Movies you have seen recently
I just saw Cashback and it was just amazing. Lots of nudity, but done in a really stylish way.

Jack Thompson was right!
It's not like murder is some new or recent occurance, that just happened to come into exsistence with the introduction of video games. I find it tragic that the authorities would rather blame games and entertainment, than the real issue. and how cold it is to go into your parents room and say "close your eyes, I have a suprise for you" and then shoot them in the face..

What are you playing now?
Playing Super Mario 3 on mine.. I got a WII for christmas and it looks pretty cool next to the NES.. Like a gandfather and grandson in consoles.

This DOESN'T make Sense.... Is it possible that?
Revan was level 20, 5 years prior - I would think that's time enough to discover some nifty new tricks. Especially since he went from 1 to 20 in a matter of weeks. That being said - level 20 is completly insane in itself (in the D20 system).

Third xpac?
if a third expansion is on the way I'm pretty sure it was planned from the very beginning - at least as an option if the others sold well... In which case Atari and OE definitely signed an agreement on the whole series rather than individually for each expansion.

Any good games coming out?
That would explain it - and infostealer site would use a worm.. Anywho - the links are clean now it seems, I just wanted to warn people who didn't have antivirus software.

Boy saves man, man kills boy
The article stated they Crowley was actually heartbroken because the boy refused his love - and that he was clearly mentally ill. Crowley also clearly says that he wasn't able to live by his rules (satanism) in the death notes to Diego.. "I'll always love you, Diego. Please forgive me for everything. I couldn't stand the pain. One day you will know how much you hurt. How much I needed you. I'm sorry. And remember: always cheat others before others can cheat you, if they're clever enough. I wasn't, and I wouldn't want to be! Bravo! Mi chico Latino."

There's a virus on both of your links btw. What? It's Game Trailers. I know - I just had a virus warning in both, that there was a Worm in the links.. Tried following them now, but then I didn't get it..

Books
The End of Mr Y by Scarlett Thomas A strange book about a strange book. It's actually pretty good. From a review: "The End of Mr. Y is a thought experiment wrapped in a contemporary adventure novel that asks questions about thought, language, destiny and the very limits of being and time."

What are you playing now?
It's already been surpassed by Gears of War 2. It's art is much more striking than the ever boring jungle-military-camp stuff that Crysis displayed. I guess you didn't play for more than 30 minutes?
-
What are you playing now?
Well the CryEngine2 is still there and we've seen massive improvements on engines before in short time..
-
it's tech
I blame the giant space gnat behind Mars.

What are you playing now?
It's odd isn't it? You go for years not really caring, then you play Crysis and suddenly you start noticing just how crappy some of the games you've been playing actually look. I noticed how crude most games look in comparison. But it hasn't put me off playing any of them and I doubt it will. But once you've seen the vegetation being shredded and violently shaken by bullets and trees are falling around you as you fire the minigun - you scoff at other games were the vegetation is as static as a hologram.

What are you playing now?
My God, Crysis is a pretty game.. The attention to details is astonishing! ... I'm turning into a graphics whore!

Man with six billions kills self after losing one billion
Maybe he was about the lose the last of them? Besides the article cleary said the man was depressed - now if you're that depressed, I'm sure 6 billion wouldn't make any difference. Or maybe he felt really bad about all the people he had to fire because of this..

Ever get lost in a Wiki Wonder Land?
I saw an great joke cartoon once - about a guy who went in there to learn about batman and ended up reading about some obscure revolution in the 4th century Cambodia. There's few things I really cherish more than getting lost in encyclopideas, wikis etc. One can of course question the validity of the information on those sites, but I don't see how it's a bad thing to be drawned in to those kind of things. As long as you keep a healthy degree of skeptiscism.

What are you playing now?
Or the fact that mecenaries in small "normal" cars will stop, get out - only to be literally shot to pieces because you're sitting at a mounted turret.. Nobody is that stupid..

The Useless Information Thread IV
Oh man, the translator for the Danish newspaper (where I read about this article) must've been an idiot - because it said the exact opposite! Any-who.. I just read this .. "Isaac Asimov is the only author to have a book in every Dewey-decimal category." Now that is useless knowledge!
-
The Useless Information Thread IV
If you are refering to the recent poll made by some English newspaper it was actually the opposite.. Or are you talking about that personal mission you told me about last year?
-
The Useless Information Thread IV
On average you will fart at least 15 times a day.

The Useless Information Thread IV
Maybe you remember such timely classics like this? Well - Why not revel in nostalgic goo for a moment and relive/revive your glorious useless past? It's time for round 4 of The Useless Information Thread. Please add any useless information you know and let this be a resevoir of useless knowledge. For example: Did you know that the only insect that can turn its head 360 degrees is the praying mantis? or that 46% of the world's water is in the Pacific Ocean. The Atlantic has 23.9%, the Indian Ocean 20.3% and the Arctic has 3.7% (My roommate studies geography)

Why do game devs and filmakers always feel the need to butcher original material?
But that's exactly what happened with the myths you are holding in such high regard - they were hip and modern intepretations when they were written down and quite different from their original form. Because they needed to fit the actual time they were told in. I'm sure someone will defend the story of "Jason and the laser nunchucks" as a more original story one day.. It's a shame not to reinvent stories and myths, we should keep the original ones, but old stories are an excellent source of material for modern stories. I hate to quote the film, but the Leonardo DiCaprio film "Romeo + Juliet" is a great example of how you can take an old story, maintain most of the original dialouge and put it in a modern setting to great effect. Games could do the same and while RoTA is not a good example I have absolutely no problem with them trying, I find it refreshing compared to most of the bread and butter stuff that comes out these days.

New word competition
Good idea.. The only thing I can think of right now is "Cupase", which isn't that good.
