WoW, Rangers are rolling over Atlanta 5-0 right now. I picked the Rangers to win the series, but I didn't think they'd sweep. The Rangers are getting hot.
  2. How do you like it compared to Vanguard? That's a difficult question to answer, as I really loved what Vanguard was trying to do. LotR is a much simpler game. I'm not saying it doesn't have depth, but it's just an easier game overall. It shares a lot in common with WoW in terms of catering to the casual player and making it possible to accomplish something in 30 minutes. That said, the production values of the quests surpass WoW tenfold. Also, for thos who complain about cartoony graphics, this game looks much better. Vanguard is a much more difficult game in many ways. Crafting is a matter of mathematics, luck, and skill. Crafting in LotR is simply "gather and complete recipe." This means pretty much everyone in LotR will max out their crafting if they are the least bit interested, whereas only the true crafters will reach the heights in Vanguard. Vanguard has housing, flying mounts, sailing, and a gigantic gameworld. LotR promises housing will be down the line, and eventually the world might be huge, but it's not there yet. The problem is Vanguard is a master of none of these things. It's very buggy all around, and it doesn't run well on many computers. They have implemented everything but very little is perfect. LotR has implement much less, but it's very refined and easy to play. I know LotR is the better product NOW, but 6 months from now, it might be played out. It will really depend on how good Turbine will be at releasing new content. They were awesome with Asheron's Call, so I'm hoping for success. It's looking like this will sell well too, whereas Vanguard is currently on life support. That's important for development, as they need a good cash influx to keep thing going after retail.
  3. I like that Saturday 4-10 PM PST slot, but I can definitely go ealrier to accomodate the the CST and EST folks. Are we going to use a specific mod, or are we doing the campaign? I'd rather go with some mod.
  4. Yes Sand. It seems to be in very bad taste, but maybe Eddo was not aware of the shooting. edit: Nevermind, read the second page and realized that Eddo's responses scare me a bit.
  5. Actually, there is a monster mode, and you just might be able to kill hobbittsessss.
  6. If you have any interest in MMO's, I recommend trying out the Lord of the Ring Online open beta. It's pretty awesome, and the questlines feel much more like a single player RPG than a generic MMO quest.
  7. The Xbox 360 has been out for a year and a half. That's pretty lang for hardware, so it's not surprising they are releasing an ugpraded model.
  8. I bought the first Wayne Gretzky hockey game for the PSP. It was actually unplayable. It was laggy. Hockey games need to be smooth, and this lacked that. I tried to return it, but EB said it didn't matter that t was unplayable, they could only take it as a trade in.
  9. Sounds cool. I'd be open for a Saturday or Sunday session. I'm PST, and I prefer mornings.
  10. Are decapitations and dismemberments appropriate entertainment for 12 year old kiddies? (There was some minor nudity too but "strangely" enough I find it more appropriate for minors than gore and violence...) I'm pretty sure you are thinking of the modern 300. I'm asking about the 1962 movie that Meta mentioned.

Also, Ben stated he was born on the island, or rather he lived on it his entire life. That means he's pretty unique, as all the pregnant women kept dying.
  12. Hey, is that "The 300 Spartans" movie appropriate for 12 year olds? I'm thinking it might be a decent flick to show at the end of the school year, but it's not rated.
  13. I bought a WW2 game by the same folks who made Soldiers at War. I was hoping for a JA style game, and I got an unworkable game. I convinced the store to take it back.
  14. I think Carr will find his way back to being a starter eventually. Carolina is probably a good spot, as Delhomme isn't really established as a solid number #1. Carr took a lot of punishment in Houston, but he did manage a few remarkable wins.
  15. I'm at an impasse. I'm very tempted to play LotR Online. It's a very solid game with great production values and minimal bugs. It runs well on my PC, and the quests are very engaging. But the game world is very small and it's missing stuff like housing and horses. On the other hand, I have a subscription to Vanguard. The game is epic, with houses, ships, flying mounts, and a huge world to explore. I've got a character up to level 19 and I'm pretty proud of that. But the game is buggy as hell, outright broken in a few parts, barely runs on my PC, and has way less engaging quests. So I just can't figure out which one to devote my time to.

Actually, just winning a series would be a big improvement for Turco.

Has he fully recovered yet? I don't think he's playing on the top line. I'd normally agree though.

Cheechoo might not be out too long. He will probably try and play in game 3. A knee sprain can heal up rather quick, and so far there is no evdence of tearing. edit: Still, I'd pick Michalek.
  19. Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny - Neat movie if you are a Jack Black fan. Lots of fun cameos. Probably better stoned. We Were Soldiers - It's basically a tribute to the Air Cavalry by Mel Gibson. Well produced and directed, but not very deep. Barry Pepper takes forever to show up, but he was impressive. Everyone else kinda was one dimensional, but again, it was a tribute.
  20. I just read on the front page that UFO:ET has been pushed back to May 1st. Since they are currently testing the supposed gold copy, that might be accurate. It seems pretty hush hush, seems like they have an odd relationship with the publisher. I'm also pretty concerned with the English translation, as Michal, the head guy there, is pretty bad at English. That might be what the publisher is doing, and if so, I expect even more delays. It takes longer than a couple weeks to translate an entire game.

I'm really confused, given Juliet's backstory, why she is so loyal. She's like brainwashed loyal, not forced loyal. It's bizarre. Michael kinda had the same thing going on, and I was never totally convinced that his situation warranted his actions.
  22. I agree with you completely. But that, unfortunately, does not make it a reality.
  23. Volourn, I hate to throw out the whole "I work with children" argument, but, uh, I work with children every day. Young boys look up to these athletes. I'm not saying it's right, it is just a fact. Didn't you have to sit through the whole "What makes a good role model" assembly when you were a kid?
  24. I think it's great that they are bing held accountable for their behavior. Whether we like it or not, they are role models for many young people. It is a privilege to play professional sports. They make a ton of money playing a game and entertaining people. The league has a moral right to make sure these people they allow to take center stage are upholding a solid character. There is no excuse and no good reason for getting involved in shootings at strip clubs. These players are representatives of not just their teams, but the city they play in and the sport they play.
  25. Do you think he's Hall of Fame worthy? His numbers clearly are, but it seems like he never realized his full potential. He was occassionally dominant but fell short too often. I guess it doesn't help that he was replaced by Tom Brady, who was a HoF shoe in after 3 seasons.
