  1. I just did 12 chin-ups and 10 ledge pull-ups (PU's without using thumbs) as compounds just to test if my fitness has fully returned, they felt like the easiest exercise ever, my heart rate hardly increased and I didn't even sweat a single drop. Guess I'm ready to go. WOOT But just in case I get dizzy again I have put my exercise bench right behind me if I feel the sudden urge to sit/lay down quickly, I also moved the bar- and dumbbells away from the floor. Better save than sorry.
  2. The Thin Red Line. I do not belong to that crowd that loves WWII war movies but this was simply a beautiful not-your-average-WW2-movie film. The mix of a masterful Hans Zimmer score and extremely beautiful landscapes combined with an usual philosophic view onto the events that happened in the film made it very enjoyable to watch. The acting was also excellent, especially Nick Nolte as ruthless LT. Col. And the lack of major cheesiness usually found in US movies made it so much more watchable than films like saving Private Ryan, which was IMO a rather mediocre film compared to TRL.
  3. ^ Well, I see no alternative so thats what I'm going to do. I hope you are darn right!
  4. The problem with this idea is when performing lifts I always feel pretty damn exhausted, I wouldn't notice any difference until its too late. ..or until I'd pass out and die.
  5. Does anybody have good advice about how soon you can return to your normal exercise regime after having had the flu? I've been free of fever for three days now, I feel really energetic and there is no sign of an illness left, though I know three people who screwed up their lives because they didn't take their flu serious enough and strained their bodies prematurely. Two got bad heart infections that lasted for 6 months, the third person died in the hospital and none of them performed any physical tasks other than light office work, and I'm talking about lifting weights weighing 150kg+. A couple of sources say its save to return to your exercise regime if you've been free of fever for only 24+ hours, other sources say you should at least wait for 4-7 days. Sure, I could play it reeeally safe and wait weeks, the problem is I get dangerously depressed without my workout so the sooner I can return pumping iron the better. I really can't remember when I returned to weight lifting the last time I had the flu, that was 8 years ago if I remember correctly.
  6. Thinking of going to the shooting range tomorrow, not sure if I'm already fit enough for it though, I sure as hell don't want to collapse onto my loaded rifle.
  7. Ah, the good old days where a single bullet could solve most political problems. Nowadays you'd have to carpet bomb countless government buildings with fire bombs to achieve a change. The evil has dramatically increased its numbers.....
  8. A shame the proportions are off, otherwise I would have really liked this pic...
  9. Sad to hear that, in my opinion well-designed romances add a lot to the overall gaming experience. And if you don't like them, no big deal, simply skip them. Oh well...
  10. Ah, the Brits... By the way, whats wrong with this pic? The teacup-holder is missing.
  11. Thanks. That was an ugly reminder of how fragile human bodies are, very little interferences in that system can lead to a sudden breakdown. I didn't eat much because of severe stomach cramps and I spent the majority of the day sleeping, I really didn't drink enough water - and I'm a big guy. Got three electrolyte transfusions and now I'm good again. Gonna have to force myself to eat and drink though.-
  12. Today I got a free and FAST ride with the ambulance and got free bed & breakfast at the intensive care station in the hospital. The bad news is my face and neck looks like I lost in a ghetto knife fight. Today early in the morning my mother visited me because I'm sick, we had a conversation when she suddenly screamed at me. My first thought was ''WTF, why is she screaming at me all of a sudden?....and why the hell am I laying on the floor and bleeding from my nose? Turns out I just collapsed in the middle of the conversation and I did not remember it, she said I collapsed like a fell tree, hit the desk with my head and was laying on the ground staring at the ceiling not responding for 5 minutes. She even slapped me in the face and I was not responding. Total brain switch off. The same thing happened again when the rescue crew arrived, I just passed out for 4-5 minutes and I did not notice it. My blood pressure dropped down to 37 and they panicked and hastily readied adrenaline injections when I woke up again. At the hospital they said it was caused by a bad combination of dehydration, lack of nutrients in my blood and the stomach flu. Doc said my heart is super fine, just like the rest of my body. I'm just glad its not neurological and I didn't knock my teeth out. I released myself though, they wanted to keep me for a couple of days but the boredom was driving me insane. Stomach flu sucks on so many levels.
  13. Imagine the huge impact hallucinations have on religious people that had near-death experiences and saw some weird things due to their head injuries. There was this deeply religious female Austrian competition skier who had a pretty bad accident and fell into a coma, she saw all kinds of ''floating beings made of light'' and her dead relatives. People see what they want to see in such situations, and that always strengthens their beliefs. if you're not religious though you can sit back and enjoy some awesomely weird hallucinations. +edit* Oh man, this doesn't help my fever dreams at all: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Mordake
  14. This is the stage where most people get stupid ideas that send them reeling back into mortally ill - keep still for at least a day more so your body has a chance to recover. And thats exactly what happened, I felt good enough to leave the bed, walk a round and do some moderately exhausting stuff for a couple of hours. Now I have 39+ Celsius fever and I'm getting weird fever dreams. At one point I was half-awake I think and I was thinking that my body was a huge 600-ton mining excavator. Probably because I was watching some documentary about coal mining on discovery channel yesterday.....
  15. My immune system kicks some serious butt, I feel much better already, headache, pain and fever is gone. Only half an our ago I felt like being mortally ill.
  16. For a year? Plenty of fish in the sea....
