The first gay president
You call that a lot. 20 years ago, and for the rest of the time the the supreme court rather than congress simply unianimously rule on civil rights activism, or indeed civil rights revisionism. In doing so they use obscure legal points that have little basis in real life to dictate the application of the law. Not at all unlike religous dogma. In any event you would think the application of law would not be so incomprehensible that it becomes a constant battleground. It should be the law itself that was subject to constant debate, not its interpretation. This is because the law is not allowed to change to reflect the society we live in, or rather you live in. Or at least not allowed to change fast enough.

It can happen, but you hold it in the same regard as one would a religious document. One does not simply change the constitution. The constitutionality of this or that is constantly being debated, and with the document itself being largely unchanged it's very hard for people to understand it, so you need scholars to explain it to them, interpret it as it were. The rulings of the supreme court becomes the basis of law because politicians can't get it together and change what needs chaning.

So hockey defense is a lot of standing around. You don't often hear of 42 year old footballers, well other than goalies.

Odd institution. With appoinments being largely political rather than meriticious simply being bigoted or pro life/Roe vs. Wade would be a qualification in itself. We would be more inclined to simply legislate rather than have legal precedent be such a major determining factor.

Don't click that, it's babies with their brains busted open.

Movies you've seen recently
It's not like he's defiling an exquisite piece of cinema. Highlander was pretty goofy. The sequels even more so.

Prometheus opens in less than a week. In a world of artificially manufactured hype that has you naturally leery I'm genuinely excited.

The Joy of Human Rights - The EU Way..
We like to maintain tense in our sentences. I'm going to mark that as an error.

I like how it says that imprisonment loses you the right to posess firearms. I bet the guards are happy about that one. For my money it depends on the crime. Political participation is part of what includes you in society. Many people don't care I know, but in principle. Having some small representation would also help ward off abuse in prisons.

Best Android 4.0 phone to buy?
Memory errors are somewhat too common on Nokia and Motoroller Androids. Get the Samsung, you may come to regret not havning enough ram. Some Apps are finicky about expansion memory in particular.

It's upgrade time
Too bad they're so ugly. You would think they could have come up with a more muted version for those who don't want a hotrod married to a cylon raider in the living room. But no, they're pretty much all like that.

Appart from the fact that you can get it wrong and damage something valuable, ask Bokshi, putting it together is not much harder than building a lego castle.

What are you playing now?
My feeling on this is either go full monty or don't bother. Very few games ever have a fulfilling story. If it doesn't have intrinsic reward, like talking to an NPC you want to know more about, don't go on endlessly about the desperate need to retrieve the mcguffin/fulfill the prophecy. There is also a really basic fail in the way many assassinations were designed in the first games. You would get a 'mission failed' just for being discovered. That's not a game stopper, that's a result, now show me the consequences, don't quit just after it got interesting.

I can't muster the will to complete it. Been playing warlock. It's insanely addictive. I kinda wish my towers could be set to auto though, so you don't have to give the same order every turn.

I dunno, they are deliberately baiting the cops. Nothing wrong with saying 'you get one chance, cut it out'. They are cops, not the royal guards

Diablo 3 Sign-Up
I see nothing to get me excited in the gameplay footage. I feel like I have played it, liked it, and gotten tired of it already.

Yes those. I just haven't seen a turn based game in a while.

I can recommend trying out the demo. Unlike some games, this one gives a fair indication of what to expect. What's with the octangular grid (actually what's the word for a something with 6 sides) it's visually distracting. Getting the demo though.

What you did today
Was going to see Avengers, but I left my credit cards at work. Looking at a wicked replacement for my bike that got stolen. Of course the more wicked the faster it will get stolen as well. Does anyone know if one of those GPS transponders do any good. Maybe I should get insurance this time, it's just so ludicrously expensive and homeowner's doesn't cover. Well not unless it was stolen from your livingroom.
