  1. Some thoughts: So the fifth Cylon isn't on the fleet? But didn't Moore say it was? I guess that means it's on Earth. The final four were pretty lame. Besides being useless, they didn't even play much of a role in finding Earth - I mean is that it? Are they just sacks of meat now? Seems like blowing up the resurrection ship was part of an attempt to not have to deal with whether or not the final five can resurrect. Looks like it's setting it up for the Fifth Cylon to be pulling the strings of both races. And what about the Evil Cylons?
  2. This isn't going to be answered anytime soon right? I want 4 to 6. I'd be content with 4, but they could decide to go with 3 and allow one cohort for a total of 4. If we're going for this mix of PCs and NPCs, then I'd like 2 to 3 PCs and 2 to 3 cohorts. So that's still 4 to 6 characters I guess.
  3. We all got one. Except Pidesco (not pretty enough). It's a Nigerian 419 scammer who has been around for years. Ok, so he's probably not Nigerian, since he's from Senegal or wherever it is, but one of the poor African countries where life is hard and scamming is easy.
  4. I sort of liked it as well. Hayden can't act much, but he is very decent in combat scenes. Though that might have something to do with his constant constipated face... Anyway, it was worth the sitting. Quirky battles, rather nice new faces for actors and, while the Jumpers vs. Paladins overall plot reeks of camp, it was a decent watch. Agreed, definitely. A March? A March out of October? That's rather abysmal.
  5. Is it actually worth watching Psych? I watched like 4 episodes and found it a tad boring; and I found things like Reaper, Chuck, Black Books (all British comedy), Daria, Scrubs, How I Met Your Mother, even My Name Is Earl, to be quite funny.
  6. Yeah but you cover all that stuff in 2nd and 3rd year of a computer science course. Edit: although the fact that they quiz you on it is surprising and I suppose that's the point you're making.
  7. I feel so let down... she said she'd 'explain' herself to me. :(

  8. Interesting. Because they're scared they'll fall back to imperialism but don't know what to do without it?
  9. This isn't going to be answered anytime soon right? I want 4 to 6. No. It's not. Yes it is, because my taste of things is clearly superior compared to yours. No reason to get excited, the thief he kindly spoke.
  10. We'd like to do this for SoZ (though it will definitely NOT retroactively affect MotB and the OC). Can't make any promises yet, but we'd like to. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN oh, and unquestionable WINRAR decision that's already been made: All for great justice!
  11. I watched Flash Gordon today. It was a 1980's film. It's so corny and camp, but I really enjoyed it. Quite hilarious. The themesong was by Queen, too, which was great.
  12. ...and the crates? Oh my god, man. YOU'RE A GENIUS. This is where I finally get to realise my vision of a secret crate level.
  13. Maybe the quests you pick up have time limits. Wait a week to save the child lost in the forest? Wolves got to her. Wait too long to investigate the ruins? Other adventurers plundered it. However it could be a waste of effort. Instead of playing through say the 6 scenarios created, a player'd only get to choosea few if the rest time out. Otherwise mod them so the timing would have a different post-event scenario. Quest time limits are interesting. It's like stat-based dialogue. On the one hand, the player feels a sense of glee when they get it, and it increases replayability, but on the other hand, you risk the player not getting to experience it (see the people who played Torment first time as dumb warrior and subsequently dismissed the game). I think it's important that the time-limit and stat-based dialogue isn't transparent. You shouldn't be able to figure out how it works lest you risk violating the atmosphere. At the same time you need to ensure generally there is plenty of options available if the player doesn't get that option, make sure there are interesting consequences and/or alternatives so the player doesn't fuss too much about having missed something.
  14. Kohan was the bomb! But indeed, cult following may not imply decent market saturation, as Pidesco implies. Perhaps you'll have to do some research to determine what qualifies and what doesn't. I'd certainly say Giants qualifies, but at the same time I hear a fair bit about it in gaming circles. Perhaps Torment, System Shock 2, Deus Ex, Bloodlines? It's hard to tell what's a cult following and what's a common game on a forum like Obsidian. Psychonauts Giants - definitely Beyond Good & Evil Jagged Alliance 2 - definitely Anachronox - definitely Arcanum Bloodlines Fallout 1 and 2 Torment - most likely Total Annihilation - most likely System Shock 2 - most likely Deus Ex 1 NOLF - definitely Thief games Blood - would be an interesting choice Spellforce Undying - definitely It depends on the target audience really. Arcanum, Bloodlines, Torment and Fallout probably wouldn't be underappreciated by the RPG crowd for example. But Deus Ex 1, NOLF1, Thief, and System Shock 2 may well be underappreciated by the FPS crowd (how many played DX2 and assumed they didn't need to play DX1 because it would be worse?) Also consider not how well the game was received, or its cult following, but whether it was overshadowed by a big seller (e.g. Half-Life, Quake, whatever) at time of release. Not many people go BACK in time to find good games unless explicitly instructed to. Again, depends on the target audience.
  15. Living on Lesbos might be good if you're a lesbian, but if you're a bloke I think you'd be very sexually frustrated. I bet that's why they're complaining.
  16. The crates are spreading? I wonder if barrels and cats will catch on in other forums. In fact, if they don't put cats in SoZ, it's going against everything IWD and BG stand for. Tell me, what type of game would IWD2 be without cats? A lesser one, that's what.
  17. That was a really interesting story. There are parts I strongly identify with (your childhood, horrible school-life, I've dropped out of university due to my ADHD), and others I don't (army, employment, etc), but it was nonetheless very inspiring. I think you paint a good picture of why no matter how badly you screw up, you can always pull yourself back up, which is why I'm going to try and go back to uni next year and do computer science. Thanks for sharing.
  18. Greeks are fairly homophobic, that's all.
  19. Today I started coding a 2D side-scroller in Python. I'm using SDL as a multi-platform layer but might use OpenGL later. It's cool. I have a guy and he waddles around and jumps. There are balls that roll along their platform and if they touch you, you lose health. It's just a matter of getting to the end without dying so far, but I'll add weapons later.
  20. Guys, I just found an important topic about NWN2: SoZ that this totally awesome guy made: http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewt...1&forum=128
