Because nobody disagrees with the rape charge and the topic is boring when everybody agrees.

For the record, I absolutely do not think that Polanski should be a free man and not have to pay for his crime. Based on the way he's talking, I get the feeling my numerical friend is in the same boat. Agreed.

In vast swathes of the world the age of consent is 13 or 14. That signifies to me cultural difference which a lot of Americans (where it is 18 or 19) refuse to accept.

Please don't post the same thread in multiple forums, thanks. http://forums.obsidian.net/index.php?showtopic=53321

Sprung, Rorie! :D -
The specs aren't hard-coded limitations by the developers. If your computer can run it, it can run it. Nobody will stop you. They are just recommended minimum requirements, usually to prevent lots of graphics lag. If what you say is true I have assassin's creed and my CPU doesn't meet the minimum specs and when I click the game, instead of the game starting, why does the Detect Tool start up and tell me that my CPU is not good enough to play assassin's creed? Because the people who coded the game are ****. Go to the Assassin's Creed folder and run 'AssassinsCreed_Game.exe'. If that fails, run 'AssassinsCreed_DX9.exe' and if that fails the DX10. If none of that works, get a refund.

They are just recommended minimum requirements, usually to prevent lots of graphics lag. Some games require new fangled features such as hardware texture and lightning. If your card doesn't have that, you may simply be unable to play the game at all. Any of the nVidia 9000 series above 9400 (i.e. 9600 and higher). I have a 9400 M which is slightly worse than the normal 9400. It runs Assassin's Creed fine on average graphics settings. I recommend getting a 9600 or higher because it's a different, better type of card to the 900 to 9400 range.

The girl seemed to have liked the guy and was a semi-willing participant at first. It was pretty clearly statutory rape, though, and it doesn't help that he sedated her (which I guess would make it full-blown, non-statutory rape). These days she wants the case dimissed - she says he made a big mistake which she doubts he'd ever make again, and that she doesn't want the publicity and media attention. 13 is just too young, though. I mean, I know most teenagers first have sex at 13 and 14, but there's just far too much coercion involved in this case (between the age difference and drugging) to have much or any sympathy for this guy. Various countries have different age laws for sex. In Australia it is 16 years equals an adult, in most of Latin America, Western Europe, China, and Japan, it is 13 or 14, while in many states in America it is 18

Here's my theory: Obsidian, like most game companies, are **** at translating. -
If you know what I mean.

The sword loves the sheath.

A single successful MMO would make that back, with Bioware's brand power and EA's market strength. Granted, I have a hard time seeing them making that back on pay-once games. But profit isn't the only issue here, as alanschu points out.

Doesn't Nestle own about five hundred different brands now? They're like the AOL/TimeWarner of foods. Off the top of my head, Perrier (amid a few dozen other bottled waters), Ralston/Purina (including Alpo, Friskies), Nestle (naturally), Maggi, Taster's Choice, Cereal Partners Worldwide (a partnership with General Mills which includes putting out GM cereals outside of the US, like Cheerios, and manufacture in the US of some products, like H

Americans set to get standardised/universal healthcare

"Foods that are high in starches and sugars give us a rush for one minute then a lasting depression because of how fast they break down turn to sugar energy and then to fat if not used. " Nah. It's got nothing to do with depression in the DSM-V sense. And you're still sort of wrong in terms of hyper- and hypolgyceamia, although in large quantities they do often give a bit of a roller-coaster ride physically and mentally. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_glucose http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycemic_index Edit: certainly excess consumption of sugars should be avoided as they have a number of deleterious impacts in large quantities (like everything), such as diabetes. -
Yeah Nestle are ****wits. I avoid them when I remember to.

I totally agree with that! Realistic or not, I always envision Moscow with snow cover. I don't envision Moscow as a snow-covered, but then that's because I know that Siberia is like 7 time zones away and that Moscow gets summer heat waves that can kill the elderly.

Um, a) Rorie is just the PR monkey, and b) it's called a legally binding contract. -

I've pretty much lost all interest in Obsidian as a game company (same for Bioware). They're not Black Isle. I feel kind of sad to be saying that, but with Aliens dead, lots of mixed vibes about Alpha Protocol's direction (if it has one), and a Fallout game that looks like it'll simply mimic Bethesda instead of returning to Fallout's roots, I see little to get me excited. Meanwhile, NWN2 (haven't played MotB) and KOTOR2 were mediocre. *sigh* At least I've got Blizzard and Valve left. -
"Jerret Lee said on the Subject Zero thread: 'Yep, there are 10 potential squad mates to recruit from around the galaxy to take on your mission. The more you take, and the more loyal you make them, the better your odds of survival.'" Uhg. Annoying **** like that almost demands enjoyment-breaking metagaming. GOTTA CATCH THEM ALL.

How is it worse? She (?) is an alien. I just don't like when they take human beauty canons and build alien/fantastic chracters around them. That's just my opinion, though. Agreed. I don't mind beautiful alien girls, but there needs to be ugly ones, too. Ones that are more... alien. Ones that don't attract us because they simply aren't part of our species. Something less anthropomorphic and more believable.

There's Gimp which is an open source (free) alternative to Photoshop. It's as hard to use as photoshop, and if you know Photoshop there's no guarantee that'll help you know Gimp, but it's very powerful and heavily supported since it's what Hollywood and all *NIX distros use. http://www.gimp.org/ lol. You didn't even read the thread did you, Krezzie? I read the thread. Is there a problem with me repeating another person's recommendation? I should think the more voices the better.
