  1. It's worth trying the demo. The combat system sold me on the game, and so far it has been worth it for that. The rest is not done badly, but is still rather generic. Story, character development, graphics, enemies are all adequate. The voicework is actually pretty great. Those stones that tell stories are fun to listen to. I like the House of Ballads questline too. It is the first thing that has really made me understand the whole concept of fate in the game.
  2. Anyone know of any decent, comfortable wireless headphones? Preferably something under $100, but that might be too hard to find.
  3. Still loving my fighter with a longsword/mage with Chakras build. I agree with most of what you folks say about story, though.
  4. I was actually surprised that there were a few decent games on that list. Portal was the best that I saw on there though.
  5. My Father-in-law is in the hospital. He was complaining of back pain on Thursday, and they went to a chiropractor Now he has some pretty serious health concerns, and both my wife and I were upset that he didn't go to a doctor instead. So Saturday night I got a call in the middle of the night form my Mother-in-law, apparently he couldn't get up and was stuck on the floor. I went over there and tried to help, but he weighs 300 pounds. We called an ambulance and they took him away (it was an all-woman crew too, took 6 of use to get him out of the house.) At the hospital his condition worsened, his kidneys are failing. He's in pretty bad shape right now, I'm concerned about him being able to pull through. He's about 62, and as I said he has a lot of health issues. If he doesn't make it, I keep thinking about how hard it is that my son is too young to really remember him. I wish those thoughts wouldn't pop in my head.
  6. Yes, on x360 and ps3. I thought Origin was only required for multiplayer? I believe they are moving to the same model as Steamworks. I know Kingdoms of Amalur requires Origin to be running. On the positive side, Origin is pretty unobtrusive, and even seems less resource hungry than Steam.
  7. If you can't restrain a non violent middle class kid How come you didn't tell us you were visiting the states, Boo?
  8. Seconded. Seriously, this game is a blast with the gamepad.
  9. I don't know if they fixed the fps thing, but that q & a was more about upcoming features then any bug fixes. Typically fixes are implemented during maintenance periods, rather than waiting for an update. Bummer that your friends unsubbed, Malc. It's odd, I have a few buddies I really thought would dig the game for long term, and they've stopped too. I think the problem is story. Most MMO's don't really try to tell a personal story for your character. I love that Bioware is doing that, but if you aren't happy with the way that story goes, you are stuck with it. It sounds like that happened to Tale too.
  10. What? You download the stuff from bioware social/registered game promotions, you don't need to go anywhere near any of their stores. Or from anywhere really, it'll do the authentication automatically. I had trouble with my login information a few months back. I actually ended up calling customer support. They were fairly helpful and I was able to setup a new login with my old registered games.
  11. Started a Fighter/Mage build and it is pretty awesome. It really feels natural to sling a spell and then jump in with my sword. I still stumble with the right buttons a bit, but when I get into a good flow, it's a pretty awesome feeling. I've also got this Mass Effect armor on, which looks pretty cool.
  12. Sadly I think that is the most likely possibility. At least no one explained the full history of the symbols. Maybe someone also likes lightening bolts.
  13. Yeah, because when I think of Skyrim I really think "those lazy developers just left out a ton of stuff."
  14. Sadly I think they are still pretty far from numbers that would make a publisher notice. A million in sales is about 20k of product, right? Given that most publishers expect a game to sell well over 100k in product (really I think 500k is today's minimum goal for a AAA title.) But it's an awesome deal for Double Fine.
  15. For JA: BiA, are the voices the same? Do they have decent dialogue?
  16. Happy Birthday Nepenthe! I wonder if we have more folks in their 30's and older here than we do in their 20's? I think it's probably getting close.
  17. Double Fine has some fairly notorious troubles when dealing with publishers. Basically Schafer refuses to compromise his vision on projects, and it has led to some pretty interesting blowouts. He's also been fairly public about it, in fact he is pretty public about everything he does, which makes this kickstarter thing a perfect match for him.
  18. I'm pretty sure it will continue to feel like a single player MMO. Given that the game is supposed to lay the groundwork for an upcoming MMO, it doesn't surprise me. The only thing I wonder about is how they will translate the combat system into an MMO. Everything else about it seems like a pretty easy jump.
  19. It's probably still pending. I get that at gas stations all the time.
  20. Double Fine is a legitimate developer too. They have a real office with real employees and a real track record for releasing products. So investing in them like this is great, it cuts out the middleman publisher and gives the developer more freedom, which is oftentimes good for the hardcore fans.
  21. The demo doesn't let you choose the hardest difficulty, so that may be a big enough change for you. Most of the time my only challenge comes when I get quite a few enemies at once, but I'm not very far into the game. I'm playing on normal.
  22. That's not very reassuring you know. :D I try not to look too closely at any of the video game characters I hook up with
  23. I can't really disagree with you there, Mafia 2 was sorely lacking in the game department. But I still think it was special.
  24. This thread is depressing. I've had a blast taking Shepard through these games, I guess that makes me simple, but he's a Marine and he gets stuff done. You guys need to treat this game like a good night out on the town. Play it fast and easy, and don't look too closely at the bathrooms or the girl you take home. Good times
