not to derail boeroer's build thread, but i'm doing something a little different. instead of dual-wielding, i'm single-wielding the blunderbuss since mirke has streetfighter and can do single-wielding pretty quickly with the blunderbuss modal. that's +12 acc right there (+7 net of the accuracy penalty from distracted), also get one hand style for 20% hit to crit. then dance with death for up to +12 acc further, and dirty fighting for more hit to crit. with rogue side i pick up debilitating strike so i can distract over and over so enemies are constantly flanked/reflex penaltied regardless of where they are. my mainchair has the obsidian wurm pet which adds +3 acc to flanked targets on top of that. my mainchar also has nature's mark if i really need to land hits (which also penalizes deflection and reflex, stacks with distracted though can be iffy without the forum patch). maybe eventually i'll have enough enchants and gear to be able to spec out of single wielding, but this is how i manage to have decent accuracy so far early to mid game. i'm not even high enough level where crits on stunning surge matter (don't have the refund ability yet, but it is nice to do aoe stuns regardless, or have 4x chances to stun a single target with a normal blunderbuss) but the one hand style acc and flanked helps a lot, and the hit to crits help early on when PEN sucks.

good digging! yeah i haven't had much time to dive into this more, but one thing i was going to try is just renaming the files boeroer found taht were being altered outside the save. edit: like i wonder if the act of loading my save alters some sort of game object reference in your local install, which causes it to break in other saves. but the mystery to me is why your save still has targetable twin stones at all if you load it first? my game is completely borked, no save i can reload lets me target that spell anymore. i wonder if stag's horn does something weird with game objects, using a similar type of targeting, that unstucks the targeting for twin stones. i should give it a try with stag's horn like you did. edit 2: i wonder if i start a completely new game, if that would also unstick twin stones.

fyi after me finally learning about blunderbusses and stunning strikes from this build, in this current run i picked up mirke (as a streetfighter/monk) to do a similar such build and heilige Scheiße she is absolutely carrying my party now. she's only been in my party for one character level and i think she's already party damage leader. can't believe i slept on this combo for so long.

almost every single media in the history of audio reuses voice actors, unless you're a big disney movie. voice actors are expensive. like others have said now and before, i'd rather they spend more of that budget on content. oblivion had like 6 voice actors total ("STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM") and people still played it to death. (also they probably would've had more voice actors anyway if they hadn't paid to get patrick stewart and sean bean on the cast list, but that's another issues). it's only controversial if you make it controversial. this is a tell on you, not the game. I'm a male and am not such a beta that I feel threatened by a game having more women in its cast. This is a you problem.

if your BPM fixes it, do you know what might be busted? (i only use bugfixes-only community patch, and i've disabled mods in an effort to diagnose the issue) i'm still operating on the theory that there's some broken reference bc the vanilla spell uses some actual in-game objects for the projectiles and explosions. it'd be nice to have it spun out as a separate bug fix. i ended up respeccing my druid out of it - in this run of trying to use unpopular spells, stag's horn is next on the list for ability tier 3. but i can still load other saves and twin stones is still fully busted, scroll or spell - can't target it at all anymore.
-
also wanted to add - do you actually get exploding rocks when you cast the spell? in my memory this definitely happened in the past. but when i started paying more attention to combat log this time around, i never ever got exploding rocks. i could be misremembering, but a part of me wonders if there's something going on with that part of the spell or something. like maybe they're treated as in-game objects and some reference got broken (hence somehow one of either the crossscene or gameglobalobjects is getting corrupted)

thanks for looking into this. here's an updated link, see if this works: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1DKjGqB31sJuoSfTJtMEPUMhhvf6bYcwN?usp=sharing did you delete any files to get this to work? i definitely went through several full game-quits, game-loads, and even a cpu restart in case that mattered somehow. it seemed like a one-way street from weird to broken.

cross-posted with reddit Context: Twin Stone is a pretty underused druid spell. I decided to roll a druid that actually picks it up. I used Twin Stone quite a bit this time. But I noticed I wasn't getting the AoE targeting circle for the explosion effect (you're supposed to get two lines at an angle, and a circle at the end of each line). I also noticed that I actually wasn't getting the explosion effect at all. I loaded some saves from long ago other parties and noticed I was no longer getting the end explosion. Weird! I could've sworn I've gotten the rock explosion damage and aoe targeting circle before. Maybe I'm misremembering and the spell has been bugged? After finding a couple threads with targeting issues: https://www.reddit.com/r/projecteternity/comments/1fj9dwf/twin_stones_bug_poe2/ https://www.reddit.com/r/projecteternity/comments/14ep2b7/cant_aim_this_spell/ i decided to completely quit the game and reload my save because maybe this is just a bugged spell. 4. Uh oh! Upon reloading, now I'm unable to target the spell at all. Same symptoms as those other threads. I can't move the red lines, they just point in arbitrary direction, sometimes I get *tons* of those lines. Most importantly, I can't click. The game just will not let me cast the spell at all anymore. Now I know it's not a me-misremembering issue because literally just a minute or so ago I was at least able to target it, even if half of it didn't work. Loading other saves from long ago other parties now has the same unable-to-target spell. Whatever is bugging out Twin Stones has basically infected my entire game, regardless of when the save is from. This happens even if I freshly load up my game and load a different save first, from years ago even. So it's not like I'm loading in a bad game save and then that bad state is transferring over to other saves when I load those. 5. I did Steam verify files (no files needed replacing). Still an issue. I uninstalled the game completely and reinstalled it. Same unable-to-target issue. So this post is a twofer: A) WARNING if you're not already using Twin Stones right now (and you probably aren't because it's on the niche/bad side), DON'T start using it. B) I'm trying to figure out what's going on. Can someone who's feeling pretty brave download my save file here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DNxoP2xusGGLqduoYA__i7OB_yirl_y1/view?usp=sharing and load it up in your own copy of Deadfire, select my PC (named Kitt), and tell me if you can target Twin Stones? (edit: please verify before you do so that you have a functional twin stones) You don't need to cast it, all I need to know is if you can actually target it in any shape or form. Basically I'm trying to figure out if Twin Stones corrupts the save which then corrupts the game, or if Twin Stones corrupts the game itself through some files that don't get uninstalled when you do an uninstall option (maybe somehow something gets written to a config file or something).

this is unfortunately one of the major bugs that got introduced and left behind with the final update of deadfire. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/pc/227477-pillars-of-eternity-ii-deadfire/faqs/76599/bugs-and-oddities basically if you have AI behavior enabled for a character other than "passive", if their AI script would want to make them do something, even if it's just to auto-attack, they will actually cancel potion consumption right at the moment they drink their potion and perform that action. possible workarounds: if you're on turn-based mode it won't be a problem. edit: if obsidian ever comes around and does a surprise patch for Deadfire (like they did with PoE1) i hope we as the community can come together to demand that they fix this particular bug. IMO it's the biggest gameplay bug still in the game. edit 2: poisons, grenades, scrolls, summoning items, etc all work just fine. it's just potions and drugs that are bugged with this.

arcane reflection spells can only reflect directly targeted spells. unlike the earlier minoletta's spells, missile salvo targets an area, so it won't do much to protect you unfortunately. it's unfortunately a pretty big weakness and why it's not too great for you the player (wizards tend not to be in a position where they get directly targeted by enemy casters), but to be fair it would be 1000000% more annoying when an enemy uses it if it also protected them from aoe or indirect spells.

lucky for you guys i dug into this quite a bit: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/pc/227477-pillars-of-eternity-ii-deadfire/faqs/76599/interrupts-vs-concentration kinda sorta TL;DR - interrupts do stack and add 2s of recovery per interrupt, but only up to max(current recovery time, 2s). it does mean that against a target with fast recovery (like a light melee weapon dual-wielder), a minor esports-like high-apm optimization a player could do is space out interrupt attacks options to make sure they don't land all at once, but instead every half second or so. if they land all at once, you "waste" them, but spaced out a bit you can probably interrupt lock even really fast targets. edit: disorient/blind is very useful for interrupt strategies because on top of their other benefits, the slower recovery time penalty guarantees more interrupt stacking on even fast targets (it even increases the baseline 2s maximum to 3s). on a particularly slow target like an ogre that's been disoriented/blinded, you can clearly see each interrupt adding to the recovery bar, and someone like a dual-wielding rogue with an interrupt ability you'll see it get added in two clear chunks.

actually, that screenshot from NotDumbEnough seems to be proof for what you're talking about Aware: 50% graze to hit (buff for attacker) Paralyze: 25% hit to crit (buff for attacker implemented as a debuff for defender) The combat log shows a graze being upgraded all the way to a crit. I didn't think this was even possible, I though only one upgrade or one downgrade (or both) at a time was possible. but i guess the critical thing is that both mechanics are on different sides of the attack.

i love how you have backgrounds and themes to go along with these. the extent of my thought tends to be "wouldn't it be neat if i used sworn enemy to buff my spell damage"

yeah i've played hearth orlans a lot and it's not uncommon to see this against dragons - the hearth orlan racial upgrades hit to crit and then dragon scales downgrades it back down. IIRC it's a bit confusing in the combat log, i see minor threat appear but the attack is just a hit, and it's only if you mouseover that it shows the dragon scale effect.

a bit of a thread necro but responding to Masticator and touching on something SenSx said months ago - personally speaking I played both BG1 and 2 when they came out. While i Iiked BG1 i could not get into it long enough to get past Nashkel mines. For some reason I picked up BG2 at release and then played it to death and only then did i go back to BG1 and enjoy it for its own sake (with a better appreciation of AD&D). I think BG1 is a lot more "old-school" RPG [meaningless random encounters galore! lots of early permadeath opportunities] and more tabletop-grounded, whereas BG2 did a lot more modern video game design innovations and polished the tabletop edges more. So BG1 is probably going to be rougher to get into from a modern standpoint, even with enhanced edition. I actually prefer BG1 these days precisely because of these old school charms, it's a pretty different experience. (Ironically that's the exact opposite dynamic with PoE and Deadfire, PoE1 feels more old school and traditional and I prefer Deadfire precisely because it feels a lot more modern and polished.)

i tried to double check some notes and my own guide and it's somewhere a bit below 1.5s. below that i had too much difficulty coordinating my clicks and timer to get an accurate measurement, so it's somewhere there. that might be low enough that you don't normally hit it unless you're also investing in dex and have some other action speed or recovery time bonuses on top of DW + rapid reload so you might be fine with imbued ammo.
-
might need to pay attention to what's actually happening in-game here. the attack speed penalty for imbued bullets might help the cap here, but from personal testing, there is a minimum reload time for all guns (despite what the attack/recovery tooltip might say) which corresponds to a bare minimum time spent in actual reload animation. it's pretty easy to hit this minimum reload time with DW + rushed reload with cloth/light armor, ignoring dex or other boosts. so, if you're hitting this level of speed or close to hitting this level of speed already with just either DW or rushed reload, then you're hurting your accuracy without any actual gain. but it's possible imbued bullets is enough of a penalty that you still benefit. again, needs some actual timing of in-game shots.
