  1. It probably helps that Drakenseng doesn't seem to be advertised at all. That's a pretty big money spender.
  2. not my point... he's being deprived of his liberty (his job) without due process. This happens every day in plenty of other careers. He got more than many people do by actually having a three day trial before they canned him. If he feels it was unjustified, he can take them to court and sue them like every other career. As a teacher, I have a very clear understanding of just how unfair this system may be. My career can be ruined by mere rumors. But on the other hand, if a teacher is trying to extort money from parents or students, I want them removed from the classroom immediately. Like the governor, they are in a position of power and can cause serious damage if they aren't dealt with quickly. I would rather see an overreaction than a delayed reaction.
  3. He hasn't been thrown into jail, he is just being removed from his office. It is just like losing a job. He also didn't even show up to the first three days f the trial, so it's not like he was taking many steps to try and keep his job. This will turn into a criminal trial, and he will get to go through due process for that. I agree with you that the prosecutor was using this as a launching pad for his career, but that's lawyers and politicians for you :D
  4. Certificates are designed to protect computers from unstable or infected software and drivers. This is a situation where Epic and Microsoft had a breakdown in communication. It has absolutely zero to do with DRM.

I also didn't realize pansy was related to gay in any way. Nabakov is pissed that he didn't get invited to the All Star game, so he has decided to stop letting opposing teams score goals.
  6. The Whitmore twist was fantastic! I didn't see that coming at all. Also, no need for the spoiler brackets. Nobody should read this thread unless they are caught up on the latest episode. I purposefully avoid it until I watch it, even though I usually do so a few days late.
  7. That isn't DRM.
  8. This is really just a weird reaction. You have a guy saying "my life would be easier if.." and people are just reading soooo much into it. If y'all want to look into the future, the truth is eventually technology will plateau and the hardware battle will become completely different. I hope I live to see the day that I can buy a game that will play on any console or PC. How does it possibly benefit us to have to buy Fallout 3 three times to play it on the PC, 360, and PS3?
  9. What we really need is Sony to create the hardware, Microsoft to create the OS, and Nintendo to create the peripherals and controllers for the ultimate gaming console.

Very interesting...he's 28 so that will take him to 40. The numbers are pretty fair, in fact it might be a steal if he's still productive at 35. That sure is a long time to lock in, but I don't see this as a negative for the league. It's nice to see a team and a player forge a relationship where you know their entire career will probably be played for one jersey. It is getting rarer to see that happen.
  11. I'm having trouble following these posts. Maybe I need to take more LSD or something.

Yep, 10 is pretty bad, that's when the mercy rule kicks in.
  13. That isn't new, games came out on the N64 for $60. The difference is people have been buying in huge numbers, so publishers haven't had any reason to drop back to the mainstay. Still, a $10 hike over the last 20 years isn't really all that much.
  14. Uh, what? How is it evil to not want to have to go through three or four development cycles for the same game in order to get it out to all the platforms? And the PC/Windows OS hasn't had any competition since the Amiga died. Has it really caused a degradation in the quality of PC games available?
  15. You have to place them in a certain order to get all the way to the top. There are a lot of different reactions depending on how you stack, so try new combinations.
  16. One of the primary functions of a salary cap is that it creates a bit of parity in the league. I'm not sure why (I've read a lot of articles that touch on Enoch's point of view) it is a problem to have an exciting post season where anyone can win it. It makes the league better for me.
  17. http://www.eyezmaze.com/eyezblog_en/blog/2...grow_tower.html Took me a good half an hour, awesome fun.
  18. I heard it was mediocre, if I remember the reviews correctly.
  19. Hmm, I played Fallout 3 on the PC, but not signed in the Windows Live. Curses!
  20. Did you mean Brain?
  21. I hear it's free now, but I don't blame you. I have no desire to register for that, even as an Xbox Live customer.
  22. I got about 23 minutes into 23 before I fell asleep.
  23. This isn't the one that opens up the game after the ending, is it? That's the only one I'm really interested, I still have a lot to explore and I don't feel like reloading an earlier game.
  24. I believe the cut content was only the nudie cards and dialogue. I don't believe they cut out any quests or storylines.
  25. feh, this is a very silly argument. print publishers spend millions too - check out how much it costs to print all those copies of the latest John Grisham novel or copy of the New York Times. yet nothing stops you from reselling your book or your newspaper (assuming you can find anyone willing to shell out for it). hell, in London, Rupert Murdoch is spending over 40 million pounds a year to produce a newspaper that he gives away for free five nights a week. there might be good reasons for the business model adopted by software publishers, but trying to justify it by reference to production costs is foolish. I agree with everything Mamoulian War says. I know I buy more titles because I can trade in my console games towards a new game. I'm just also recognizing the Steam model and I understand why they are moving towards it. I will miss having a trade in market, but it won't be the end of the world for me. newc's response is one of the silliest I've ever read. Comparing a print publications to games is a huge stretch. They aren't paying John Grisham $20 million just to write a single book, but that is the investment that a publisher has to make on a video game developer to get a big title finished. Publishing and advertising costs are an entirely separate issue. As for Rupert Murdoch, what does that have to do with anything? He is either making money from advertising, or he is just too rich to care that the paper is losing money. How does that compare in any way to game publishers?
