  1. Still having a lot of fun with Final Fantasy XIV. My Gladiator is up to level 18 now, and I've been impressed by the storytelling. Plus I forgot how good the cut scenes are in the FF games. For some reason, I love the little touch of going up to my inn room at the end of a session and clicking on the bed to log out of the game. The crafting is pretty different. You actually level your craft skills completely independent of the adventure classes. You have combos, skills, outfits, and all sorts of other things that only matter when you are crafting. It's a bit daunting to learn it all.
  2. They have to meet in the middle, so the game will take place on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico.
  3. You haven't even played it. Everyone who has will tell you certain storylines like the Imp. Agent are some of the best storytelling Bioware has done. For my money the Inquisitor was the best. Actually I don't get why you don't play it Volourn. It's practically free at this point. Do it. Just give it a little try. I'm guessing you get some enjoyment out of it despite your odd hatred. It can't be worse than your Witcher experience!
  4. They do. A couple of years ago we had two players die in the same weekend, and they got them installed on every rink after that.
  5. Uh, she mutilated her tongue and ears. Her eyes aren't the only crazy part in that gif.
  6. I'm very excited to see Alex Smith thrive in KC. The guy works extremely hard, is tougher than nails, and never gives up. That being said, he needed a good coach that can play to his strengths, and he found that in Harbaugh. Andy Reid is also a great coach, so it's not that surprising to see him continue to succeed. Kaepernick is a very different quarterback. It is a high risk high reward situation with him in comparison to Smith. Do the 49ers make it to the Superbowl last year with Smith instead of Kaep? It's hard to say, but I doubt Alex Smith sets the NFL playoff record for QB rushing yards with Smith. Also calling Harbaugh garbage seems a little silly. He only has two seasons in the NFL and they were both spectacular. Before he showed up the 49ers were bad.
  7. I don't even get into fights when I play hockey, it just seems like a good way to get injured. Speaking of hockey, a player in my league collapsed on the ice last night. I didn't know him personally, but he is on the same team as a couple of friends of mine. I guess the EMT's arrived and started using the defib and doing CPR right on the ice. They got him to the hospital and cleared out a blockage, but he didn't make it through the night. It's been a couple years since we've had an incident like this. A tough reminder about how short life is. His kids were in the stands too. I haven't heard how old he is yet, but I think he was in his late 30's, early 40's. Seemed like a healthy guy too, he had done one of those mud races earlier in the day with his daughter.
  8. I'm glad to hear that, it sounds like a reasonable settlement for both the players and EA. The NCAA is the real villain here, and for some reason they are untouchable. They run a total racket and take advantage of college athletes every day.
  9. Well, given the freedom to choose, I think 17 is a good year. Sorry to dampen your fantasy, but 7th grade is 12-13 year olds. That's actually the grade I teach. So watch it
  10. Also we do get a lot of local stuff in our grocery stores, depending on where you shop. It's usually fresher and sometimes even cheaper.
  11. Which makes complete sense to me, because most valuable player on a mediocre team seems a lot less important than helping to propel your team into the playoffs.
  12. Pretty clearly a troll post, and it is funny reading all the other posters call him out on it.
  13. Farmer's markets are very popular around the bay area though, so I don't think people are completely disconnected. The biggest issue is the convenience factor, I know a great place to buy eggs about 10 minutes away, but that will just get me eggs. I don't really want to go to each individual farm to get my grocery list filled.
  14. My neighbors have chickens, and they are free to butcher them whenever
  15. Bias is a terrible trait for a historian, and there aren't any posters more biased than oby.
  16. The trailer really only tells me that the game looks like South Park, sounds like South Park, and features a ton of characters from South Park. It shows nothing about the way it will play, so I'm still pretty curious. I haven't watched an episode in a lot of years, but I enjoyed the movie back in the day and remember a few characters. I'll give it a whirl.
  17. I don't think they've been working on it in that way. It better be a stable game at least.
  18. It kind of sounds like common sense that if you are legitimately going around grateful and thankful towards everyone, then you are probably a pretty happy person.
  19. I typically drink the pedialyte I have on hand for when my kids get sick. It's pretty amazing hangover medicine.
  20. I don't see them doing it, but I'll back Obsidian on anything. I see them doing something closer to that time travel game they pitched awhile back.
  21. We used to cook our chickens over a pan of bacon grease. Not in the grease, but on a rack above it, so that the grease would pop and sizzle up and help flavor the chicken. Pretty awesome. We'd also brine it first with rosemary and a bit of salt.
  22. Yeah, it's definitely Final Fantasy. It took me awhile to get over it, actually. I haven't played any jrpg's in so long that it was pretty off putting.
