  1. I don't know if I should make an old man joke or a druggy joke. Flip a coin and assume I said one of them. Well, that's charitable either way. I assumed people would go with "sycophantic coward". All of the companions are cowards, though. Lantry and Eb both switch sides when faced with overwhelming power, Verse is *terrified* of being normal, Kills-In-Shadow would rather be stabbed to death by Disfavored than live without a pack, and Barik is so scared of being hurt that he's already started down the path of being the Archon of Cover-My-Ass. Except for Sirin. Sirin has ****ing *balls*.

  3. I'm sad because there is no "None" and "All of them". Each and every single one of the "gods" in Eora are total asses who only care about the kith as it relates to their stranglehold on power, right up to using kith as their own personal spare batteries. **** 'em all.
  4. The sheer range of different types of RPG Obsidian has made is actually pretty astounding. From Star Wars to a martial-arts RPG to a freaking *spy thriller* RPG, to an Iron Age set in a world where the evil overlod has already won, to post-apocalyptic punk and even South Park rpg. It's really quite impressive when you look at it overall.
  5. If Big Mouth can't solve a simple thing like diarrhea gut rot, I DO NOT want to know how he is accelerating the healing when he is supposedly a 3 rank surgeon! --- Thanks for the help. If I ever run around with Big Mouth unmodded and I run into the same issue, I'll submit a bug report about it as that's probably Not As Intended (especially since he can cure the gut rot if it infects the player's ship). Well in all fairness just because somebody can set a bone or stitch a wound doesn't mean they necessarily know how to diagnose and treat an infectious disease.
  6. I would disagree. I mean, in Tyranny, if you *aren't* going with the Rebels or for yourself, your choice is basically between a horde of rapist murderers, or full-on Nazi's. Both of them seemed straight-out evil to me. the disfavored didn't really seem like the nazi party to me, though i guess in retrospect not that far off the mark, however, i guess your comparison was more of the disfavored being the Waffen-SS? that fits better imho. To some extent, except that the Waffen--SS would actually accept volunteers and conscripts, where as the Disfavored will not take anybody who is not from from the North and preferably descended from one of Graven Ashe's original soldiers. Several times it's mentioned that one of the Disfavored's favorite tactics is actually to roll in, conquer the area, and if the place is small/unimportant enough round up everybody and just slaughter them. Barik in particularly is super open about the idea that everybody who is not a Northman is inherently inferior in every metric and can never perform up to the standards of the North. to the best of my recollection the Schutzstaffel (SS) didn't accept non-germans/ or those germans with "jewish features", unless in the latter case there was a large amount of data supporting their lineage. ---edit i should note that in anther thread i mentioned back in high-school i wrote a well researched paper on fascism, nazi germany was a fairly large chunk of that, and combined with my love of panzer general, and similar games from ssi it stuck a bit better then most of the assignments i did in highschool. The volunteers and conscripts weren't considered "part of the SS" but were called "foreign nationals serving under the command of the SS". It's the defining difference between an "SS Division" and a "Division of the SS". Regardless, their were entire units of volunteers and conscripts of non-German origin serving militarily for/under/in/however the SS. However you want to slice it, it's farther than the Disfavored are willing to go--the only non-Northman they'll take are menial laborers they treat like slaves.
  7. He's going to build a wall. And he's going to make the orlans pay for it. The Orlans will never pay for your ****in' wall!

  9. Judging from what I can see, his hands seem far to large.

  11. I like it. Now instead of being a decent sword, it's an *AMAZING* club. I'm chill with that.
  12. How does this not seem like a huge issue to you? Especially when considering that these types of games appeal to a largely older audience who tend to have more patience and less FOMO, therefore buying the game much later after all the patches. This can't be a sustainable business model, can it? I didn't call it unplayable or broken. I said many of the quests in Neketaka are broken. And you're doing it again: you're belittling Deadfire's problems by saying KOTOR 2 was unplayable at launch. No, I am not. You are *entirely* missing the *VERY CLEARLY STATED* point of my post.
  13. No clue how you managed that man. There is literally more content in Deadfire, it isn't a debate. There is more dialog, more maps, more bounties, more factions with more quests per faction, more everything except meaningless trash fights and main quest. My first pillars run was about 45 hours and I did everything except re visit undead Raedric, which takes maybe 30 minutes. My first Deadfire run where I did everything? 80. Are you like reading every book in the game and skipping the books that are repeats from Eternity or something? Someone actually looked up the numbers and there are 30+ more quests in POE (vanilla) than Deadfire. There are more bounties, but I completed most of those before ever getting the quests. The main quest is way shorter. While there might be more written words, due to the way the game is structured you don't see as large a percentage of the total words written in Deadfire compared to POE. Add in that I let the AI do all the combat, and its kinda a wonder that Deadfire lasted me as long as it did (I did a lot of pointless sailing around the map to uncover all the fog of war). Also, I didn't read every book in either game. Most of the quests in Eternity 1 were also trash quests you could complete easily. Like the merchant at Defiance Bay's broken bridge. That quest takes a whole 3-5 minutes and doesn't even require leaving the one map. bounties (which almost if not more than 50% of the Deadfire quests)  This thread is golden.
  14. I accept that I'm probably the minority, but I'd rather have the penetration than the breastplate, if it came down to it. And even if they wrote DOC into a future expansion, she's not someone who I'd want to see again. DoC was my #1 favorite character from PoE, hands down, and I'm *REALLY* sad that they decided to kill her off in the sequel. Such crap.
  15. I'm not saying "it's okay". I don't think anybody is; I'm pretty sure that's a strawman. What I'm saying is "It's normal in the industry, this is actually better than many, and you shouldn't flip your **** over it". All game developers need to be held to a high standard, but they shouldn't be held to some imagined standard of perfection from thirty years ago that didn't even actually exist at the *time*. Nor should Obsidian's *today* be painted with the brush of Obsidian from ten years back. All this "Bugsidian" crap really annoys me, because it totally ignores the *VERY* real improvement Obsidian has made over the course of the last decade. It's like everybody forgot just *how* buggy KOTOR II, NWN 2, Alpha Protocol, etc actually *were*. When you call "Deadfire" an "unplayable broken game", it's blatant hyperbole. KOTOR II was *LITERALLY* unplayable at launch for *almost everybody*. That's not a joke or an exaggeration; it's code was so broken that it *did not function*. They had to patch it day one *just so it would work*. I'm not saying this to excuse any of the bugs in Deadfire, I'm saying this because it's important to understand the context within which Deadfire exists compared to other games by the same developer and to give Obsidian their due in improvement.
  16. *remembers game from 20 years ago that wiped his harddrive on uninstall* Oh, yeah. That's totally a new thing.
  17. It's not that much better with other godlike types. Tekehu gets this super caring fish mommy, while I'm stuck with Berath who openly tells me "Go do this and that or I'll kill you". Or Magran who insults me the first time I try to speak to her and drops a volcano on my head. Or Galawain (I assume) who tries to feed me to a kraken because I don't agree with him betraying his own principles . Thanks a lot, moms and dad. That's because they don't think of you as their children. You're their spare battery. The gods are *asses*.
  18. How is saying the game is number 35 on steam a false assumption with no evidence? Dont you have steam ? Go have a look for youself. Number 35 is clearly not an ideal situation to be in . And all i said is the game is currently trending to not sell well which is pretty clear from the evidence. wish some people would take there fanboy hat off and look at the facts sometimes....jeeesus christ You also said that Deadfire has "flopped", that "three expansions are not expansions they are the game split up into 4 parts", and are implying that possibly the entire RTwP market will collapse because of this one game. A *series* of false assumptions, as I noted. I gave my clear explanation on why i think the expansions are not real expansions and the steam charts reflect the truth in my statement. why isnt deadfire selling then? why dont you chime in with some constuctive input instead and get your head out of the sand Glad you dont work at obsidian . People need to learn from criticism look at where they went wrong and not do it again in the future. Criticism needs to be constructive. Nothing you've said here is constructive, it's just you bitching about stuff that has no real meaning. You don't know how much money Deadfire is making; all you know is it's position in the Steam sales--which doesn't reflect all sales and doesn't tell you anything about how much money it's making. You're "evidence" for the expansions not being real expansions boils down to "Well they weren't released all at once", which is a meaningless statement that doesn't provide any evidence for the baseless assertion that they were cut-up and being released separately to increase profit. Literally nothing that you've said is evidence of anything, at all, in any way. It's just you looking at stuff and making assumptions based on half-assed knowledge and pre-determined thoughts. And then pretending like it's some kind of deep, constructive, important criticism that Obsidian needs to take note of to save their business. I'm quite sure Feargus has all the actual data he needs to make these calls, and you're biased uninformed forum post doesn't help him at all.
  19. Eora was minus one more murderous religious bigot?Durance is amazing! Btw, been meaning to tell you: I live your baby elephant man (profile) pic! Oh, Durance is an amazing character. Well written, deep, interesting, etc. What I mean by my Durance criticism is that, looking at him as an in-game, in-setting person, *he's a **** person*. And thank you.
  20. No but i have been watching the steam charts. The reason i have been watching the charts is becasuse i love BG2 style games and i was hoping that deadfire would do really well so they can make more of them. It clearly isnt selling well. Very clearly not selling well. But is it going to make so little money that it won't recoup the money Obsidian spent to make it? Do you have any way of proving or disproving that assertion? Do you have sales charts, profit graphs, cost/benefit analysis? Or are you just making assumptions?

  22. Short answer: No. Long answer: No, and this thread is based on a series of false assumptions with no evidence.
