  1. Don't be naive. Given our advances in technology and logistics, do you really think the killing of civilians are truly "accidents" and are really viewed as "collateral" damage by NATO forces? Yes, I do. Have you paid any attention to what is actually happening over in Afghanistan, Visceris? You talk about our advanced logistics, yet our main logistical supply line (75% of supplies) is one of the most dangerous roads in the entire world, freshly mined with IEDs and roadside bombs every day. Our predator drones? They require accurate intelligence to do their job. If our intelligence is wrong (and it will never be right 100% of the time), civilians are going to die. Because I know you don't know, go read up on the Khyber pass: http://theredhunter.com/2009/02/supply_lin...afghanistan.php http://www.csmonitor.com/World/terrorism-s...99s01-duts.html And I want to know just why you're so deluded as to think that NATO would deliberately bomb the people we're working to protect? Our aim isn't to own the country, it is to remove the Taliban. To do that we need civilian support. For each civilian we kill, that's just more support for the Taliban and less support to the Allies. What possible reason could NATO have for wanting civilian casualties, Visceris? The Taliban have no qualms about using civilians as human shields, and expand a great deal of their efforts trying to blur the line between civilian and militant. NATO has to then expend a great deal of effort trying to distinguish them, and they are not always right.
  2. It's not a matter of disagreement, it's a matter of logic. Your stance is that all war is the same. I just explained pretty clearly how that is wrong, and awsomeness just added a pretty succinct but poignant addendum to that. To clarify: All war is not the same, because some types have genocide and the butchering of civilians as their objectives.
  3. Oh, so because war already involves killing people, it doesn't matter who is killed or how they are killed? You're so thick. No it isn't you overly dramatic buffoon. The purposes of war are often varied - they can be (and this list isn't exhaustive) to maintain order and control back home (typical of authoritarian regimes, and the success or failure against the enemy is of nominal importance), to liberate another people from an oppressor (the complete obliteration or defeat of the enemy is not the goal, simply their retreat is), to gain territory (the goal is the territory and holding it, not eradicating your enemy), or to prevent a threatening opponent from expanding or oppressing (e.g. the Korean and Vietnam wars - the purposes of these wars wasn't to kill all communists, it was to install democracy and/or prevent communist rule). Terrorism, the type of war you are advocating (war against civilians to hurt your enemy), is extremely rarely employed by the world's civilisations and governments, and almost uniformly frowned upon.
  4. It is war, Krezy. "Terrorism" is a buzz word that has been given a strong, and justified, negative meaning. War is war. It doesn't change if you use buzz words. It doesn't change if you are in a uniform or not. It is war. In war you defeat your enemy or you will lose against your enemy. All is fair in war. If everyone thought like you, all that might be true, but as long as humanity remains civilised and humane (i.e. different to the terrorist scum in the Middle East) it won't be. I suppose you think "human rights" is a buzzword too?
  5. mkreku: PC, GMT +1, no DLCs Deadly Nightshade: PC, GMT -5, any DLCs? jaguars4ever: PC, GMT -8, any DLCs? Krezack: PC, GMT +10, no DLCs yet The person without the DLCs needs to host IIRC. I don't have any either. Might buy the latest one, though, certainly not touching Mad Moxxi with a 10 foot pole. I'm happy to play Borderlands with 3 other people or just 1 other person. It's fun either way. We have a pretty broad range of time-zones. I'm closest to jaguars, I believe. I'll be playing Siren or Brick. What are your Steam names, people? It's an easy way to see if you're online (assuming you use Steam). Mine is euclideanalgorithm.
  6. And here I was thinking Indonesia and Brazil were shining examples of how to use software in government CORRECTLY. ****ing lobby groups.
  7. I've bought KB and AP. I will be playing them when my new computer arrives.
  8. No. That's fecking stupid. We need expansion packs, not ****ty little DLC missions.
  9. YOU DON'T ****ING AIM FOR CIVILIANS TO HURT YOUR ENEMY. THAT'S CALLED TERRORISM.
  10. I had forgotten why you disgust me, but now I've remembered.
  11. You're of course talking about the millions dead and displaced under Saddam's regime, I take it.
  12. Examples? Australia's GST hasn't budged from 10% since its inception by the conservative government in 2000 or so. And IIRC, other countries with VAT-like taxes also have it at about 10%. I've never seen 15% or above. America needs higher taxes, but the problems with America's economy as so insipid I doubt that would be enough. A slow-motion train crash. Ok maybe that's a bit dramatic, but it's true for your dollar at least.
  13. I miss Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaave.
  14. I dunno, I was hoping for a steady, constant crew and reasonably consistent play hours. See how we go... Kotor: Xbox has internet access doesn't it?
  15. What kind of file system does it have? Fat32 unfortunately. Horrible file-system compared to something like ext3, but I guess at least all operating systems can read it. Edit: further research shows that the file systems used are: swap, ext3, and fat32. The SSD is partitioned into these three. SD cards will be a single fat32 partition by default.
  16. Yes. But again, that's a legal requirement in my country.
  17. Looks like I won't get to play Beyond Good and Evil 2. At least until they release it on Good Old Games in 10 years time.
  18. This is typically enforced by your federal consumer watchdog agency, it certainly is in Australia.
  19. http://www.destructoid.com/mad-as-hell-abo...is-164565.phtml Seems like the best way to boycott Ubisoft. It would actually hit them were it has potential to hurt.
  20. Yeah I just realised I'm a ****ing Aussie. Oh well, I'm also a vampire, so it'll work out. Actually usually with Americans and Canadians it's just a matter of getting home from school or work early enough to play with you guys before you hit the sack. Let's see... ATM it is 10:20pm here which is 3:20am in Cliforniway. And yeah, buy it. I bought it, then played it for 10 mins, thought it was crap, and ditched it, and then dug it up again and played it properly with a mate - really fun game, worth buying.
  21. I want some people to play Borderlands with for a few hours each day from lvl 1 onwards. I don't have Zombie Island but can get it if people deem it's worth it or the majority of people have it. My first character was Siren which was awesome and very powerful, but I want to play Brick now. I think. Hit me up!
  22. I found that one of the easiest puzzles in the game. Each to their own I guess.
