoever strikes the paladin ? With regards to point 1 about POTD balancing in the "mid to late" levels : A/ what do you consider to be mid to late levels ? Is that from level 8 onward ? 13 ? higher ? Does that "mid to late" apply to everyone, or just a subset of classes (say, martial vs casters) ? B/ what is the balance issue you'd like to address ? Are enemies too hard ? Or, I assume, too easy after you've gained some levels and hardware ? What is too easy about them, they get CC'd too easily ? they deal too little damage ? they do not use their skills often enough ? C/ How would you suggest the issue be addressed ? Do you think we need a higher count of enemies ? A higher "class" of enemies ? (say for example, a champion instead of a skirmisher, a high priest instead of a regular priest) Perhaps a bit of both ? Or do you want enemies to have exponentially higher stats, for example defenses or HP ? I trust you can see where I'm going with that, we can easily do the same with your other points. The problem with your wishlist is you ask for subjective things, you're basically being too vague. As the requester, it is your job to ensure that the recipient has all the relevant information they need to work with. They just cannot sit there and try to guess what you wanted in the first place, it just doesn't work. Will you please pick up where you left off, and see if you can add some more detail to what you don't like, why, and how that could be improved ? I'm sure we can have a productive and satisfying discussion here, it's all about putting some effort into it.
  4. Man that's... erm... deep ? ^^ Would you please expand on that, what did you have in mind ?
  5. He has a point, i tend to never trust "early access" and kickstarter stuff. For exemple, i love FALLOUT and damn i won't pre-order anything before release. Did it twice => Dayz was my first and a big mistake, and i learned IMMEDIATLY from it, then did it for Star Citizen a second time, but FULLY KNOWING i wasn't sure that the product will ever finish, so i pledged the smallest amount to get early access stuff & the game, knowing that the "money is gone". I don't expect anything from supporting a someone/a studio on kickstarter or early access stuff, but on the other hand, the backer "reward" transforms into a giant bait to encourage people at pledging more when the devs don't give you what almost everyone was expecting because they played with words. I would respectfully agree to disagree. Obsidian was in financial trouble back before they started the PoE1 kickstarter [1]. In fact, they were in so much trouble they were in jeopardy of closing shop. They did however raise much more money than they had been hoping to achieve, very likely injecting some of the excess funds into The White March, Tyranny and PoE2 among others. If memory serves, I seem to recall that PoE2 was already fully funded before the Fig campaign even began. What I'm getting at is, I cannot believe for a second they did this on purpose, to try and "bait" customers. I truly believe if one game producer knows the value of a strong fan base, it is them. 6. While we're on the topic of ship combat, I have a question... Am I the only one that just rushes to their ship to be in boarding range, not losing a single second to try and shoot at them or anything ?
  7. According to the interwebs [1], this would be the place you want to go : Splintered Reef. Map for convenience [2]. [1] https://steamcommunity.com/app/560130/discussions/0/1696048426811703275/ [2] https://pillarsofeternity2.wiki.fextralife.com/file/Pillars-of-Eternity-2/DeadfireMap.jpg
  8. I envy your optimism. So far, none of the unnecessary (and at times petty) nerfs from 1.1 have been undone or revised. I could be unhappy about this or that change and skulk in my corner, or I could play the optimist card. They revert the change ? Great ! They keep the change ? Great, I'll just play a bit differently \o/ Either way I win and have a great time ! In the end, it is your conscious decision whatever you choose to feel about this or that event. Conditioning yourself to react positively to events is a great quality of life enhancement
  9. Read that carefully: the answer states that the purchaser "will receive their digital code in the box", it doesn't say the box will contain discs (the question does, but the question was, presumably, not written by Obsidian). The question and its answer imply the presence of a physical disc. This is misleading. While I've already stated why I do not think that was done on purpose by Obsidian, it's misleading nonetheless Whether the question was written by Obsidian or not is irrelevant, from a customer's viewpoint.
  10. Instead, nerf pls wizards, that they become equal **** as druids and priests! Like they did with the dual wield full attack. I don't know if the developers even know what buffing means. As a matter of fact, Josh posted a very nice article on Nerfs and Buffs, I think that was like, back in 2017 or something. I have taken the time to find it again for you, here you go, I hope you enjoy the read ! https://jesawyer.tumblr.com/post/161302725596/balance-in-single-player-crpgs He nerfed the only good option martial classes had in combat and the other two are still bad and most of the ppl just don't use it because of that. It was clearly the wrong decision. I do not follow, will you please clarify ? Which nerf is it that you're referring to, the Dual Wield -35% damage penalty ? If they've gone too heavy on the nerfhammer, I have full confidence that they'll hear the feedback we give. Although I understand that wouldn't be an optimal solution (or a solution at all to be honest), a quick band-aid fix would be to create a mod that rolls back the change ! While I haven't personally checked out PoE2 modding, the number of available mods out there seems to indicate it's much more user-friendly than in PoE1.
  11. Meh... I don't know. Am I the only one concerned about this ? This feels like some kind of band-aid really, trying to pump up Ranger damage while also giving them some "nice" abilities. Thing is, these will feel mandatory in the game, and what do all mandatory things do ? They get boring, is what they do. Besides, they hardly add to mechanics and tactics do they ? Really, these new... abilities... just do not work for me.
  12. I'm gonna go ahead and vote yes, POTD needs to be harder later on. I've started running a duo cipher Ascendant + Eder on POTD, and my boys got demolished quite a few times on the tutorial island. On the other hand though, I've made a Helwalker/Wayfarer and I had to double-check several times to ensure I was running POTD. It... it's quite confusing actually, hell I'm going to have to check again, something definitely feels wrong here o_o
  13. Please accept my apologies in advance for being pedantic. I do understand in Monster Hunter World they write "XXX slayed" when you kill a big monster (and boy does that trigger me every time...). The fact is, Slay is an irregular verb which goes so : Slay, slew, slain Quest: Please slay this monster. Monster killed by party: OK, we did good, we slew the monster. Return to town: The monster has been slain, gold plz
  14. Ah I don't think OP is advocating that the boss should be vulnerable to prone and other CC effects, to be honest I think the question is more along the lines of "did this get ninja-changed ?" Anyone remember seeing anything 'bout that in the patch notes ? I for one do not recall seeing it there, but then again I don't think I've ever tried prone'ing him either so... ^^'

  16. Oh, I know how you feel. I found out about this too recently. No more veteran for me in future pts. Boy if I were the product owner on balance issues, I'd be pulling my hair out right about now (metaphorically speaking, I'm actually quite level-headed to be fair). On the one hand you have people asking that wizards be nerfed. On the other hand you have people saying "look bros, remember dem spells ? yeah dis what we're gun' do m'kay ? forget dem spells, just rek everything with dem hammers kay ?" Which is it then, are spellcasters too strong, or are auto-attack guys too strong ?
  17. Ah, I would please agree to disagree. It is not my place to tell you how to feel about this or that, it is not anybody's place to be honest and it is important that you stick to your own counsel. I for one, however, am very happy with Obsidian. See, I kickstarted PoE1 out of longing for the good old days of Baldur's Gate, and because I trusted Obsidian to deliver (I mean, if memory serves, there's staff there that came from Black Isle Studios, what more could I ask for !). I fig'd PoE2 because Obsidian not only delivered on PoE1 at release, but also kept patching and improving the game according to community feedback. I truly believe that Obsidian does pay attention to the community's position on this or that. It remains however that not all decisions are based on the community's wishes. Some may find their roots in the wishes of finance bigwigs, or the videogame market as a whole. Some may even be a matter of perception , having a full VO'd game shows professionalism and ability to deliver (see Divinity Original Sin 2's remaster , tons of voiceovers were added or redone). Unlike you (and again your life is yours to live, I'm not here to tell you this or that is wrong, and nobody should) I do trust Obsidian to balance the game when needed, add new free content, and deliver quality paid content. I can only hope, not only for me but for you as well, that Obsidian proves you wrong and fixes whatever it is you dislike with the game EDIT : Want proof that Obsidian does listen to the community ? Here you go https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/97725-suggestion-skip-introduction-tiny-intro-spoiler-not-hidden/
  18. My apologies, I'm unclear here ; is that intended for me ? I verily meant no harm, I do think I've been respectful with regards to OP's post
  19. As per title. The new (and much needed !) ability tree preview panel available from a character's sheet shows the ability tree for the generic class. It does not take into account specializations such as Helwalker, Kind Wayfarer, Evoker... Kindly fix so the page reflects the current character's specialization Edit: also present in 3.0
  20. You do understand that your... wishlist, in its current incarnation, is absolutely impossible to work with ? Imagine being a product leader at Obsidian. Now, someone comes to you and asks you to "fix POTD balancing". What does "fix" mean ? Do you want it to be harder ? easier ? Harder how ? More monsters ? more aggressive AI ? higher HP and stat pools ? Using loose terms such as "fix" or "harder" is highly subjective and, ultimately, does not help anyone. It won't help you because you'll feel like you're not being heard, or you won't get what you wanted (although, you never said what you wanted in the first place! ) It won't help the product owner, who has no idea whatever the hell to ask of his devs It won't help the devs, who will have no idea whatever it is that is being asked of them. The same applies to your points 3 and 4 really. How are druids/priests nowhere near as strong as wizards ? Keep in mind as well that these fit different roles. Most (if not all ?) wizard buffs are self-cast, while a priest brings party-wide support and augmentations. I would humbly refer you to this article on How to ask questions the smart way, it really is an incredible read : http://www.catb.org/esr/faqs/smart-questions.html It very much applies to posting bug reports or requesting improvements as well.
  21. Yeah I don't know that I agree with that. I mean, what use are endgame abilities and skills that you'll only get to use on 4-5 fights tops ? I'd much rather reach max level earlier, and have the opportunity to use the skills (and respec !), than reach it 10 fights before the end boss.
  22. I for one did like the synergy in DAO, but hated how it was implemented in DA2. I like how elements and effects combine in DOS and DOS2 as well.
  23. I wish you'd used spoiler tags bro Would you kindly edit the post's title and include spoiler tags in the main body ? That'd be mighty nice
  24. Man, now I've got this vision of magazine covers and reviews for the game. You know, the kind of reviews from which excerpts are taken out of context to read "... one of the best every made 4/5" or "absolutely gorgeous 5/5". "Saved my life, would buy again 5/5 - PC World" ^^ Thumbs up OP.
  25. There is an excellent implementation of aggressive shield fighters in Dragon Age Origins, where you could use a variety of shield bash / shield slam combinations to inflict additional damage and knockback or stun enemies. One could imagine a bull rush kind of skill that lets you raise your shield and charge in a line. Out of every RPG out there, PoE and Divinity included, DAO is the only one in which I truly loved my SnS tank
