  1. I'm playing Crysis, since I now have a machine that can run it.. I bought if off a friend (along with Farcry 2) and I must say that both games are really pretty - if shallow. I finished Farcry 2 the other week and the story was weak, but I couldn't help loving that I could to sail, drive and run around in the enviroments - sniping people with my favorite weapon; The Dragunov. That might honestly be the reason why I kept playing.. Man I love that rifle..
  2. Aye, I'm so gonna be fired in march..
  3. Considering the source material I would say they are quite true to greek mythology - until Homer decided to write down the Illiad there were supposedly hundreds of interpretations where some characteres would swap places etc. But I know what you are getting at - it's a time honoured tradition though, every generation reinvents the classic tales to fit the modern situation..
  4. Your post is actually quite disturbing when you think about the context..
  5. It's wierd - so far everyone I know, who has Oblivion, has gone pretty psycho ingame - at least once.. I think this game is an agent of chaos and evil... Or maybe any game where you can stalk someone, break into their house - undress them and ragdoll the body around - is a game that "enhances" the inherent psychotic impulses in everyone.
  6. Happy New Year! It's 5 PM here and I'm about halfway through with cleaning up after the party last night.. I had 40 people over in a 60m
  7. It helps employment in the country you outsource it too? and if it's India you'll probably have to employ a whole bunch of people to make sure that everything runs smoothly..
  8. Now that's interesting, I get a ton of people from all over the world whose biggest dream is coming to the US and experience life here, and they will pay through the nose to do so. I don't believe the dislike is as extreme as you believe or have heard or read.... But what is a ton of people? 50.000 or even a million? .. from all over the world.. you are talking about a very very small number of people when you look at the entire population of the planet (outside of the US).. But you have a point! I probably have an exaggerated estimate. I was trying to imply by the statement "it's the new black" that the actual dislike is often as shallow as peoples adherence to fashion trends.
  9. tongue - back then you couldn't take silly pictures .. so they had to paint each other in silly poses, needless to say the parties pretty much died when someone took out the paintbrush to capture the moment..
  10. Nor does dislike equal anti.. I'm not saying this is one big flame fest on USA - but most Europeans dislike America these days.. it's the new black!
  11. I know it's not exactly the easiest position to stand firm against a full forum who doesn't like your views (or your country) - and if I was in your shoes I would probably be a little annoyed as well.. My "camp" can be viciously intolerant, particularly against libertarians, which is double ironic given that socialists consider themselves openminded and tolerant. I just think attacking stupid/inebt arguments with anger, is like trying to throw white-hot stones at your opponent, you burn yourself in the progress. I don't mind your views at all, most of my family are diehard conservatives and libertarians. So I know where you're coming from and I see the validity in many of the arguments (as you can imagine I'm used to heated discussions too). But I'll stand down, because I thought some of your anger were aimed at me (Europeans in general), but I see now that this was not the case.
  12. I have the fullest respect for these guys, but I think they are too ambitious for their own good. It seems as if they are trying to fix the game to a degree that is beyond what even a crack developer team would be able to do. The longer it takes, the more interest they're gonna lose, I'm not really keeping track of this anymore, but I will give it shot if it comes out within the next year.. but beyond that? I don't think KOTOR is a timeless masterpiece and I'm sure I'll be more annoyed with the limitations of the engine than awed by the story retold. It's already been 3 years. That's quite a long time and if they take another 3, that's essentially a lifetime in the computer industry.
  13. True, but I wasn't saying that it's true to Greek mythology - I meant that the character designs are quite interesting and fitting for the over the top greek theme, where heroes that didn't even live at the same time travel together.. It's just very logical that Hercules is huge as a mountain, since he's that strong.. It's simply the blatant "obviousness" of the design that I think they pulled off quite well. The game has many flaws, but I really like they approach they took with the setting and premise - because it's so exaggerated.
  14. I've seen worse ports too, but that was from small companies that lacked the expertise.. I would think that a port would be a no-brainer for Rockstar (even the Toronto division). I bought the game the day it came out - and I still can't play it.. My FPS is about 30-45, with high or medium settings, my issue was that the game ran in double speed, then the patch came and fixed that - but removed the sounds.. How do you play a story oriented game without sounds?
  15. I decided to buy "Rise of the Argonauts".. It could've been better, but the character designs are among the best I've seen in a game since "The Longest Journey". The hyper masculine and ultra femine characters are strangely appropriate for the setting of an over the top Greek myth.
  16. Scary comment - I hope you're kidding, but I get the feeling that a part of you really wish that.
  17. But the war wasn't illegal, as far as I understand it was passed in the Senate and Congress (correct me if I'm wrong). We cancertainly argue if the war was "just" but that a whole other discussion and irrelevant from a legal point of view. All the allied countries had the legitimacy of the war passed in their respective legal system and thus, even if the premise turned out not to be true, it's not illegal.
  18. A little overkill, but I think that would probably work quite well. If the old games are that important for you.
  19. I have to agree with the fact that it's a naive wish, wanting President Bush to be put on trial. Because if you open that can of worms then all the countries that joined the alliance would be open to prosecution as well.. It's unrealistic and it's never going to happen, unless there's a huge revolution and the new leaders want to put the blame on the old. Which of course ain't gonna happen in our lifetimes either. The validity of the claim is a whole other mess, what laws has he broken? The war and the mistakes he made, were all within the parameters of the law.
  20. Actually I have GTA IV and I'm running it quite decently.. I play the game at 1280x1024 with settings on high and I only experience minor lag when there's explosions, shootings and about a dusin police officers after me (at the same time mind you).. The biggest problem is bugs however - I had one that caused the game to go double speed (still not lagging) and then the patch came and fixed that, only to introduce a new bug - no sounds.. so I still can't play any missions, but I can run around and cause havoc.
  21. Some classes and builds are way easier than others - If you're not a cleric/favoured sould/druid Gann is essentially your only healer and he burns spells likes he's addicted to them.. That makes things a little tougher.. and if you're a class that doesn't deal much damage, well then it's alot tougher. What about Kaelyn as healer. I mean, she is a cleric. Some combos are definitely easier than others. My Ftr/Brb/Rog powered through the entire thing almost single-handedly with his absurd DR and even more absurd hit points while my Rogue was constantly getting splattered, because even though he had an pretty damn good AC (mid-high 40's) at the start of MotB, there were a lot of enemies that had equally high attack bonuses. Oh yeah, I forgot about the little bird.. I played through after I finished Storm of Zehir as a Hellfire Warlock - now that was a breeze!

  23. Aye, the biggest problem is probably that the game doesn't support your Quadro and can't figure out how to use it.. hence the crashing. Unless there's a specific hotfix at the producers webpage for old games - I say stick with the Radeon.
  24. After some upgrades this is my new rig.
