Geez, teams are wasting no time in signing players. I'm hoping San Jose inks Samsonov.

This really is the year of the defenseman. San Jose signed Curtis Brown. At first I frowned at this, since he was a bump on the Blackhawk log last season. But San Jose was super weak on faceoffs this last season. Brown is a face off specialist. Hopefully he'll get the rest of our centers on the right track. He probably won't get much ice time other than taking faceoffs.

Really? I haven't seen him play much, but I got the impression he could play wing as well. Huh, I don't know where I got that idea. There are still a ton of players out there, though. I'm guessing we'll see more movement this weekend.

I'm seriously being shocked by just about every signing. This is a total free-for-all. I though Jovo was definitely going to Florida, and I'm shocked that Boston was able to pull two huge talents. Looks like Toronto is busy as well. San Jose better gobble up at least one player. You'd think the opportunity to play with Thornton and Cheechoo would be good enough to attract a talented winger. I was hoping for Savard myself.
  5. The premium version is completely worth the extra moola. As 10k fist said, the HD is solid gold. The wireless controller, DVD remote, and headset are all worth over $100. And memory cards aren't cheap, so it's really pointless not to spring for the whole package.
  6. There are quite a few schools popping up with the programs you are looking for. I'd imagine speaking to the university about your goals is your best bet. If they aren't taking the animation industry seriously, then they are a bad university. One great thing you can start doing as an animator is creating an online portfolio. Just add to it over the years so when you graduate you have a great resume. How comfortable are you with your art skills?

Defensemen seem to be able to stay on top of their game longer as well. When a forward loses a step, it makes it harder to get in scoring position. Usually the best older forwards become playmakers in their late 30's. They don't have the speed to break in like the young guys, but they can slow it down and hit those guys with the perfect pass. Defense is much more about body positioning.
  8. Whatever it takes, Hades. Whatever it takes.
  9. Go to for what? Communications? What is the point of your post? Is this what you call communication?
  10. I just completed the chaotic good quest I was sent on in ToEE. It was fairly anti-climactic. I was looking for these elves, of which there had been pretty much no clues. I stumbled upon them, let them go, and was suddenly done with my entire reason for being there. They didn't even tell me to continue through the temple. I have no motivation to continue. I'm happy fleeing the Temple and calling it a day.
  11. I agree with Blood Money. Or even Oblivion.
  12. Now I really am insulted that I'm not in. Even dead members are getting in.

At least you went down fighting. Isn't Lidstrom going to be old soon?
  14. So...should I be insulted that I'm not in, or grateful?
  15. Eldar's a great choice, but seriously, who isn't a mod nowadays? Oh wait...I'm not.
  16. Not paying for a decent Firewall is like inviting some guy in who offers to clean your house for free. It's a bad idea. But I have a router, and that coupled with Windows firewall is pretty decent coverage. I still have Norton Anti-Virus if the bleep hits the fan.
  17. This was my first real addiction game, I played the VGA version to death. But my first memorable game was The Black Cauldron by Sierra. It was the first adventure game to utilize a mouse only interface, which made it easy to play for a 9-year old.
  18. Wow, that seriously sucks. The thing is, the PSP needs 2D games. Many 3D games look like crap or have impossible camera issues. 2D is what handhelds do best. They better change that stance.
  19. Really? I was pretty drunk back then.
  20. Sure. I'm actually saying I have plenty of reasons to have faith, but whatever. The point is, it's not hocus pocus in my eyes.
  21. The whole argument that it's either faith or reason is bunk to me. I have great reasons for my faith. Believing in a higher power seems very reasonable in my eyes. I look around at the beauty of our world, the emotions I feel for others, and the satisfaction I get from livng a good life. Those things make it very easy for me to believe that there is some master plan. It's much harder for me to believe that this is all just a random sequence of events.
  22. Wow, that's an incredibly arrogant statement by that aide...but I think he's right. Edit: After thinking on it a bit, I'm still not clear on something. Is the "reality community directly opposite the "Faith community"? It just seems like the lines are blurry here. I consider myself a member of both camps...is that supposed to be impossible?
  23. I got the demo. It was a bit meh for my tastes, but I also was getting motion sickness.

Other than Erik Johnson, I doubt we'll see any of these kids for a couple years. Even Johnson might take another year of development. That's the one nod I give Crosby over all the other rookies, he entered the NHL at 18. Fewer and fewer kids are ready to jump into the NHL at 18 nowadays.
  25. I think there are a few on the horizon. Mostly just ports of solid PS1 games, which I think is an excellent idea.
