  1. Yep, it's definitely one of the best movies I've ever seen. Sci-fi at it's best, a simple yet intriguing idea.
  2. Old thread here. Pretty much this. In Awakenings they at least attempted to make them something more than just mindless killing machines, though I, personally, thought Bio's attempt wasn't very successful. Still, it was better than just the mindless bags of rotting flesh aimlessly roaming the lands to kill everyone that they were in DAO and DA2. In DAO and DA2, the only amount of intelligence the darkspawn showed above that of a completely mindless zombie is being able to function as a somewhat cohesive squad, to some degree. Tolkien goblins and orcs, though thoroughly one dimensional creatures, at least showed personality traits, such as greed, jealousy, and fear, that could be used to give them motivation for what they do beyond just simple bloodlust. Awakenings tried to assign some personality to darkspawn, though I found the attempt more comical than anything else, but DAO and DA2 darkspawn seemed to be driven by nothing more than a desire to kill. Anyway, maybe in DA3, the darkspawn will get fleshed out more and be shown to operate for some purpose other than just to kill? Hopefully they will go in the direction Awakenings tried to go in and do a better job of it? I hope so. I, personally, find it a lot more interesting fighting a foe that you can relate to, at least on some level, than stabbing mindless creatures of pure evil with no redeeming qualities whatsoever that you can kill without the slightest tinge of guilt (I think that's part of why zombies have become so popular in Hollywood and with game developers. They're an easy enemy to use where there is no worry about killing them being in any way morally wrong). Even when you look at a character like Jon Irenicus, who is about as evil and hateable an antagonist as it gets, there are parts of his downfall and descent into madness that you could kind of feel bad for the guy. He brought a lot of it upon himself, but you can look at it from his perspective. Corypheus.
  3. Closed due to length, new thread here.
  4. Old thread here. Agreed. I would be shocked if Indy beat Miami. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if San Antonio beat OKC.

  7. Closed due to length.. New thread here.
  8. Feeling a little bummed the last 2 days, the weather has been crappy and I'm a little worn out over Uni. I'm guessing he wants modern examples, like stemcell research, Scientology vs Psychiatry etc - instead of the usual suspects like creationists.
  9. Using ALT-F4 to avoid deaths is pretty gamey and being gamey to avoid penalties strangely enough warps the game difficulty of the game. You're free to do it of course, I don't mind - I'm simply commenting on the irony of being gamey and complaining about difficulty.
  10. The Witch is generally a boring character to play imo. Even without the Vaal gems she can summon an ungodly amount of various minions.. So playing her is generally just sending hordes of death to die. But if you're crashing it on purpose it seems you are generally gaming the game too, so of course it's easy.
  11. After seeing who won Eurovisions I realized, Austrians are basically the dwarves of Europe.. This also explains Woldan's obsession with heavy weaponry and axes.
  12. It was pretty insane, I sold a few for 5-6$, which was stupid enough in my opinion Freespace is on Steam now, a great game - Freespace 2 is currently not though (but available through GOG.com) If you have FS2 and haven't played it in a while I recommend coming back and checking out the modding scene. Diaspora was released a few years ago and it's awesome https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOb5d-pa51Q
  13. Yeah.. Would not advice with my friends, they would murder her right then and there - too many zombie games.
  14. Roleplaying, flirting, drinking, incoherent dillydallying and so on..
  15. Time for some badass squirrels.
  16. "Stanford bioengineers have developed a new circuit board modeled on the human brain, possibly opening up new frontiers in robotics and computing. Boahen and his team have developed Neurogrid, a circuit board consisting of 16 custom-designed "Neurocore" chips. Together these 16 chips can simulate 1 million neurons and billions of synaptic connections."The Article.
  17. Tried playing some Alpha Centauri.. First game, things are going ok - hmm Believers steam roll Spartans.. Ah crap, then me. Next game, Believers start next to me *groan*, she gets a Ogre in a pod and takes me out in turn 6.. 3rd game, takes me out in turn 7.. Yeah.. I'll just play something else then..
  18. First CoD since Modern Warfare I might actually buy.. I don't mind a narrative/railway shooter - if the story is actually good.
  19. Denmark invaded.. in Minecraft.
  20. Is there a source on that? Seems very popular and Steam seems to have gotten a lot of Indie game sales because of it.
