  1. What's best value CPU wise now. Thinking about finally ditching my duo for a quad.
  2. 1) As we've seen with Wikileaks "airing" is exactly what these leak sites amount to - hot air. Malfeasance in government has to be known about to be fixed, but merely being known is insufficient. There have to be robust accountable bodies in place to tackle the corruption. 2) Most free states have parliamentary committees of elected persons, appointed legally to deal with leaks. 3) The public press handle leaked material all the time, and generally pursue the story, not just air it. What if 2 and 3 fail? Then you're ****ed sideways anyway. At that point the engine of government is so badly twisted that leaking material won't help. Internal oversight is nice when it works. It doesn't all the time. The press can be more worried about the bottom line, lawsuits, etc. and often times don't feel particularly adventurous about being the first to stick their necks out. Ideally whistle blowing entities like Wikileaks hold themselves to a high standard and consider whether the material is in the public interest and in doing so build up a reputation for integrity. It's not a perfect word.
  3. I dunno, if I can't play with you lot on account of ping considerations and not being able to choose server freely... not that interested.
  4. Guild Wars was the only MMO i ever played an extended period. It's probably true that it's not as good as the other offerings out there, but I had fun collecting all the skills and prestige gear and basking in the adoration of noobs at my ludicrously expensive tattoos.
  5. I don't care for Assange personally, but there definitely needs to be someplace to air the dirty laundry of governments considering all the sick twisted things that have been done in the name of national interests.
  6. Didn't the Swedish office of Wikileaks split some time ago to create their own operation because they were fed up with Assange and his top down management style and too much focus on one person. Well, just leak there when you feel the urge folks. I don't like to leak with so much public attention anyway, it spoils my concentration.
  7. Rage has impressive production value, and the shooter mechanics are pretty solid but it lacks that intangible something that makes you care about the world. It feels empthy and MMOish. The made for console inventory and journal fights you constantly so you make an effort to use it as little as possible.
  8. Programs should have some sense of wheter they are nag screen worthy or not. Every time I log into my work computer Adobe acrobat and Flash want me to know that there is a new version. I can't update because of security settings I don't control, but boy am I aware... Can't turn the notifiers off. Ohh joy. I am slowly starting to hate them. Well acrobat I hated already, PDF is a steaming pile of crap, although sometimes necessary.
  9. I think the dude is supposed to be a kappa. That's established folklore not a random weirdo suit. Just sayin'.
  10. No, and they are mucho expensive. So much that you might want to sink a few points into barter.
  11. I can honestly say I never gave my toenails much thought.
  12. Too late buddy, I already bowed out of that discussion
  13. The worst I've seen in level scaling lately is Dead Islands Diabloesque weapon rq. You can have a 'strong, flimsy hammer'. Strong because you need to be lv 40 to swing it, and flimsy because of the durability stat. A lv 40 Zombie poses exactly the same challenge for the player as a vl1.
  14. And you will be standing in a dark corridor just when the game autosaves, unable to see the in-game result of fiddling around with the make-a-face for half an hour. It's tradition.
  15. Keep them in the dark for as long as possible seems to be the preferred tactic. It's what you would do if your game was utter sheit, but it's the good tittles as well. Why risk anything when you can just spin a tale about new supposedly revolutionary mechanics without having to show your hand.
  16. Spill the beans. We promise not to tell anyone.
  17. Clintion is psychotic now... kind of an amateur blog thing I guess.
  18. I grudingly admit to being a little excited about this.
  19. Caesar had to be stabbed in the senate, Louis XVI had to be guillotined for all to see. Advancements in our justice systems wouldn't have done away with the necessity. The loyalists needed to know that the battle was lost, now and down the line. Of course it went rather poorly for the new regimes in my examples, but the logic is still sound I think. A small price to pay held up against civil war.
  20. Doesn't matter. You can have your bone.
  21. Son ? Really... Tell me where do you put games that have view port switching in your rigid category lineup.
  22. FPS, yeah it also refers to a certain type of bang bang game, not just the view port. At least in my mind.
  23. So Gears of War is not a shooter ? You managed to make me look bad by swooping in before the edit, bastard.
  24. 99% of playtime is concerned with shooting things, but sure whatever, we can call it an RPG.
