  1. Uh, the link is just a little flash game demo. The actual product is quite a bit different. It's still a puzzle game though, so I guess if that isn't your bag, this isn't for you.
  2. I'm not sure what happened to the last thread, but no matter the political party, this is a historic day in US history and I think it is pretty special to look how far this country has come. I'm very positive about the cultural and social implications of this day on our future generations. Barack Obama is takng on an enormously difficult job and I wish him the best.
  3. He was basically the PR figurehead for the project, did a lot of interviews and such. I'm not sure how involved he was in day to day operations. They actually had a pretty complete game awhile back, and then they scrapped it, according to him because it didn't meet hit standards. They retooled it and came out with the current version, which was a solid game.
  4. Still playing Saint's Row 2, I can sit customizing my cars for hours on end. This game is a lot of fun. GTA4 moved away from the simple fun stuff for a more serious drama, and I really missed it until I started Saint's Row 2. I became champion of the Prison Fight club, and then bought a swank lighthouse to live in. I have a grand piano next to a stripper pole. It's classy.
  5. That makes a tremendous amount of sense.
  6. I played it a few days ago. A bit more complicated than the original, I'm having a hard time figuring out what combos move what columns. Still, I'll pick it up on the DS for sure.
  7. Going into a spoiler thread to complain about a game is like calling someone to complain about the use of phones. Everyone in the thread already owns the game, hence them being in a spoiler thread.
  8. Technically Warner only has 7 seasons where he has made the 8 game cutoff. But looking at his stats, he really only had three fantastic seasons before he ended up in Arizona. Three seasons is pretty light for the HoF, even though he was unreal in the playoffs during those years. His last two seasons in Arizona have been statistically solid, so that's a big help. I think it's a moot point at this stage because he made it to another Superbowl, and that is basically a golden ticket to the HoF.
  9. What do you guys think of the Boldin situation? Is it just the makings of another prima donna receiver, or are the Cards really not giving him his due?
  10. I always saw Rifts as being the most awesome setting for an MMO ever, but it would really need to be massive.

    NHL

Shanny's first goal in his first game put the Devils ahead of the Rangers for the division title. Interesting. I'm not sure what to think about Claude Lemieux. I wasn't a big fan of him as a player back in the day, although it's hard to argue with his post season success. Still, pretty amazing that he's managed to crack an NHL line up at his age after all that time off. In the paper today he talked about how is 12 year old son was asking him about his career a lot and it made him realize how much he missed it.
  12. Yes, but CK typically has hot people in their underwear in the ads. That's always ok.
  13. I'm very excited, particularly knowing we only have two seasons to go. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and we now they won't just be trying to drag it out for ratings.
  14. This isn't logically sound though. I don
  15. Warner's biggest hurdle for getting into the Hall of Fame was likely going to be his relatively short career, but taking Arizona to the Superbowl makes him a definite lock. Fitzgerald rocks! I was a bit worried in the 3rd when the Eagles basically woke up, but the Cards found a way to put together another drive. I think McNabb actually played decent, so it will be interesting to see what happens to him in Philly. I don't think they can beat the Steelers though. I'd love to see it, but Pittsburgh is better than any team they've faced.
  16. I've been trying to finish Fable 2, but it keeps crashing. Lame.
  17. Actually I found Tabula Rasa to be a very unique take on standard MMO conventions. It's well polished and very stable, the action is quick, and the graphics are fantastic. I played it for about a month a little after it came out. You can't beat the price, either. I suppose if you don't like MMO's, you probably won't like it, but it does have some refreshing changes.
  18. This seems like an attempt at baiting, to be honest, but maybe we are just misunderstanding one another. Extremists are folks that feel the need to throw their beliefs in everyone's face at any opportunity. You have bible thumpers who go on about going to hell, and you have atheists who rail about the mention of God in any aspect of life. I see spirituality as a something very personal. Sure, I'll discuss my beliefs with someone, but I'm not going to throw it around unsolicited. In the same token, most people on this planet are religious. The majority of people do believe in God. That doesn't mean everyone needs to, but if you don't, you need to get over the fact that much of the world does. You are going to see religious holidays being embraced by capitalists, you are going to see government officials swearing on a religious document.
  19. Strategy First is now in a lawsuit with the second developer they hired to make JA3. They already canned the deal with the Hired Guns teams because they weren't happy with the quality. It's a shame, because they had some of the Silent Storm folks and I believe they were using the SS engine. A Silent Storm version of Jagged Alliance could be a fairly solid game, but it looks like it's in limbo for the foreseeable future. Strategy First wants to make use of their Jagged Alliance property, but they are cheap and keep trying to hire Eastern European development houses to make it. Maybe someone will come along and buy it from SF, but with the genre pretty much dead I don't think we will see a quality attempt anytime soon.
  20. Well said. The extremes on both ends are just a bunch of douches.
  21. A few months ago, it was not compatible, but I think they were working on that. Still, there are already enough stability concerns wihout throwing two major mods together like that. I think 1.13 really stands on its own and makes the main campaign fresh and new.
  22. My daughter and wife. My proof of insurance.
  23. Will they crash? That seems pretty unlikely given the current dominance. They have been pretty effective at bringing in new and casual gamers, and I'm not just talking about WoW. Everquest was a fairly large sensation in its heyday and I remember being surprised at how many girls I knew who got hooked on it. These were girls who usually only had a passing interest in a game here and there, definitely not what would be considered hardcore, but the MMO was addicting. The last couple major MMO releases have sold phenomenally well in the first month, so a slowdown doesn't seem evident yet. Eventually every genre runs into bumps in the road and dry spells, but MMO's also have a lifespan that is unique to it's genre. People are still paying to play games that are 10 years old. WoW is 5 years old and still making a ton of money. The MMO genre is completely unique to the rest of gaming. Will they evolve? Depends on what you are looking to evolve. There are some slight variations in most MMO's on the market, but the "carrot on the stick" component is fairly important to the game design. How else will you get people to put in 100 hours a month and devote themselves entirely to your game alone for years on end? But in some respects they are evolving. There is a concerted effort to bring in more casual gamers, to be more accessible to someone who has never played a game before. Also, some games have carved out a niche with unique gameplay models, EVE Online being the biggest success I can think of. Will they become or replace social networking sites? Sure, that seems like a pretty likely collision. It's already happening with things like Second Life, and consoles are basically providing an MMO with Sony's Home, Wii's Mii's, and Microsofts avatars. I think you will see these evolve dramatically in the next generation of consoles. In many MMO's, you get a house to decorate along with your avatar. I can see that evolving into a facebook type situation where you share stuff with friends in a gameworld. I think the user customization is where you really will see an evolution down the road. You look at games like Spore where you can share creations with friends, and you can see how a progression towards more is not too far away.
  24. They are making money hand over fist, for sure. Blizzard went from being a successful developer to being an absolute juggernaut. I'm sure that is at the back of the mind of the team working on KotOR Online, but realistically their goals are probably to compete with companies like SOE and Turbine that have had sustained success in the MMO marketplace. So far, EA has had some serious issues getting a quality MMO onto the market. WAR looks to be a modest success, so there is a start.
