  1. Sorry to hear that Krookie. Although it's not much, there's a lot of folks that are here for you.
  2. When looking online, I saw chips with and without hyperthreading. I'm palmost positive mine is without. I went under properties and didn't see any options. Although it might be something under the BIOS. http://www.tranmicro.com/product_info.php?...2609c34cad359ce This seems like it might work, although I'm not sure if it's worth the cost compared to my current processor.
  3. I'm trying to tweak my computer a bit for a minimal cost. I've currently got a Intel P4 2.8ghz processor and I'm wodering if it's possible to upgrade it, or if it's worth it. My mobo only supports Socket 478 processors. Also, what's hyperthreading? My mobo seems to support it, but I'm pretty sure my current processor doesn't have it. I can also support P4 Celeron, but I was under the impression that Celeron is worse than the standard P4 chips. Any suggestions? I've got 1.5 gigs or RAM and a fairly new video card, so I don't really want to upgrade those.

The Sharks are back on track There are two teams that seem to know the secret behind beating the Sharks, and that's Edmonton and Phoenix.
  5. I loved Chronicles of Riddick. It's a top sci-fi movie in my books. But I know it got trashed by a lot of reviewers. Personally, I enjoyed Pitch Black but it wasn't my cup of tea. Of course, I also prefer Aliens to Alien.
  6. I just can't get Vanguard to run stable at all. It looks beautiful, but whether I max out the graphics or keep them at the bare minimum, I get lag spikes like crazy. I even upgraded my RAM from 1 gb to 1.5, and the performance boost was negligible. Granted, they are running debug software during the beta. Luckily I get to try retail for three days before I actually have to fork over money.
  7. I'm very excited that Jagged Alliance 3 will be using the SS engine. I'm not sure how the campaign will be, but at least we will get some awesome battles with our favorite AIM mercenaries.
  8. Yep, I enjoyed it too. It was a solid experience with a rather direct storyline. It was short, even for me, but at least it didn't drag on for days.

Jagre made the decision not to go so he could rehab his shoulder. Jarome Iginla did the same thing.
  10. Yeah, I'm hoping the retail runs a great deal better. I've got a pretty solid PC, so I expect to be able to run it on balanced at a good clip. Currently I jump between 10-30 fps, depending on where I am. Certain things are awesome about the game, others are so-so. It seems like a much slower progression than any MMO out right now.
  11. I'm very happy to hear about the low level experience. I'm terrible in the upper levels because I have more power than I know what to do with. Realistically (you know, in a fantasy land sense ) most people and animals should be in between the 1-5 level range. Getting over level ten is quite an accomplishment in FR if you are really following the rules.
  12. Aren't they the people who brought us that wonderful NWN2 review? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, the original review never appeared in print, just the affiliated website. The second one was still pretty harsh, but at least they are equally harsh with every other genre.
  13. I'm enjoying the Vanguard diplomacy stuff. It's basically a card game. I'm not sure how sophisticated in can get, seems a bit simple but it is a fun diversion from "kill 7 frogs". I'm also really torn on WoW. I've been playing here and there to level my character to 55. I preordered the expansion, but I'm not very excited about it. It feels like old news at this point, and I'm not sure if the expansion will really reinvigorate me. I'm much more excited to play Vanguard because it's a new experience, but I don't really see myself playing two MMO's. Vanguard also doesn't run too well on my PC. I've got both pre-ordered, but I'm really thinking of cancelling one or the other.
  14. I've always been a subscriber of Computer Gaming World, which recently became Games for Windows. My subscription goes back about 18 years. I've always appreciated the mature level of writing, which I don't usually find in PC Gamer and most console mags.
  15. T3 was worth it to me just for the ending. I didn't really think they would go through with it. T1 was unique and so it rocked. T2 was my least favorite because Edward Furlong screaming "You can't just go around killing people!" made me die a bit inside.

That 92 goals is a record I don't see being beaten EVER. It would take a serious regression by goaltenders or a dramatic shift in the rules.
  17. Uh, this is advertising.
  18. 122. But really, that only judges your geometric mindset and your ability to distinguish patterns. There were a few that I just stared at for minutes until I figured out what they were changing into. Some fun patterns, for sure.

Roloson is an awesome goalie, although I thought the game was more even than the shot counter showed. Looks like he's got the Sharks number as well.
  20. I consider the $15 fee for most subscription based music stores a reasonable price for near unlimited music. I can still buy songs with the service individually and burn them to a CD, but I don't see the point in doing that. I can put a ton of music on my computer and I believe up to two players, and they stay there as long as I have a subscription. It's like having access to a bunch of radio stations where you can skip songs and don't have to listen to commercials. If I cancel my subscription, the music disappears, but that doesn't devastate me. I can regain them at any time for another $15. It's a lot more cost effective than buying tons of CD's, but in essence it just depends on how much music you listen to. I personally bought maybe one CD a month, but that was enough to warrant the cost of a subscription. It was the same cost for a heck of a lot more music, and I don't mind it being tied to my PC and player because that's all I use.

Woohoo, 3-2. Rolli looks pissed, I'm surprised he didn't get a penalty for trying to toss the net.
  22. Why do you need to own your music? The only possible reason seems to be so that you can burn CD's, but with all the MP3 player stuff nowadays, CD's are on their way out as a media device. I just don't understand the fascination with owning music. As long as I have a subscription, I have access to 2 million songs. If I cancel my subscription, I lose that access. Big whoop. I actually don't know how iTunes works, I can only speak for the MP3 sites like Rhapsody, Napster, and Urge.
  23. I recently bought a Sandisk player, and I got a 3 month subscription free for the Best Buy/Rhapsody music store. Let me just say, it's amazing. My subscription allows me to download as much music as I want for $15 a month. I can't burn it on to a CD, but I honestly don't care about owning the music. I get tired of CD's after awhile, so I can just delete them and put new ones on my player. It takes about 3 minutes to transfer a CD from the website directly to my player. Also, it automatically loads these Rhapsody channels, which basically contain all the music that is playing on the radio on a regular basis. I'm not going to choose many hip hop songs for my personal collection, but it's pretty sweet to have them available. Basically it's like having a variety of radio stations available with no commercials and the ability to skip songs I don't like.
  24. Salah ad-Din is a more accurate spelling anyways, if you are naming yourself after the 12th century Muslim general.
  25. I said none because I'm guessing it will mess you up in the long run. We can also do some pretty impressive stuff naturally if we train and actually stay active. I'd like to get laser eye surgery though, but just corrective, not super vision.
