New Game Ideas
I'm surprised anybody even knows about Lexx. It was pretty damn obscure.

Can you smoke weed in this game?
Weed is annoyingly hard to get hold of at my new university.

The girl that never ages.
I've read a few studies which contradict this, not least of all because the definition of intelligence is extremely mercurial and subjective. Still, it is a nice theory for the upper classes to dismissively shake their heads about. "Mark my words, we're becoming an idiocracy!"

There is no free speech in Finland
What the ****. That's ****ing ridiculous.

Unit 731
What's wrong with that? What's wrong with maximising the good of multiple ideologies and minimising the bad? It's an equilibrium process - and because it's based on careful adjustments over time it's a lot more likely to be stable and successful. Why so cynical, n00b?

The girl that never ages.
Maybe nature is trying to do away with the normal human chromosome and something new is happening. Isn't that what evolution is about? Mutation and starting a new species... Most new species are evolutionary dead ends.

This is important to me too. I may not buy the game if you can't.

Unit 731
The entire basis of the capitalist system is that they don't make as much money as hours/effort put in. They make as little money as the arbitrary capitalist system figures it can give them, which has very little to do with actual effort. It's not arbitrary, and it is intimately tied to their effort and worth in the workplace, on a large scale. As long as you have strong labour laws and unions at least, like in Australia. Ultimately people in the capitalist system don't make the "free choice to work," since if they don't work, they will have no money, and cannot support themselves. Which is why you have universal healthcare and welfare for those who are unable to provide for themselves, so yes they do have the free choice to work or not. I'm no free market extremist. But heck, even if I was, it's not a terrible thing to require a person to earn at least their keep. Even Communism requires this.

Unit 731
People say, "force is required to implement communism." To that I ask, why? Why do you have to force people to work? They say, "well, because they won't work if they don't have to." But then you are left with the obvious question - why do they work in a capitalist society? Because they can, roughly, make as much money as hours/effort they put in, and because they enjoy the job. The first one can sometimes make up for lack of the last one, but either way they made a free choice to do that work. Clearly if they aren't making that free choice to work, then it's slavery.

Unit 731
Yeah, I'm the one with the "hurt sensibilities," not the one who compulsively posts "LoF is a troll!!! A TROLL I SAY!!!" as though it will accomplish anything more the twentieth time. It's just white noise, dude. My eyes literally glaze over it. Your eyes literally glaze over it so much you get angry and swear at me about it in a rant? Man, anybody would think LoF was your alt or something.

Unit 731
I don't know why you come into LoF's threads and **** them up with this all the time. It doesn't contribute anything, and it's really obnoxious. I make plenty of serious contributions to LoF's threads in response to the serious posters of this forum, but you need to pull the blindfold from over your eyes because LoF is quite clearly a troll mate. LoF's free to troll, and I'm free to call him out on his trolling. Now get over your hurt sensibilities.

Obsidian, switch engines!
Although Im all for cross-platform development, thats like saying "could you change my car into a helicopter?". (meaning you can do it, but youd have to throw away most of what you have and start over from scratch) Not really. Certainly not if you planned OpenGL support from the start. (Edit: which you acknowledge in a preceding post) If you rely on third-party packages and your engine is really just a wrapper for those than it might be a lot harder, but you've got other problems with your 'in-house' engine in that case.

Unit 731
Going with the Marxist/Leninist roots, communism requires armed revolution. While Marx believed that eventually the concept of state would disappear, Lenin's viewpoint was a bit nebulous Huh. I'm pretty sure Marx saw communism as an end-state for society which would come about by revolution, but a peaceful one. Lenin diverged, certainly.

Swearing in computer games
American swearing is so boring. British and Australian swearing and such is a lot better. But if you take a look at swearing in some of the European and Asian languages it can take up entire sentences for the equivalent of the F word and such, usually involving the Virgin Mary (Italy), or your mother (Russia), or your odour (Japan), etc.

Swearing in computer games
I prefer cultural swearing. E.g. smeg, goit. Stuff that took some thought.

That would appear to be your mother. I can confirm this.

Unit 731
The Japanese of today barely resemble their accursed empire from WW2.

Can we go around without holding guns.
Yeah. In other words: it was realistic. I think some people are used to FPS aiming where high energy particle scientists can pick up rocket launchers gauss guns and immediately know how to fire them 100% accuracy at small, fast moving headcrabs. The Deus Ex system is the best thing available when you want to introduce RPG stat elements into the game because it's still based on your skill. Bloodlines's system was atrocious (auto-aim, and your chance to hit randomly decided) - you could shoot point blank and still miss. ERrr, what Bloodlines game did you play? I had neither autoaim, nor was my chance to hit randomly decided as the crosshairs proved to work identically to Deus Ex's. Bloodlines forced a chance to miss. You could be right next to somebody and still sometimes shots would miss, depending on your guns skill. It was stupid. Bloodlines also helped aim (autoaim) by nudging the cross-hair closer to enemies when your crosshair was reasonably close to them. It was very annoying.

Unit 731
Doesn't surprise me. The Japanese Empire was extremely cruel.

What are you playing now?
I'm playing Heroes of Newerth at the moment. Not really anything else.
