  1. There is a solution to Josh's dilemma in this thread that seems to work for Slavic and French languagues (maybe others as well): https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/95495-josh-sawyer-is-asking-frenchgeritaspaportpolishrussian-players-for-input-on-how-much-people-care-about-how-the-game-deals-with-ship-gendersyntax/?p=1967740
  2. It doesn't matter, if it's gargantuan and expensive then they should not attempt it at all, instead of pushing their work onto players and turning the game into some grammar game. And judging by the results it's indeed not really worth it. I suppose localization users will just have to endure it, as it happens most of the times. (Good thing I only play in English.)
  3. Same. Well, good to know if it's the same in Polish. A universal solution for Slavic languages.
  4. Lol, you don't ask a player to work on localization within the game, it's developers job. The only input I think players should be allowed to do is to write their own ship's name if they so desire, which makes my suggestion the only viable suggestion. Or choose from a range of predefined names.
  5. Yea, if they wanna do it grammatically correct it's gonna be a real pain in the ass to figure out how to change ship names' declensions depending on sentence. Dunno about Polish, but for Russian what they could do is to work only with one word and change it depending on sentences instead of changing all sorts of names - they could put a word 'Корабль' (Ship) or 'Cудно' (Vessel) before the ship's name, put ship's name in quotation marks and color the words with a different color for better readability. Ships' names can stay constant this way and would be grammatically correct. It's still a bit of a hassle, but much less so if there is only one word you need to work with. For example, in Russian: Ship "Defiant" fires its cannons at ship "Black Pearl". Корабль "Дерзкий" стреляет из пушек по кораблю "Черная Жемчюжина". Or: Судно "Дерзкий" стреляет из пушек по судну "Черная Жемчюжина". The crew of ship "Black Pearl" braces for impact as ship "Defiant" rams into the hull. Команда корабля "Черная Жемчюжина" готовится к столкновению с идущим на таран корпуса кораблем "Дерзкий". Or: Команда судна "Черная Жемчюжина" готовится к столкновению с идущим на таран корпуса судном "Дерзкий".
  6. If you're asking me then I've already made a post about it: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/91743-portraits/?p=1956411 P.S. I don't have much time for requests right now, maybe next week. But keep them coming!
  7. Well, I usually play in English anyway, but I can see how it can be a headache for Russian localization. Probably not worth the hassle to make it work for all those problematic localizations. I like the easy fix suggestion about quote marks the most.
  8. Tried my portrait with an official background texture: Can't say it makes a big difference compared to this, maybe a bit cleaner: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/91743-portraits/?p=1954168 But it also somehow looked blurrier until I put it into official small resolutions.
  9. Thanks for the official background texture! Too bad I'm not an artist to be able to draw portraits like in instructions.
  10. I don't have much time for portraits right now, but here are two from the above collection:
  11. Just makes to show how much people care about this stuff, if nobody was interested there would not be so many replies.
  12. I don't think any of the POE1's stronghold features will make a return in POE2. In POE2 you will have a mobile base this time - a ship, which you'll be able to upgrade and hire various crew members. And instead of adventures you will have sea encounters when you sail, some random, some not. Maybe there will be bounties, maybe not.
  13. That still doesn't prove they won't make a gay out of him, just because stereotypes. P.S. Also, I wonder whether companions will have race preferences for romances. Maybe some will only be available if you're of the same race? Which would be more realistic, though options limited, hmm...
  14. Well, from my experience with many betas, some things that are not easily tweakable are 99% gonna be in retail product. Those are usually big things involving graphics and animation - if they look like **** in the beta, don't expect any magical improvements on them in retail product, **** is what you gonna get. POE2 beta looks very good in that regard, so I'm not worried.
  15. Well, it's been confirmed that some will not be interested in a romance at all. Also, some will be interested in a romance with another companion, not sure how it will turn out if MC puts an eye on them though, sounds like Aerie and Haer'dalis triangle to me.
  16. Anybody ever wonder how Eothas, Rymrgand, Skaen, Wael and Woedica's godlike would look like? I think Eothas's godlike would look shiny, something like aasimar. Rymargand's all shades of frosty and white haired, maybe with ice in hair. Not sure about the other three though.
  17. It's a feature called Stroke in Photoshop. Also, you may wanna consult with this post: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/91743-portraits/?p=1956411
  18. Those godlike look like somebody did them specifically for POE, awesome work and props to that somebody!
  19. This should be Aloth. He is ALREADY half-woman Well, he's already popular and funny, so the chances are pretty high. You know what would be really cool about Aloth? If you made him keep Iselmyr in POE1 then he'd like males because she'll be dominant, but if you made him suppress her then he'd like females. Though I doubt devs thought of this and are just gonna put a cliche 'gay' label on him cuz he's an elf . Too bad.
  20. I wonder who's gonna be gay this time. Not gonna be surprised if it's the most popular and funny characters as always, just to screw straight players. Heh, as a straight male player romances often screw me because my mains are mostly female characters. That's also why I prefer female companions to not be straight, but bisexual. Am pretty sure am not alone in this. And here is my logic around sex selection: On a mildly related note: Whatever, you can justify it however you want. Personally, I have zero interest in any gay/same sex romances in games, but as they became more popular and numerous with each (BioWare) game, romances to me became such a disappointing feature to the point of indifference. Looks like since BG times BioWare writers can't for the life of them write a decent, not cheesy, straight romance and not feel ashamed of it. So I'm not holding my breath for POE2 relationships/romances, even though I voted strongly for their inclusion, because for all their faults they do liven up the game. Maybe they will be a breath of fresh air, maybe not. Not getting my hopes up though. P.S. Most screwy scenario in POE2 right now - all 3 POE1 veteran characters are gay, the rest are bi and Maia's bird companion is not interested in romances at all
  21. Those look solid, good job! I like that menacing dwarf with a "Better don't mess with me" look
  22. What I like about bald portraits is that they don't have hair
  23. I wonder who's gonna be gay this time. Not gonna be surprised if it's the most popular and funny characters as always, just to screw straight players.
