No clue who the girl is. Impressed with the direction they're taking Diablo, though. Play co-op with me and I'll give you your raving drunk. Deal!
-
Didn't you watch the cinematic trailer? No. WHERE? I'M USING CAPS BECAUSE ADRIA WAS AWESOME AND I NEED TO KNOW! Unconfirmed. Have I been wrong so far? :D And yes, she was awesome. I want Farnahm back, too. It's not Diablo without a raving drunk.
-
Lady? Lady? What Lady? I heard Adria is returning, though.
-
Damn. That can be a good and a bad thing. I don't want them to run out of things to say and then just repeat "We have nothing more to talk about." over and over again, either.

Does something like this actually exist in America or is it just something invented by Euro commiesTM (or your regional equivalent)? Edit: I guess that I should stress that I'm not trying to be confrontational or anything, I'm just interested. I think most people in Australia see Americans as a bunch of gun-runners, too. But Australians don't exactly have a good view of America in general, so... slightly biased. Edit: Although American tourists are great to get drunk with! European tourists can be a bit snooty.

So, who's up for a Diablo 2 game NOW? Come on I only need 2 other people to play with to make it worthwhile. I have a good article on that. It's about Valve saying PC gaming is the inevitable evolution of entertainment, and saying how they think Blizzard is the posterchild for it, and services similar to Steam are the future. Good, well-founded read: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?artic...0866&page=1 Oh, and to put to rest the splash riddle:

This is one of the most confusing topics I've read in a while.
-
Yeah, I was wondering that too. In the IE games you could (in most situations) chose who to use to talk to an npc, but not switch during the dialogue, you had to decide beforehand. Would probably be wiser to do it that way, otherwise one can really switch between high int / high cha / high intimidate-skill / high bluff-skill etc. which is kind of lame.Checking for multiple skills would solve that too to a certain extent, agreed. Why? I think it makes sense that you offer the full range of options based on the entire party, not just arbitrarily due to whoever is speaking at the time. More like Torment, where even if there were extra possibly 'better' options, the lower/worse ones still showed; so you show all the options that any party member could unlock, and half the time the person will still pick based on roleplaying.

Moat: Yeah, Amazon and Paladin were my favourite classes. I'll be gnashing my teeth if I don't see them return.
-
Cheers Dan. Example screenshot: Hopefully they reduce the saturation a bit.

There will be a hardcore mode. You get to choose both your gender and class. Secret cow level? "No comment." Barbarian is back. New Witch Doctor class. Tristram is back. It was repopulated by merchants and advneturers. The Tristram Cathedral/Church should be interesting. Deckard Cain is in Tristram. Diablo 3 is set 20 years after Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction. There will be PvP (no doubt requiring mutual consent this time). They've set it to 8 players per game for now. If something in the environment looks like you can interact with it, you can you. The game world will be bigger and deeper. "Anything you see on the ground is yours; no mad dash to pick up loot." "Our aim is to make it a better role playing game."
-
Blizzard is being sketchy, but it seems probable it will use Battlenet 2.0. The game is centred around co-op play. It's not an MMO. It's designed to be low-end - "If you can click a mouse, you can play Diablo 3." Sort of like Diablo 2 was, respectively. Also good in terms of minimising lag, no doubt. Also judging by the videos and stuff, the game is at least 50% done. There will be a singleplayer mode.

If Blizzard was an independant company you'd be right about them having more money than God. Blizzard makes $120 million dollars in gross revenue each month from WoW alone.
-
Screenshots from a video camera: The website: http://eu.blizzard.com/diablo3/ If you think this should be merged back to the other Diablo thread, go ahead. Just figured a new thread for the concrete evidence and info would be a good fresh start. Edit: God dammit, the trailer was a rickroll
-
Is that a problem karka? It works for them, people love it, and they make sure they improve each time. Why so bitter? I for one don't want every game to be a Planescape: Torment, much as I love it.

Just some trivia for you: Blizzard generates $120 million dollars each month from WoW alone. So yeah, I'd be scared if I were planning to release a game, any game, at the same time as Diablo 3.
-
Hey guys, Blizzard is giving out these notebooks at the announcement day: And another photo of Diablo: Need I say more?
-
Hey guys, so it turns out it was The Lost Vikings:

Somehow, I doubt they should be laughing about the fact they just pissed disenchanted a bunch of fans. Diablo 3 isn't a 'right' or an 'obligation', but if you're going to parade about with teasers and splash screens, you don't deliberately foster hype for what the product is not unless your aim is a PR nightmare. Id est: Blizz ain't stupid; it's not a WotLK or SC2 announcement (even if it isn't a Diablo 3 announcement). Edit: and lol, http://diablo3.no (Norway) redirects to Blizzard.com and is registered to Vivendi. Normally they're smart enough to not redirect the diablo3 domains they hold (e.g. http://www.diablo3.com/). Based on a whois, creation date and update date were the same time: 2006 (which is very roughly when Diablo 3 is speculated to have been really officially given the green light at Blizzard). Also, the Diablo 3 server/domain was last modified 8 days ago. It was created 10 years ago. It's currently hidden from the world by a time-out message, but Blizzard owns it and it runs Apache. No doubt getting it ready for when all the country-specific portals redirect to it. They also registered diablo3.ru in April this year.

I don't think so. They're not targetting at the same audience with their current projects Those companies responsible for Sacred 2 or Argonauts however... Largely irrelevant. Target genre isn't important so much as target audience, which is often interested in multiple genres. I recall for example Icewind Dale was overshadowed by Diablo 2, while Half-Life 1 which was overshadowed by Quake 3. Similarly, PS:T was arguably somewhat overshadowed by BG2. All these titles tend to do very well over time as cults, but it's the initial sales that are actually important to publishers. It's largely related to how the average gamer doesn't buy multiple games in a certain time-period, but the single most hyped game of that period (and unfortunately, but not unpredictably, usually the more 'superficially' fun one). Obviously exceptions exist in various ways, with us as the prime example. It's a phenomenon not restricted to games, where in general a high quality, and even cheap product can flop because it was overshadowed by a more widely hyped product, by one that was simply released a bit earlier, or even by one that's more anticipated but expected to be released later. I'm no expert, but I think something like this happened with the console wars and the xbox (well, one of them... they're always competing).
-
Ya. By all accounts they're making sure they keep things sufficiently ambiguous. I don't doubt that it was deliberately chosen to appear superficially similar to the Lich King, but I highly doubt they'd got to the effort of a teaser splash page just to announce a game they've already announced. It'll be a multi-release event, where they discuss Wrath, SC2, and another new project - Diablo 3.
