It's one thing to inject highly energetic particles into an electricity grid whose only purpose is running a motor or a light bulb. It's another entirely to inject them into a grid which a) runs on integrated circuits of billions of transistors, and b) is connected to billions of integrated circuits of billions of transistors. And these particles and any current build-up wouldn't just be reaching these devices through the grid, but also directly hitting the devices themselves. Essentially, electronics of today are infinitely more complex compared to 90 years ago, when for example transistors (or any type of computer) did not exist, and the triode valve had barely been invented a few years earlier. This increased complexity significantly increases the risk of component failure, but the components themselves are also far more sensitive to stresses and deviations in current, not least of all because of the magnitude of size difference.

Eliminate the universal power cooldown timer. In the DS2 system, if you cast a power, you can't cast any other powers until that one regenerates. This severely reduces the usefulness of having more than one power. However if every power (or perhaps every class) had its own cooldown timer, multiclassing would become viable due to the increased number of powers available for use. It would also allow for interesting power combos, though whether or not you make the powers synergistic I guess a topic for another thread.

They didn't have computers back then, or computer-controlled electricity grids. But I guess that kind of observation is beyond you.

What do you mean by min-max it? Do you mean people purposely power-gaming or under-power gaming? Or something else? For example giving the fighter low mental stats and high physical stats, then make a bard or paladin to be the talker of the party. Oh ok, I understand now. Not quite power-gaming perhaps, but imo not too far off, really. Um, it's pretty much the definition of powergaming!

That's not how it works. A solar flare isn't like a laser, hitting a precise spot. It's a wind of highly energetic particles that plays havoc with, and gets dispersed across, earth's various electromagnetic systems. It might be fair to say, however, that the night-time side of the earth would escape the damage. I'm no expert on geophysics though.

I'm really unsure what that swearword was. Test: **** [previews post] Yes, it was definitely the latin preposition meaining "with," which is sometimes colloquially used as a word for a bodily fluid produced during joyous occasions. Also, wasn't "tyte" primarily a Sawyerism? Has it entered use by all of Obsidz, or does Team DS3 have their own assessment of the product's surpassing quality? (Or, perhaps, has use of the term been discontinued to avoid association with the Aliens' project's premature termination?) Summa **** laude.

... And only half as powerful as a character that had gone pure melee, or pure archery. Nope, that is the case in DS2, but not in DS1. If I was gone pure melee, I was maybe 8 lvls higher (dont feel like extracting the exp values with the siege editor right now for exact numbers). But now I can shoot from range, and when they get close, my sword, shield and plate armor comes in action. True, the damage is lower, but I have more survivability = more up time = more damage over time. DS2 has skill points, and when you go 2 classes, you need to spread the skill points into the two trees to make them both effective, so you won't be able to reach the high end skills. That's an admirable defence of the system, but I don't buy it (not when even the devs advise against multiclassing in-game because it weakens your char), nor do I notice any difference between experience+skill the system across DS1 and 2? If anything, DS2's implementation of powers allows for slightly more powerful multi-classes than DS1. Titan Quest's system WAS pretty fun, but I doubt we'll see it used.

Scientists are aware of the immense power of the sun's solar flares, but modern human history has never experienced a proper solar storm the likes of which happens every 100 years or so.
