  1. Yeah, that's like hiring a magazine editor and having them work as a book editor! Insanity!
  2. Great interview! I really like hearing about Turbine. They are definitely an interesting developer, in fact I'd say the best in the MMO business. Some of my best gaming days were had playing Asheron's Call.
  3. It wouldn't happen during Bush's term, he doesn't have the time left and these things don't move very fast, unless of course there is some sort of attack on US soil. It's also not comparable to Iraq, as we had a lot of bad history with Hussein before we invaded. Plus, Ahmadinejad isn't nearly as loco as Hussein and won't give the US much justification for an invasion.
  4. Eh, I know a lot of gamers that enjoy Oblivion. But it's a game that is very shiny at first and doesn't show it's flaws right off the bat, similiar to Black & White. I remember CGW basically recanting on their review a couple issues after giving their 5 star stamp to B&W. But the difference is Bioshock is a 30 some odd hour shooter, so I'd think it's easier to review, since you can reach all the content in a week. For me, Oblivion has actually improved over time. It's a great sandbox game that lets you do a variety of things. But if you aren't a fan of the sandbox style of gaming, then I guess you might see it as the downfall of gaming. edit: Wait a sec Llyr, you played Morrowind and Daggerfall? I'm confused how you could possibly be surprised by the way Oblivion turned out? It seems a bit naive to assume Bethesda was going to fix stuff that had led them to success in the first place.
  5. Ya, but you can fix the issue on the PC... It's still just not a very strong argument when comparing PC's to the 360. On the PC, almost every game is bound to have an issue running on someone's configuration, whereas you've only pointed out one game on the 360 that has a bug or isn't running properly. The nature of the PC is that it's a much more complex platform for running games. There are pros and cons to that, but it is a lot easier to release a non-buggy product on any console.
  6. Yeah, those reviews clearly show this game will be udder crap. Moo.
  7. I'm not saying I have a problem with the law or that I think illegal immigration is a-ok. I'm saying our current policies don't serve our countries need for these workers. Because the reward for these workers to enter our country illegally outweighs the risk, you have a gigantic issue that is unenforceable. However, if you create a program that allows these workers to enter legally, then the law becomes easier to enforce. Trying to up the risk factor, which is our current policy, doesn't suit our economy in any way, shape, or form. It also costs a ton. So the law doesn't need to be changed, but it won't be effective until they create a decent work visa program.
  8. I suppose so, although Supreme court cases have been known to make some pretty drastic "clarifications" that in essence change the way policy is carried out in the US. Immigration is a policy issue, and it's been my argument all along that a majority of our illegal immigration issues stem from the flaws in the policy. So, if we adjust our policy, it's reasonable to assume the illegal immigration issue will change as well. Here's an insteresting little article on the steady change in border patrol policies since the 70's. It makes you wonder why we threw out the Bracero program. http://www.lwv.org/AM/Template.cfm?Section...;CONTENTID=8136 Oh, and just for Sand, here's a list of silly laws in the books in Iowa. Be sure not to kiss any women in public if you have a moustache, Sand. http://www.dumblaws.com/laws/united-states/iowa/
  9. Hrm, there's no patch for it yet? SI has been out awhile, that sounds pretty major. I'm actually playing Oblivion on the PC. I've started my first mage and I'm enjoying the chance to blow **** up.
  10. I've had this for awhile, because I realized that, once you put your wife on the desktop, it's pretty impossible to take her down. I mean...she might use the sword on me.
  11. Irrelevant. Right and wrong, as you have said, are morality issues and not legal issues. I am focusing on legality. If you break the law you deserve to be punished by the law. If you want the law changed then change it within the confines of procedure under the law. Actually, the way the US legal system is set up, you have to break the law, then take it through the court system, in order to get it changed, unless you are an elected official. Hence Rosa Parks.
  12. Overheating, un-fixable game errors -like the 1.2 Oblivion patch error that affects all SI players unless they edit a file in the game data folder-, etc. I'm a huge fanboy of PC's, but I don't think I'd ever make an argument comparing PC problems versus and console, even the 360. PC's have infinitely more problems because they are way more complex. Along with those problems, you get wonderful customization levels and upgrade potential, and that's what sets the PC apart. So the 360 has one game in which you need to edit a game file, whereas very few PC games are released without out at least a couple users having to do something drastic to get the game running.
  13. "The Contract" with John Cusack and Morgan Freeman. Not a bad movie, a few oddities in the plot and a bit bizarre with the ending, but the two main actors are always enjoyable for me to watch.
  14. Isn't that against the EULA? And hasn't Dark Raven posted screenies with character names? I'm just saying...
  15. You live in Iowa, stfu.
  16. How much do you actually know about Mexico? Have you done any reading on the history of their country, the political climate, or the condition of their different states? Seriously, if you are going to go spouting off generalizations about 100 million people, perhaps you should have some education on the subject. Look, I live in a predominantly Latino neighborhood. My wife has family living in Mexico. I see undocumented workers every day as I drive around, I live a few blocks from run down shacks where many seasonal workers live before they head back to Mexico. I teach kids who leave school early in Winter and Summer because their families are returning to Mexico. I have parent conferences with people who can't speak English and I rarely can get a translator that isn't an older sibling. So when I talk about immigration, particularly undocumented workers who come from Mexico, it's not some political opinion, it's something I live in the middle of every day. There isn't a bone in my body that wishes they would all just get shipped back to Mexico. I know they are an important part of my community, and my real wish is that the government would create an adequate program to allow them to do work in our country, work that we need done anyways. And ultimately, the only way to create a program like this is if it's done hand in hand with Mexico. The Mexican government has serious corruption, but that doesn't mean 100 million souls in Mexico are corrupt. The US has a history of being better at giving orders than it is at giving advice, but that's not going to work with a neighbor. We need better diplomacy than what we are getting. I know it's a two way street, but it'd be nice if the US started paving the way, instead of raising walls and sqealing about our culture being polluted.
  17. That would be pretty ridiculous. It's not like you aren't paying for the product. It's the stores fault for selling early, but it seems like a pretty silly thing to get worked up about.
  18. nigh unto impossible. the people themselves have to want it first, and it seems they'd rather take the easy route and simply walk across the border. taks That sounds like a bit of an over-generalization of the entire population of Mexico.
  19. Pick locks, fix things. And has trouble passing urine...
  20. And Warcraft is an RTS!
  21. Actually, that depends on how well Fallout 3 does. If it's a hit, then it stands to reason that FOOL will be able to use that momentum. Most buyers don't pay a lot of attention to different developers, they just look for name brands they know.
  22. Yes. If at first you don't succeed, give up. The werewolf philosophy.
  23. That hasn't really proven to be true. They actually say that with every new generation of MMO's, but the fact is, a solid product is always in demand. People didn't think EQ could capture enough folks with UO out, and people questioned whether WoW could succeed in an EQ dominated landscape. Recently, LotR Online has carved out a decent niche, and even with WoW taking an obscene amount of subscriptions, EQ2, EVE Online, and CoH still manage to stay profitable. So it's pretty unknown what the MMO ceiling is, but it hasn't been hit yet. Also, I wouldn't say there are MMO's of all different types. While EVE Online and CoH are refreshingly unique, most MMO's are remarkably similiar. There is room for some new design ideas.
  24. One thing most of us seem to agree on is that an effective work visa program. If there was a really effective program in place, I don't think patrolling the border would be nearly as much of a problem as it is today. But I don't see how you can create an effective work visa program without working hand in hand with Mexico. The arrangement needs to benefit both countries. The reason I haven't put forth a lot of evidence for my hypothesis that our economy relies on immigration is that it's very tough to sort through all the biased information out there. Here's a website that makes a lot of my arguments: http://www.lulac.org/advocacy/issues/immigration/truth.html But you can go check out the CIS and see all sorts of different skews on statistics. The only truth I see is that it's an extremely complicated issue.
  25. I think I'll wait on it. I got NCAA 08 and it's awesome, and I know I won't play both. I'll wait a month or two and then trade NCAA in. Then my college legend and draft pools should be solid.
