My phone can only record approx half an hour till it runs out out of power, and I've seen animals being startled from the ultra-high frequency sounds from phones. And what if the animal is nocturnal? I have a better idea, I'll put really fine sand at the ''door step'' so the animal leaves footprints when it enters and leaves its home.

I have tons of wild mice in my garden but they usually hide and sleep in small dug holes in the ground, I've never seen them build anything with twigs. I doubt mice have the skills to build themselves such an elaborate home.

A question that might be easy to answer for someone who has a basic understanding of physics, I still don't get it though. Weight of water and pressure. How can fish and other animals living on the bottom of the ocean still move very easily even though there is kilometers of water above them? With the weight of water above them and the insane pressure, wouldn't it be like trying to swim through liquid concrete?

The hedgehogs I saw in my garden were as big as that entire thing and there are more than enough hiding spots for them that they don't need to build anything. They wouldn't fit through that small entrance anyway. Its also extremely well built, its sturdy as a birds nest and the grass + twigs were skillfully woven into a perfectly round dome. Mice maybe? But AFAIK they live in underground burrows.

I still can't take movies seriously or enjoy them where the military uses completely illogical tactics against giant animals that stomp cities to ash just to make them appear dangerous. I mean, has any of the directors of such movies ever heard of guided nuclear bunker busters? Drop one onto the forehead of that giant toad and its toast before anyone has to skip lunch. Here you go.

When walking around in my garden I found a strange pile of grass and twigs in the undergrowth. It looks like an animal is living in there though I have no clue what it might be. Its roughly half the size of a basketball, with an entrance measuring 3 centimeters in diameter. Couldn't find feces nor food leftovers that would give a clue about the species. I touched it and it seems to be remarkably sturdily built and perfectly round in shape. Anybody know what animal lives in there? (entrance at 6 o' clock)

I'm no professional but I think without having any nutrients from previous meals in your blood the body would burn the entire sugar depot in the liver along with body fat. What I'm sure of is that any exercise without having eaten anything is hell. Once I went mountain cycling for 4 hours (summer, 100F / 38 Celsius) without any food in my system and I can't tell you how trashed I felt. I had stomach cramps, followed by extreme nausea (close to puking), fatigue attacks, headache, cold sweat, dizziness, I couldn't feel my legs.... It took my body more than one hour to adjust to the cycling, then I felt better. Why anyone would do this on purpose is beyond me....unless its very light cardio like walking. Another shocking thing is how fast that guy lost all his muscle mass and turned into a flabby average-joe. Within 6 weeks! Must have been the high level of estrogen paired with the sudden lack of steroids.

Is it just the mods or the installation, cause if it is the latter then DIY. Its mainly the components, I can install them myself no problem. Except barrel cutting and re-crowning, my hacksaw skills are pathetic and I hate messing around with barrels.

I found out that eating lots of cheese and drinking an apple-pear smoothie leads to an unpleasant stomach condition. Oh, and I started to safe money for a couple of modification for a rifle I own. Its pretty funny when you realize that the modifications you want to make cost 3 times as much as the rifle itself. Everything has gotten so expensive....

@ 213374U Thanks for your advice! I'm not sure if he calculated his calorie intake correctly, all I know is he eats a lot whenever we meet, he totally beats me in every single meal in terms of eating speed and amount of food consumed. And he eats constantly, even after having had a big meal. GOMAD sounds like an interesting and exceptionally easy 'diet', I'll tell him that he needs to get tested for lactose intolerance before we start off with the exercise and diet. About the ''supplement'' thing: I'd never take roids, drugs don't even tempt me. First and foremost I exercise to stay healthy and to keep my natural testosterone high, I also like to have as much ''functional''natural strength as possible. Thats what exercise really is meant for. I think I would not enjoy gains I got with unhealthy cheating. What also helps is that I'm not competing with other people, I don't feel any pressure if someone I know is stronger than me and can lift more or looks better.

Did a nightly garden patrol with my cat (its 1 am). My cat is almost 21 years old and not that fit anymore so I play the role of the bodyguard that protects him from getting his feline butt kicked by gangs of younger cats or more dangerous foxes. He doesn't mind as long as I keep really quiet and not use my flashlight - which is challenging at times when there is no moon or stars. It really sharpens my senses, especially my sense of hearing. Its pretty funny, after he marked his territory and swept out intruders from the garden perimeter I can totally tell that he feels like a proud manly man again. After the patrol he is happy again, eats a meal and falls into a really deep sleep. And I feel happy too, I love nightly walks and its a good thing to know that my garden area is secure from malevolent denizens of the dark. Then I'm an old geezer too. Overly comfortable chairs totally knock me out every single time.

Currently introducing a friend to weight lifting / strength exercises, he is no longer happy with his extremely lean physique and wants to build some muscle with my help (creating a exercise schedule, telling him all the basics and taking care of proper form during the lifts) Sounds pretty straight forward, but there there is kind of an odd problem, he eats more / bigger meals than I and he weighs around 68 kilograms at 184cm, and no, he does not do any sports or other exhausting activities. He eats a lot. What he does with the calories - I don't know. He told me he calculated his calorie intake and he eats 1500 kilo joules more than his body actually requires according to the calculators he used, and there is not a single gram of fat on him. According to the docs he does not suffer from any illnesses and his diet is decent. I don't really believe in ''hardgainers'' but this case might make me reconsider. We also did a short mountain climbing trip about a year ago and we forgot to bring food, after a day of climbing I got a little bit hungry but he was close to collapsing, I thought he wouldn't make it back to the car. If the exercise doesn't drastically change his metabolism very quickly he will never be able to gain any weight let alone build muscles and the exercises will really trash him for days. Any advice to improve his metabolism? I can teach him everything there is to know about the exercises but I've never had troubles with my metabolism so... I don't know. .*shrugs*.

I just finished Far Cry 3 : Blood Dragon. What a marvelous game, enjoyed the hell out of it from beginning to end. You know a game is good when you hear a robot voice saying: I AM THE BATTLE ARMORED DRAGON ASSAULT STRIKE SYSTEM. YOUR KILLSTAR CONTROLS MY BRAINCAGE INSTRUCTING ME THAT YOU ARE MY RIDER.

Like 213374U said probably not much bigger, my diet is pretty good and I think I've got that natural protein intake covered, but there is certainly room for improvement. (Isn't there always?) Oh, and one more thing about protein supplements, its pretty impossible to get too much protein through your diet but its very possible with supplements. According to a doc I talked to too much protein over a long period of time (years) can trash your kidneys. I don't know if thats true but too much anything is bad and will lead to problems I guess. So if you take such supplement be careful and don't shovel that stuff into your mouth...

That was in the 1870's. You know what metallurgy was like back then? Lets call it very vague. You simply have to use properly hardened steel. Make a shield out of it and small parts strapped to your body to protect your vitals. It does work, ballistic armor is made of properly hardened steel plates and composite material to stop fragmentation. (You can do that with compressed layers of clothing)

A good hamstring exercise is barbell-lunges, I'd definitely give them a try because - besides thighs and hamstrings- they also work all the auxiliary muscles of the lower body and legs. More than any other exercise I know. You get the whole package with a single exercise. Anyway, about three weeks ago I started doing pull ups with a rope, even though its mainly a back exercise I also noticed serious upper and lower arm gains in strength and looks. Highly recommendable exercise, just don't do them when you plan to do heavy dead lifts anytime soon, your fingers will be tired. Awesome arm workout.

All you need for makeshift armor is to go to a random earth moving construction site plus a torch and you can literally make hundreds of crude but very effective body armor plates and shields in no time at all. Sounds hell of a lot easier and much safer than going to a police station and engaging armed policemen to steal their weapons.

I have a similar problem but with airport security.
