  1. Who decides what socialism in its purest form is, you ?. Why not deal with the examples that are actually out there in the world instead.
  2. Depends who you ask. The Scandinavian model originated in the end of WW2 where people had gotten used to the notion of pulling together and of efficient management brought on by military necessity. The Blitz and all that. There was a desire and a will to lift up the standard of living for everyone. People came to expect the government to handle more aspects of society In countries that are less politically stable and with greater wealth disparity, like much of South America, the ideology is usually more pronounced and retains much of the notions competing classes from Marx. A more pronounced underclass becomes a political base that can't be ignored.
  3. So you don't have to spend all your hard earned money buying a gun to protect you from the lowlife. Like I said it only really makes sense if you can afford it. Socialism and by inference government spending expands and contracts with the economy. I'd call it a quality of life luxury.
  4. Adressing the extreme wealth disparity makes sense to me, less the masses forget that money is just an imaginary thing we made up to tell poor people from rich. Socialism is just making a safer society with redistribution. Makes sense if you can afford it. Even Cesar knew the importance of keeping the plebs happy.
  5. Communism was supposed to propose an alternative to Capitalism, meaning the workings of the market economy as opposed to a political ideology also commonly dubbed Capitalism. This didn't really work out. Capitalism appears more or less to be the default human organisation. Communism is as dead as insofar as it is marginalized and irrelevant as an international political movement, which was one of its key aims after all.
  6. Pour powder, seal the chamber, mush the bullet into the grease or whatever that is, place percussion caps at the other end. It's like loading six muskets. Takes about that long too. If you had to travel back in time on a mission in je olde west it would be just the thing though.
  7. The Lee Van Cleef gun is stupid, unless you are Lee Van Cleef.
  8. I hear walking for the rest of your life can really suck....oh not what you meant. I'm thinking of buying a revolver with my tax refund, any advice? How is this an accident. Looks more like murder.
  9. Pirates got really boring, but that's to be expected after 4 of them. I guess you can count on Star Wars not being the least bit controversial and trying hard to please everyone. It's not like they could do worse than Lucas if they tried though.
  10. My mage had that firestorm spell as well as one that knocks a bunch of enemies over when they're surrounding you. He also had equipped the equivalent of fireball and ice shooting from his fists as "right hand weapon slot" items. They tended to cover all the bases I need covered. I only have 60 something magic and still kicking ass. The only attribute I have maxed out is melee. The rest are all between 40 and 70 and that's after finding most of the stat plants. I guess if you crafted all the potions and didn't level all your stats you could max out more, but there's no point. I'd rather have the musket as a viable option than max out magic. It's the only ranged attack that doesn't suck balls. The aiming is horrible. Either you crank the mouse speed all the way down and you can't turn, or aiming is all over the place. Musket is the only tolerable option because it has range.
  11. I think I'm near the end. About to do the ritual. A bit problematic that I've been too powerful for a while now for anything to be challenging despite spreading out my skills about as wide as possible. Didn't bother making the stat boosting potions, just ate the plants. I also can't help skipping the dialogue because everyone seems to take forever to get to the point and they all seem to talk very slowly.
  12. I am worried that Han and Luke will just be there for 5 minuites to say hi and get their checks and the rest of the movie will be about teen troubles with characters from the ****ty Clonewars spinoff. I'd say I'm guardedly optimistic based on the director's track record.
  13. I think I'm about to cave in and get the 500gb samsung. I need an additional storage drive. I still have an IDE interface disk but it's not going to last forever and I think IDE legacy connectors.won't either. 500 is not really enough, but I've got 8 ATA slots to fill up. Only using 4.
  14. How do you accidentally shoot someone through a door anyway. I know things are bad in SA, especially if you have a nice big house but shooting without knowing what you are shooting at.
  15. When people stop commenting on it, like you and I are doing now for instance.
  16. My theory is that there are fewer people here who pretend to be women than on 4chan. In the end it's a zero sum game. There are no women on the internets.
  17. I think you are pretty safe here without a 'no girls allowed rule'. Just sayin'
  18. So micro means playing the game well. Do you guys even know ?
  19. Keeping track of lots of simultaneous developments and figthing several skirmishes at once, that's kinda what RTS is to me. If you don't enjoy filling up your numpad with hotgroups then it's not for you. However simple actions like ordering or changing research and production should be so effective that being a little better with the mouse has no impact.
  20. What does micro refer to. Micro manage, as in optimising various automatic operations manually.
  21. It has already been stated, but it can't be said enough that the whole concept of measuring skill by 'actions per second' as they do with some professional gamers is completely moronic. It just means that there is something wrong with the UI or the core design if how fast you can click a building and queue units has any effect on the outcome. I have played a lot of Homeworld and I must have played every Rome/Shogun game and enjoyed them a lot. Starcraft type games I could never get into. Granted there is a lot of frantic clicking in Homeworld. I dunno if knowing all the shortcuts makes you win games, but it definately helps.
  22. Yes I know what RTS stands for, but I like to have both tactics and strategy.
  23. I genrerally dislike RTS gams that center around various production and research buildings. They tend to lack tactics and wind up being strategy games instead. The race for research and resource dominate everything.
