  1. Honestly I would never bet against the incumbent. Bush had some pretty low numbers going into his second election, and Kerry was a fairly inoffensive candidate, and Bush still won solidly. Oprah could probably pull it off. But that is just because the absurdity of it all will cancel out the effect.
  2. Well I am certain that complaining about a comic book movie was worth losing a job/career over. I mean, you can't just let these things slide.
  3. Community college professors are more insecure about their jobs, and so they justify it with more work.
  4. I think Prey is middle rated.
  5. If we're being honest must be code for something just being your opinion. I consider Wicket a better comparison to Jar Jar.
  6. It's probably a mimic, look out!
  7. We are clearly not on the same page. Users and game journalists bring more to the table than just their opinions. You stated that you watch videos in order to make informed decisions on game purchases. Those videos must be coming from the publishers, journalists, or players. You are calling them 'completely useless' and 'terrible terrible' but you are still relying on the content they are providing. I don't think there is anything wrong with being critical of their opinions, but your hyperbole comes across as contradictory.
  8. You still rely on their content.
  9. The response people had to Jar Jar was pretty over the top. He was basically held up as the symbol of destroyed childhoods when the prequels came out. Made me think of this.
  10. Prey is still probably the best game I played through recently.
  11. no, I watch youtube videos of people playing the game without commentary How enlightened of you. Of course, I imagine those videos are made by reviewers and users, so maybe you do have a wee bit of reliance of game journalists and users in order to make your decisions.
  12. Kind of brings into focus how toxic fandom can be. I love me some Star Wars, but I can't imagine driving someone to such a place because I am not a fan of their work.
  13. Kind of a strange list, because I would think the change percentage would be more important than just the migration numbers. For example the LA area is number 2, but it still saw a 4% increase in pop due to birthrates. It's also expensive as heck. I liked Memphis a lot when we did our tour. It was nicer than any of the cities we stayed at in Texas, Louisiana, and Missouri.
  14. I don't read reviews. Game journalism died in 2002 as far as I'm concerned. If you mean user reviews, then I don't even consider those worth existing. So basically you go into every game purchase without any information other than what the developer and publisher provide? That doesn't seem like a more informed way of going about things. I just tend to look for reviews that I can identify with. Most of the people here fit that mold, and rarely lead me astray.
  15. On the topic of cycling, I've been working pretty hard to get better at it. It's kind of like a video game right now. I'm still pretty low level, so I keep grinding away at hills trying to get stronger and more proficient. I do this one group ride that is just way more advanced than I am. I basically keep pace with them out of town, then we start the first climb and I slowly drop to the back of the pack. As soon as they hit the descent, I lose sight of them. If I work really hard I can catch them at the top of the next hill because they regroup, but then I get dropped again. It's pretty intense. They average around 24-25 mph around the whole route (40kph) while I'm closer to 20 mph, so I've got a lot of work to do. Still, I'm loving the challenge.
  16. Yay for cycling. I love how fast recovery time is after a day on my road bike.
  17. Hah, I did enjoy that, for a short while when this movie was somewhat fresh, I would have a handful of students that were aware of Hadrian's Wall. Trying to explain the history of the Romans in Britain to middle schoolers is a bit tricky.
  18. Well, I only watched the one video, but did she make some sort of claim that was untrue? Is she misleading people? I blog(ged) about beer and beer history, but I am certain there more informed and experienced voices out there. Heck, there were probably even a fair amount of mistakes in my work. It was really just me sharing my personal experiences with a small (like super tiny) audience. I suppose it is fair game for criticism, but I'm not sure why anyone would bother.
  19. What a weirdly hostile reaction to someone's youtube channel. I guess SonicMage was right about the criticizing stuff. The internet is a strange place.
  20. I'm pretty sure it was. Of course, it looks like they've created a ton of unique tilesets, artwork, and music, so that's impressive.
  21. Geez, long story short, temporary employee chooses to pursue different job. What is to criticize? I mean, there is some nice insight into the game industry, I suppose.
  22. That's the cross that the best teams bear. Yankees and Patriots face the same thing. It's basic sports psychology. Most people root for their team, against teams they hate, or the underdog. Brazil has too much success to be considered an underdog, so unless you are already a fan or you hate the team they are playing, you will likely root against them.
  23. Hmm, looks good on paper, but hopefully it doesn't mess up the locker room dynamic. Cousins is a big personality and there is already rumors of some troubles keeping all the GSW stars happy.
  24. Finished Season 2 of Goliath. For some reason, this show is super binge worthy for me. Season 2 wasn't quite as good as 1, but honestly I just watch it for the great cast interactions and it was still a hit in that way. Story got a bit muddled and ended weirdly, but hopefully it was just to set up the next one.
  25. Psst, the entire "me too" movement is based on that. But Im sure the 5 second grope he endured damaged him for life. smh. I do not get you at all. This reads like a complete lack of empathy.
