We got our tree today, and now the lights are on it. Next we will put on the ornaments, but it's tricky this year with the little one. We need to keep the breakable ones high enough so he can't grab them.

South Park RPG
Hurlshort replied to vault_overseer's topic in South Park: The Stick of Truth: General Discussion
The guys who make South Park are extremely productive and have managed to release multiple movies along with a long running TV show. I really doubt they are hard to work with. They released a successful film with puppets for goodness sake. Also, the topical issue is the same with movies, you are looking at longer development cycles for both. I doubt that will be their biggest hurdle. Making gameplay fun will likely be the biggest obstacle. -
South Park RPG

I'm pretty sure there are loads of fans of South Park that will buy the game if it's good. It pretty much depends on the delivery and with licenced games as always there are those who will pick it up not knowing about quality at all, just because it's based on a show they like. I played The Simpsons open world sandbox game back in the day, it was very well done. I think it came out about 8 years ago or so. It was basically GTA but in Springfield. I'm assuming Primus will do the music for this game. -
I played on a EU server for awhile, and I didn't have any lag at all.

I write the date December 2nd, 2011. So 12/2/11 makes perfect sense to me.

South Park RPG

We really know very little about this yet, I'm really thinking it will be a direct download game for the Xbox Arcade/PSN Home. That would mean a smaller team, short dev. cycle, and possible episodic content. As I mentioned, it worked well enough for the Penny Arcade game, which was also an adventure/RPG. It will also allow it to stay closer to current events, as Trulez mentioned. Although there are plenty of current events with a longer shelf life. edit: Or maybe not, apparently there is already an XBLA game coming out. Ah well, it's all speculation at this point. edit 2: I'm imagining a Willy Beamish type game at this point. I have no idea why. -
I'm putting the breaks on playing it for the next two weeks. Early Access will probably start on Friday the 16th, and I don't want to get attached to anything that will be wiped. I want to save it for release day.

South Park RPG

I can see it taking on a Penny Arcade style of play as well. I didn't think a webcomic could be a decent game, but they managed it. So I'll just wait and see. As for the people that are indignant about South Park in general, that is soooo 10 years ago. -
To be fair, woman are very forgiving if you get them enough gifts.

It sounds like they skip things, like you taking the collar off and then doing companion quests. All in all, that's probably after about 100 hours of gameplay with that companion. It's also pretty clear at some point the Mr. Sith flirted heavily to turn that relationship into a romance, which they seem to have left out. You also have to curry favor points with the companion to even get to that kind of point, so I doubt Mr. Sith was a total douche all the time to her.

South Park RPG

Huh, I'm not really sure what to say. I'm pretty skeptical, although I never thought a South Park movie would really work, and that turned out great. My biggest concern is South Park seems pretty over the hill. I'm at a loss. -
Everything alright at home Volo? The personal attacks seem out of character for you, particularly one so off the topic. You can talk about it with us if you need to, you are among friends.

It used to be a much smaller deal, but now that we are dropping a huge amount on childcare and struggling to get out from an underwater property, we are both a lot more cautious about every purchase. The carefree days of dinners out and weekends playing games are long past As for what I'm playing, I'm having trouble staying motivated about Skyrim. I really am just bidding time for TOR to be released, I don't want to spend anymore time testing it.

When your finances are tied closely together, it is important to have a good dialogue with your partner about purchases. It keeps the relationship healthy. I don't run every $10 purchase on Steam by my wife, but dropping $60 is something I talk to her about. She does the same when she wants a manicure.

Yeah, I made very little headway in crafting. It seems pretty complicated.

Yes, some people play an MMO for about 300 hours and then proclaim it is garbage Raithe gave a great summary. There was an option in an earlier beta to match all armor color to your chestpiece. They didn't have it enable in the latest build, I have no idea why. I'm hoping it will be back for release. They have done a good job of keeping the armor somewhat coordinated, rather than the fashion nightmares you get in many other MMO's.

I suspected as much. Your courageous sacrifice means I shan't watch it . After I got over my disappointment that they didn't focus on the fairly hilarious other bridesmaids, I thought it was a decent romcom between that Target lady and the guy from the IT Crowd. Did you stay long enough for the conversation on bleaching? That was pretty funny.

I love the lore objects. I'll probably wander around doing them all at release.
-
I'm tempted to play it. I was really too young when it came out and never grasped the gameplay.

Fallout 3 didn't really have a billion sidequests like Skyrim. I think that might actually be better for me.

I'm pretty sure I've clicked on people and gotten little responses out of them. Maybe I'm misremembering, but I don't think they are all ghosts. I know they have little conversations with each other that you can overhear. I remember enjoying a drill sergeant laying into a group of imperial troops on Dromund Kaas as well. Also, the voice work is remarkable for me. Aside from an annoying person here and there (just like real life!) I've found everyone engaging. Some of the Imperial snark is just fantastic and has me grinning like crazy. I can understand the concerns with not having a real impact storywise. It's a very tough situation for an MMO. I've been happy with the phasing though, and while the world around me doesn't alter dramatically with my actions, the reactions and conversations with NPC's do respond well to my reputation.

Wait, you can replay dialogue? How? I think Holocrons might have been disabled, there were some issues with them in a previous build. There is a really easy to find one on Korriban, that was the only one I ever found.
-
So I'm curious what those of you non-MMOers think of the game so far? I knew I'd love it because I enjoy MMO's, but I wonder how it stacks up as a story driven RPG experience. It seemed to be pretty solid to me, I could see playing it for a month or two just for the storylines and then quitting.

You can earn those points you get for sleeping with the Twilek right back by confessing to your master about it, so obviously it's not too dark
