What are you Playing Now? - Right Now at the moment edition
Hurlshort replied to melkathi's topic in Computer and Console
Man, this thread is heavy on the Dark Souls lately. Meanwhile I can't even get past the tutorial bosses in those games. Colony Ship is going really well. The story is great. I need more plasma cells though. Those things are solid gold. -

Colony Ship - I don't know how I slept on this one for so long, it is a very good RPG. I think it's because Age of Decadence never really won me over, despite a lot of attempts to play through it. Colony Ship is a lot more polished and has a great storyline so far. -
Yeah, I tend to get a lot more out of steam reviews than any 'professional' reviewers, or those terrible people that make videos. I have a pretty small list of friends on Steam (maybe a dozen people) but if they review a game, it pushes them to the top. They tend to share my interests, so that's nice. Plus it is easy to scroll through a few and get a feel for if the review matches what I'm looking for. They are typically short and simple. The only games that tend to get skewed Steam results are usually the big AAA titles. All of the smaller indie stuff, which is what I tend to browse Steam for anyways, is pretty accurate when it comes to the positive to negative scale.

So those threats apparently have spread across the country. Parents were showing up in droves to take kids out of my wife's school yesterday. It's tough because it certainly seems to be a widespread hoax, but it's hard not to take it seriously in this climate. That being said, I think people need to be careful with living in fear. I'm a teacher and I have kids in school. I'd prefer there be zero school shootings. But statistically you are still much safer in school than you are on the drive to and from school each day.

Speaking of votes, I won a spot on my HOA board. Yay? 15 votes were lodged, and I was on all of them, but I am concerned because there are over 80 units in the complex. That's a pretty poor turnout. It's a new community too, so it's not like people should be burned out already. Anyways, I have a lot of concerns and I'm deciding how to pace myself on them.

Ah, so he was on RPGCodex? Maybe Volourn knows him.

Trump would be worse as a martyr, for sure. In his words, "Some people say I'd be the best martyr, maybe even better than Jesus."

Enshrouded - I was looking for a good survival game to play. Green Hell was a bit too hellish for me, 7 Days to Die had too many zombies, and Mines of Moria is too lonely and dark, so I loaded up Enshrouded. I bought it awhile back but didn't play it much, since it was early early access. It has progressed a bit, and I've gotten pretty deep into it. I love the class system and the world is well developed. This game also needs more NPC's (like Moria) but at least you have crafters to recruit. -

Watched the first 2 episodes is Rings of Power season 2 with my wife. It was great! The first episode really fantastic. Elrond rolling his eyes at all the bad choices is fun. He's apparently dealt with the consequences of other people's dumb choices for a long time. I read that the show is pretty much greenlit for a 5 season arc, so that's nice. -
I assume we need to know Taylor Swift songs to get that joke.

As you said, low turnout is an issue and this will likely get out some younger voters. They aren't necessarily being swayed to vote for Kamala over Trump. I doubt there are many Swifties that are die hard Trumpsters as well.

I've played a few different games recently. Green Hell - Picked this up for $10. It's a good survival crafting game with some interesting mechanics. My guy has some serious dietary requirement though. The game wants you to balance carbs, fats, fruits, etc. I feel like I'm eating a lot and still struggling. Also Jaguars are mean. SW: The Old Republic Online - I hadn't played this in probably 5 years or so. My son took my original account, where I had a few storylines complete (he has 6 of 8 done at this point) so I started from scratch. I'm just focusing on storylines and it is enjoyable. Oh, they opened up the classes! I never liked the gameplay of the smuggler or imperial agent, but now you can use different class abilities for storylines. So my imperial agent plays like a bounty hunter and my smuggle plays like a trooper. Return to Moria - I bought this on epic about a year ago. It's been updated a bit, but it still needs companions or NPC's. I tooled around a bit, but I think I'll keep waiting on it. -
I didn't watch, because I'm busy living life, but I'm pleasantly surprised that Kamala did as well as she did. She had a pretty rough debate 4 years ago with Pence, so clearly it is something her team has worked on. Hopefully that will be enough for some folks sitting on the fence. It probably doesn't really move the needle, but it helps with the momentum of the campaign.

The TV and Streaming Thread: US Writers/Actors Strike Edition

I think Tiger King had a 2nd season. It sounds like there might be a season 3 and 4. I thought the original wrapped up pretty well with him going to prison, so I stopped there. As for Chimp Crazy, I don't know how this director got lightning to strike twice. That show is even crazier. -

I haven't started watching Rings of Power yet. I've been too busy watching Chimp Crazy, which is the new Tiger King. edit: Although I'm already seeing stories about how it's going to get cancelled because not enough people are watching. I don't understand this stuff. Isn't the point of streaming that we don't need to sit down and watch it at a certain time on a certain night? Why are they still assessing streaming titles like this? Shouldn't it be based on subscribers and views over a longer period of time? Honestly I wasn't even planning on watching until all the episodes are out. Seems odd that that would impact their ratings negatively. -
Rest in peace Mufasa.

The tough part in the US is each city, county, and state is really operating separately. So you might have a city that gets its act together and has decent bike paths, but as soon as you hit the city limits, the county takes over and it is a totally different organization. They rarely work well together, either.

Cinema and Movie Thread: coming at you at 24fps

That is a surprise! I did watch the whole, non director's cut of Rebel Moon and thought it was fine. It had some good parts. I only got a few minutes into the 2nd film, so I can't really say anything about it. On a related note, I did not like Furiosa nearly as much as Fury Road. I thought there was too much exposition. But I also watched Fury Road in theaters and Furiosa at home, and I think that made a difference. -
Good Old Games still oldies but goodies

You should feel silly. If you had put that $8 into a savings account, it would be like $13 now. -
Yes. I know a decent chunk at this point, so hopefully that helps. The HOA is run by some corporation, so the transparency kinda sucks. They keep scheduling meetings for 1:00 PM on Wednesdays and I'm like, don't people need to work to pay for these townhomes? Homeowners Association. It is more likely to sink than it is to hover.
