  1. I thought you were a fan of Wing Commander?
  2. I still play X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter occassionally.
  3. funny, but the most popular show on fox, o'reilly, basically agreed with the judges' decisions. so tell me, given your obvious "right wing conspiracy" view of fox, do you ever even watch the danged station? or do you just base your hype on your ideology? you're a hypocrite at best. taks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> TAKS WINS! FATALITY! Sorry guys, but you're stretching on this. I'll be the first to admit Fox News is biased in the way they report a lot of their stories, but not so much this time.
  4. Jedi Knight 2. The lightsaber combat was almost as b!tchin' as in the third installment, and it had a decent story as well.
  5. I think we all bit into the hype. Dungeon Siege was rated in the 90
  6. You upgrade right after the price drops due to the 'next big thing' finally coming out. Buy just a little bit older/inferior parts. Should be able to get by on them for at least three years. Of course, the last few months, you'll be running things in lower detail, but it's really not all that big a deal. When you do it this way, an upgrade as Sarj is talking about should run you about $500-$800 USD. Not sure about Euros though.
  7. Yes, it did. BTW, there is a way to restore that feature to the US version. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I bet her boobies aren't as realistic as Monica's.
  8. Brownified! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I can't really read the brown text...
  9. Hyperthreading isn't all it's cracked up to be. It's extremely inefficient if you don't multitask, and lots of programs don't even support it. Kinda like SLI really. Also, the Intel processors were 'faster', but much less efficient. AMD still held top honors in all the Gaming Rig reviews I read.
  10. Only good Emulator I know of runs Halo and Panzer Dragoon Orta. That's it. Xbox Emulation scene is in it's infancy. Anyhow, I must now shut up, before the Order of Publishers comes for me... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> When the Xbox first came out and everyone was talking about how it was pretty much a PC in a box, I figured someone would have had an emulator out within months. I was disappointed to be wrong. I also want to play Jade Empire, but I doubt its worth $300. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It IS a standardized PC in a box, it's just got this freaky OS, and all this encryption.
  11. Because Intel is actually better. AMD you just get more for your money. At least thats what the guys who own the computer store back home and my friends in Engineering said. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How long ago was this? I'd say a few years back, P3 days at the latest, they had an edge over AMD. But since then, they've really fallen behind. The P4 line was virtually useless to anyone who doesn't run 10+ apps at the same time, or does media work (video, audio, etc.), most people who do that kind of work choose Mac anyway, as it's the industry standard for those sorts of tasks. Their 64 bit processors, last I checked, weren't even really a new core, so much as Xeon with it's legs cut out from under it. For any normal user, or a gamer (AMD processors are better at doing large amounts of mathematical computations, which is rather important for gaming), AMD is really a better choice.
  12. For a second, I thought you'd pulled some marginally good looking screen shot out of the aether in defense of this game, I was all ready to flame you.
  13. Only good Emulator I know of runs Halo and Panzer Dragoon Orta. That's it. Xbox Emulation scene is in it's infancy. Anyhow, I must now shut up, before the Order of Publishers comes for me...
  14. Rule No. 3: You never talk about a review from Gamespy or IGN. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> :D I was hoping someone would finish that off.
  15. The Doom 3 X-Box version sucks worse than the PC version. Not only do you have crappier control, but you also have worse graphics in the parts you can actually see. After that, I really don't know what's left. I don't have an X-Box, but I played it on a 'friend's.' Go for Painkiller, the X-Box version is supposed to come out sometime soon, and if you decide to go for the PC version, you can get the original, and the expansion for $40 USD at EB Games. It totals to relatively 40+ hours of gaming time, so it's definitely worth it. The atmoshphere was better in the expansion than the original too IMO. The Orphanage creeped me out so bad!
  16. I don't have any real friends. I don't mind buying games online. Before I discovered the used section at EB Games, I bought most my games that way. I just mind buying games onlines using Digital Distribution systems that require highspeed internet to work in any sort of timely manner. Hell, if I had highspeed internet, I really wouldn't mind buying them via Digital Distribution, my first though when they released HL2 that way, was 'Man, that's cool, I'd so totally buy it that way if I could.' And I really would, sure I like my G-Man box, but I like supporting developers, especially when they've earned my monies and trust like VALVe has. However they're about to break it if they think this will actually work at this point in time.
  17. Any news on whether or not the expansion will be available in CD format as well as the direct downloads. No highspeed internets here. I'm glad Dog and Alex are all right though! <edit> Just looked at that link, all I've got to say is F**K YES! That 'decidedly emaciated creature' is a Stalker. It was in the Hardcover Raising the Bar book thingy. It used to be human, it's bloodstream was replaced with a saline solution, and the parts of it's brain that controlled it's higher thought processes were taken out. It was also amputated of it's arms and legs, and had those stilt things grafted on in place of legs, as well as some sort of tools for menial jobs in the combine. Gamespot should have done their homework. I hope we actually get to fight some this time around, I was disappointed after I read the book, but never got to fight any in the original! </edit> <edit two point oh> Well sh!t, on the VALVe boards, they're saying this thing is only gonna be released via Steam, no retail version. Looks like I won't be playing, and I'll never know how everything turned out. You know, even with the long registry times, etc. I never complained. I figured 'Heck, they're able to make a little more money and cut the unneccesary link out of the deal (publishers), they still have a retail version, aside from me having to let my computer idle while it registers, doesn't afect me at all.' Stupid DD. </edit two point oh>
  18. Rule No. 1: Never trust a review from Gamespy or IGN. Rule No. 2: You never trust a review from Gamespy or IGN. I mean, seriously.
  19. Hrm, how much does a sperm whale weigh in at? "
  20. Man, are you looking to be banned or what?
  21. He admitted the original was utter bollocks aside from the engine...
  22. Even if Jade Empire turns out not to be my cup of tea, there will always be Spiderman 2 and Munch's Oddysee. I'm still rather pissed at MS for neglecting to give a PC port for that Oddworld title like there were for all the others. And the PC version of Spiderman 2...well, it wasn't even the same game.
  23. Shoot, between this and Spiderman 2 (got addicted to that at a friend's house the other day), I'm finally gonna have to fork out the money for an X-Box, meh.
