  1. April Fools? I hate this day.
  2. The Simpsons is built on satire and parody. Using it as an example as an embellished character is completely missing the point.
  3. It is a bit humorous that the Cruz affairs story broke and nobody really batted an eye. It was just too outlandish.
  4. Heh, trying to teach our own kids is way tougher than being in the classroom. I don't understand how homeschoolers do it.
  5. Hoonding has had some pretty good one-liners, but he's pretty one-dimensional. I like some depth of character in my forumites. Also, the Overwatch butt looks terrible. I mean, it really isn't even a butt, it is legs with a crack in between. I assume they are changing the pose because it looks stupid.
  6. I always wished Freedom Force had gone with turn based combat.
  7. Sorry to hear that Gfted. My wife got a new job. Bit scary to change school districts, but this will place her much closer to home (the school is in our backyard) and eliminate a good chunk of the commute. On the less exciting news I'm trying to figure out how to pay the state $2300 in taxes. I think I'm going to apply for a payment plan, rather than be super broke for the rest of the month. At least I already paid federal.
  8. I guess it is commendable that it took a few pages before the gender equality thread became a place for classy guys like Oby and Hoonding to put up pictures of female derrières.
  9. Prior to Obama we also had rampant hyperbole. Thankfully things have really calmed down
  10. I'd watch it.
  11. I'm actually thinking someone like Paul Ryan is more likely to come out of a brokered election than John Kasich.
  12. Kasich does have some democratic leanings, and that's why I see him as a decent threat to Clinton in a general election. Now him getting through the brokered convention is a total crapshoot, so I agree it is probably not in the dice. And if he does, Trump will probably run independent (I assume he can still do that and get on the ballot?) That will pull votes away from any Republican candidate, as you've said. But if there was a scenario where it was just Kasich versus Clinton, I'd put my money on Kasich. The Republicans are going to vote for him, regardless of their feelings, just like they did for Romney. And I think there is enough flaws with Clinton to pull votes away from her. She lacks the charisma of her husband and Obama. All I really know is the Republican Convention is going to be a barnburner.
  13. Over Clinton? I am not ready to commit to that. She is very beatable.
  14. No. Bruce doesn't even understand women, which is not the problem, since we all are pretty clueless. The problem is he thinks he does. You must have missed his material on strippers and overweight girls.
  15. Yes, if only there was somewhere on the internet a heterosexual man could go to see hot chicks.
  16. It's hard to say, we didn't exactly have a lot of them here, so it could just be typical ebb and tide of any forum. The hot chicks period was a weird one here though. On the one hand it led to some hilarious parody threads like the hot rodents thread, but it always seemed like a bizarre fit for this place. GG made more sense even though I never got it. I wouldn't really call them insular though. They were extremely active, spawned numerous iterations and would bleed over into other topics.
  17. Was in the mood for some strategy, so I picked up Total War: Attila. I haven't bought a TW game since Empire, but so far Attila seems like a nice return to the basics. Having fun sacking cites as the Vandals.
  18. Remember when their used to be active female members on this forum? I wonder why they stopped coming around?
  19. I'd write three short stories, one for each of my kids and one for my wife. Let's make an agenda, say I find out at midnight and I have until midnight. 12 AM to 6 AM - Write 6 - 8 AM - Make waffles for my family and enjoy the morning with them 8 - 10 AM - Go with my wife to a awesome spa and get a massage and enjoy the facilities. 10 - 11 AM - Wife time #1 11 - 12 PM - take the RV and set up with family and friends outside a hockey rink. 12 - 2 PM - Play hockey 2 - 4 PM - BBQ with friends and family 4 - 5 PM - Wife time #2 5 - 8 PM - Fancy dinner with wife and kids, with some fantastic beers to sample. 8 - 10 PM - Spend time with kids, just getting ready for bed telling stories. 10 - 11 PM - Wife time #3 11 - 12 PM - I'll probably be pretty tired at this point, maybe I'll finish up some writing, maybe fall asleep next to my wife. It would be nice to be asleep when it happens.
  20. I'm pretty sure it is unreasonable to expect people to buy games based on artistic appreciation. What a bizarre world we live in where you can spend years creating a game, and then the people playing the game can make more money off it than you. edit: It's simply unsustainable. Eventually it will change, and LPers will need to put a percentage of their profits towards the game creators. LPers deserve to profit as well, given that they are creating their own content off the game. The other option would be to raise the price of the initial game a ton, like you see with design tools.
  21. The doctor was not too worried about the heart rate. Actually he said he wished he could get his resting rate that low. I am due for a physical so he is going to do some blood work and a physical to check for a few different things, and an EKG just to be safe. He also said to stop running on concrete, which makes sense.
  22. So I have this fitbit, and I noticed that my pulse over the last few weeks has dropped from the typical 59-60 bpm to 49-50 bpm. I thought it might just be the watch, but then I took my pulse and it was 52. I've also been feeling fairly lethargic the last few weeks. I've been running regularly, but I don't feel myself. And last week I started having a fair amount of back pain. I guess I should go to a doctor. Garry Shandling also might just have me being paranoid, but better safe than sorry.
  23. That's like calling the sky blue. You are way too serious Boo.
  24. I have been hearing more positive reviews from regular people, so I'm thinking it might not be as bad as everyone says it is. I expect it is a lot like Man of Steel, which isn't exactly a favorite for me, but hardly a bad film.
  25. Okay thanks Meshugger, I'll be sure to ponder how similar I am to Qistina over Easter A genuine, friendly advice met with a passive-aggressive snarl? That's the behaviour of a vindicative *censored*, don't be that low. A small hint, check her behaviour (not the content) and compare to yours in this thread. Obviously tone is hard to convey in a post, but it seems a bit disingenuous to call your statement genuine, friendly advice. It also doesn't contain any advice whatsoever. As for Bruce, I think many of you simply take him too seriously too often. Like Volo, his posts are best read with a judicious helping of salt. edit: I should probably add that I'm terrible at taking my own voice, and I've let Volo get under my skin too many times to count.
