Politics Episode 8: WWF Edition
When you have 11 million people breaking the law, it's easy to just blame those people. But the reality is probably a lot more complex than that. It is akin to me blaming my students when half of them fail a test. I can easily justify that they didn't study enough or whatever, but in reality I created a bad situation as the teacher. The US has put itself in this situation and needs immigration reform more than a wall and mass deportation. http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2017/04/27/5-facts-about-illegal-immigration-in-the-u-s/

Politics Episode 8: WWF Edition
Illegal immigration and undocumented workers are two different things, though, although there is going to be quite a bit of overlap. When you are talking about people taking your jobs, undocumented workers is a more descriptive term. Honestly illegal immigrant is a bit of a misleading term. Do people that crossed over legally but overstayed a visa still count as illegal? Illegal immigrant is fairly loaded as a term, it makes it sound like being in the US without a visa or citizenship is a criminal offense. It is a civil one. The term really applies more to a person caught in the act of trying to cross the border. But it has become common place and broad in usage, and that doesn't really bother me. As was mentioned, it tells me a lot about the person using it.

Don't think I have anyone on ignore. People sure are touchy about forum posting here, though. Sometimes I put people on ignore because their posts are so great, the extra anticipation that comes with revealing how they respond is delightful.

All that is true, but there are limits, and children have successfully sued to end parental rights in certain situations. But yes, redneckdevil is quite correct. With that power comes certain responsibilities, of course. You legally have to provide an education for your child. You can't just keep them at home and brainwash them. You have to jump through a bunch of hoops to do that.

Nerdgasm: Movies and Shows for Geeks and Nerds
The original wasn't some masterpiece, but it was fun to watch the Breakfast Club crew turn dark. This one might be better, but it also might just be a cheap thriller.

Politics Episode 8: WWF Edition
Probably good to note that the health care problems in the US are a relatively new problem, and have been driven by numerous factors. It was a lot easier to say no one is entitled to health care in the US when it was relatively affordable. But it isn't anymore, which means we either need to find a way to drag those prices back down to a reasonable level, or figure out a better alternative. If we can do the former, I'm all for it, but I'm not sure how realistic that is. We do have a number of successful models to look at in other countries though.

What's on the idiot box?
Amazon Prime had a new Tick. I enjoyed the original, but this one is a bit more serious in tone. It seems to be focused more on Arthur than The Tick, which works, because it is hard to match the gravitas of Patrick Warburton. The pilot was decent, I'll give it another look.

Having babies wreaks havoc on people. I gained about 20 pounds, and I wasn't giving birth. The good thing is in a couple years those adults will hopefully recapture that whimsy by sharing all those references with their children. Hopefully.

Which is a shame, because it did a lot of things right. It had some big flaws, but it also did some creative stuff that made it the closest thing to an engaging shooter MMO I've ever played.

Square Enix needed 5million sold copies of FFXV to break even... That means, it cost at least 300 million to get done... Ah my bad, I couldn't read your link and thought you meant cost to consumers. I'd definitely agree AAA game budgets are out of hand.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
I don't really think AAA games cost that much. They've stayed fairly competitive in price over the last few decades.

The Weird, Random and Interesting Things That Fit Nowhere Else Thread
Seriously, I have never understood the hesitancy to automate jobs that can be automated. That is called progress, and it will drive growth in other sectors. Did people complain like this when automobiles replaced horse buggies? I am sure they did, actually. Problem occurs when every job can be automated. At that time I will welcome our robot overlords.

Specialization and discrimination are two very different things. I already covered that. Having an age-limit is different than racial discrimination.

Politics Episode 8: WWF Edition
I'd assume like most good businesses, they target the demographic they have nearby. I know some places do Gay nights, similar to Ladies night. The crazy thing is, most of these discrimination laws are also just smart business sense. Turning away people based on religion, race, and gender seems remarkably short-sighted as a business owner.

Politics Episode 8: WWF Edition
There are gay only establishments, there are other establishments that only cater and let in a specific groups. Let's not nitpick. Not in the US. It is hardly nitpicking. I live in the Bay Area and I've never heard of a gay only establishment, and we have a pretty large gay community. Of course there are businesses that cater to certain crowds. My running shop sells shoes for runners. That doesn't mean they will turn away people who are out of shape.

Gay bars don't only serve gay people. Anyone can go in and order a drink. I mean, it is one of the few bars where I get better sevice than my wife, but it isn't open discrimination.
