  1. I just have a few questions for those who concentrated on influencing different cast members. 1. ATTON- Why did he leave the Sith and does he reveal his real name? 2. MIRA- Do they ever reveal who her true father is? 3. Disciple- Does he ever say why he looks familiar and tell his real name?
  2. Use Atton Rand... I had him use the stealth to go forward and put mines around all of our enemies and then when they charged towards us they all blew up. The rest of my guys barely had to lift a finger. Atton is the best character, I like him more than the Exile
  3. Another thing Iv'e discovered is that it doesn't seem to ahve the re-playabilityu with me that the original did. I re-played the original forever until I got tired of it. I'm doing my darkside run with Sith Lords and having to force myself to do it because I know no matter what it ends in a ****ty way. Maybe I'm being too hard on it, but its just not as good as the first amd I expected it to be way better.
  4. Uhmmm.. you do know that you don't have to fight the sabers, right? I ignored them and hacked Kreia to pieces.
  5. Boiler was 100% dead-on and the never explained plot points gave me that Matrix feel where you're going "they never answered any of the questions they presented to us?" I think the strength of KOTOR and what mad eit the game of the year was the re-playability of it and after I beat it the first time I immediately started a new game. With the Sith Lords I've had to literally sit and force myself to play through a second time(my darkside run) because the ending of the game is so amazingly un-rewarding. The more I've thought about the ending of Sith Lords the lower my opinion of the game has gone. Its a good game, but considering it was following the original I expected so much more and its just not there.
  6. The book is also wrong. I got force enlightenment as a watchman and that power allows you to cast your speed, force armor and valor feats at once for a reduced cost. Its a time saver power.
  7. In the New Jedi Order books that happened to Jacen Solo and he became stronger.. so I guess it makes sense.
  8. Kreia explains why the force sensitive party memmbers were drawn to you at the game's end and their place in restoring the jedi order.
  9. First of all the first game was too easy, and the sequel is WAY easier than the original. Its painfully easy. I never even had the slight risk of losing a battle and I don't think I'm some super-human player. Its just too frickin' easy. I enjoyed the game, though after finishing it I'd say it isn't quite the smash the first one was. The problem with it was the same problem a lot of people had with the Matrix sequels. The first half(Matrix 2) was great and hinted at a larger mystery and a ton of revelations down the line. Then the 3rd part(Matrix 3) proceeds to answer none of those questions and replaces it with a non-styop battle sequence and when that sequence is done, the movie is over and you're scratching your head wondering why it has so many plot points left hanging. The dialogue thing REALLY irks you by the time you're towards the end of the game and was tempting me to stop playing by sheer annyance factor. Another problem is that this game is perhaps the arch-enemy of power gamers. It just has no rhyme or reason at times. Instead of having the benefit of the shops that you could visit, etc. you get random events like fighting at the end alone and having random items like Dominator gloves, GMC belts, and cool un-seen items pop out of b-class Sith and by that time you're not caring. Another example is how you never find a silver crystal until you're alone in Kreia's lair. By the time I got all the pieces for HK I'm on the last leg and he NEVER got used. So the final break down is that whereas Sith Lords is a huge improvement in aspects of item and weapon designing, force powers, fighting styles, clothing and other things we all were begging for on the bioware forums.. it also takes a big step back on aspects that the original did good on. Ie Having an overall plan, placing items where you can get them and USE them for a bit, giving the characters a past and most importantly dialogue. I enjoyed the game a lot, but it makes no sense to give Mira, Atton Rand, the Handmaiden, the Droids and Bao all sub-plots if you have zero intention of ever resolving them. If the original was an A+ on my scale, the sequel is probably a strong B, (oh and WTF was with the ending?.. I know we all begged to lose the cheesy ceremony, but damn) The designers should have just waited until February rather than releasing an incomplete X-Box version.
  10. Well that's the weird thing. Kreia pointed out that Revan's true power was that he had an ability to influence othrs through the force to make them follow him. The Exile also has this ability and by being the first jedi ever to choose to cut himself off from the force his power has grown and changed by that. Every time he kills someone or the such his power is fed (cool explanation on why you get stronger through the game) and Kreia hoped he would be just like Revan, but she admits at the end that the exile is different. But she does say that the Exile should go and follow Revan, so I assume Revan is still atronger. And no, you see Carth's fleet arrive but no big fleet battle. this is all from light side BTW, I'm starting a darkside game today and also changing my initial response so that Revan was evil in the first game.
  11. Whew, I just finished,... This is as light side with Revan being lightside in KOTOR-1 Bastilla is still alive and she and Carth want to know if you have any idea where Revan is. Revan left them because he slowly got his memory and became to realize he still had a war to wage. Revan was basically building both the Sith and Jedi to be able to face the true Sith Empire who live in the outer regions and is waiting to destroy the Republic. Revan has gone to fight the war alone. Mandalore is in fact Canderous, Kreia says he is still loyal to Revan. Most of the character are force sensitive, Kreia mentions them as the new foundation of the jedi. Altris isn't Traya. To make a long story short Kreia sats that Traya (sith lord of betrayal) has to always exist and basically makes Altris realize she has replaced Kreia as Traya. Had a strange side plot with the droids towards the end that they never cut back to (It'll be in the PC version as well as soem cut scenes they seemed to skip over, I'll assume) Kreia tells you the future. The Exile leaves to join Revan in his war. And is seen as the leader of sorts for the new Jedi Order. Brianna the Handmaiden stays behind as the council's historian. Like Viper mentioned they never go into the backstory of the side characters and we never get a reveal on who Brianna's mother was. Canderous has many battles left. Mira wasn't born to be a huntress despite who her true father was (Yeah, they don't reveal who he is either) qand lives a long life and dies saving others. Atton will be fine (Kreia goes into no details) and his true name is never revealed, nor is his force abilities. Visas returns to her homeworld and Kreia can't see Visas' future. WRAP-UP: First of all the first game was too easy, and the sequel is WAY easier than the original. Its painfully easy. 12. Okay, I went through all the initial planets now and I'm speeding along. Don't follow if you don't want spoilers. I should finish the game today.... (man, I'm obsessed) . . . . . . . . . For those who asked, Mira was a Mandalorian orphan. and its good to have Canderous back with me. Kreia was a sith lord who was killed by her student Sion. She says that Revan was her student and after he left the Jedi he became her student again and that Malak and Revan didn't learn the secret from the sith from a sith empire and hints that she was the one who taught him. She also hints at Altris being a sith by saying that Altris is going down the same path she went down. The mission where you split your team in half makes it feel more realistic. I sent Atton, Mandalore and Mira to the Sith tomb on Dxun to kick ass without any jedi's. You also find out that the mysterious Atton is force sensitive when the sith try to seduce him. I am not sure if that was only because I picked him as my main character or not. Kreia really stands out as a great character. Her shades of gray outlook is what the starwars universe has needed for a long time (if you follow the new jedi order books its worked great there). Her justification of Revan becoming a "Sith" to sacrifice himself so that the universe wouldn't suffer a worse enemy than himself makes you really think. COMPLAINTS: Now that the new car smell has faded I've begun to notice things that aren't right. ~ On Nar Shadda, even when you have Mira with you , you still have Mira standing by the spaceport. Same thing with the Wookie. ~ The dialogue.... I have no idea why but the way the designers did the dialogue in this game is such a huge step back from KOTOR. It alone is starting to make me think KOTOR is the better game. In KOTOR you have a convo with a character, you resolve the issue and it goes away. With KOTOR2, I've been literally having the exact same convo options pop up with Visas, Handmaiden and Kreia the entire freaking game and its the most annoying thing ever. Who beta tested this game and was so caught up in the improved action that they didn't make a stink over how painful the dialogue options are?
  13. Yeah, you run into Atris fairly early on when you're on the surface of Telos. KOTOR 2 is a big improvement over the original, and I thought the original was the best game I've played.
  14. Okay, I'm now at the 24 hour mark and have some new things for you guys. Spoilers and Random opinions . . .. . . . . . . The reason the Handmaiden can use the force and her sisters ca not is because she is the daughter of a legendary Echani swordsman (you'll recognize Yusani's name from the first game. and a female jedi who was expelled when the council found out that she gave birth and thus she joined the war with Revans bunch. I wouldn't necesarily say Bastilla is dead because the whole point was that you were seeing illusions. You see your current friends and they're not yet dead. Atton Rand has surprised me because he's so much more than a Carth.. really deep character and a huge improvement. Goto is the crimelord, G0-T0 is the robot who he journeys with you through (remote control). Keeping with the theme of no one being necesarily good or evil he's another interesting companion. The mandalorian girl is entertaining. I couldn't help but laugh as she gave the other girls advice on how to seduce the exile. Every character is a lot deeper and has different motive than you'd guess. You also have a few spots where you'll adventure as the supporting guys off on their own and it all helps to make it seem like a StarWars ensemble. Kreia was Revans first and last teacher, but there were others in-between. Best sequence wasn't "Revan"'s appearance but when you saw how Kreia was killed by the other 2 Sith Lords. There is a reason she is in the morgue when you meet her and you'll notice that her body doesn't seem to be her own. Its been great to re-visit Dantooine and Korriban and it kind of makes you more comfortable with the game. Before I hit those planets I felt as if it was this huge mess of a mission that I'd never piece together. Its amazing how much better the robes and the system of updating your armor, weapons, etc is on this one. I didn't think Obsidian could equal the first but I was dead wrong. Has anyone swayed a comrade one way or the other significantly? If I have then I haven't noticed it. Wild Speculations: I'm guessing that Krea took over the body of the Handmaidens mother.. it just seems to fit and she really objects to the Exile having The Maiden as his apprentice.) Has anyone playing noticed that other Jedi's besides Visas can sense the force in your character? I'm getting the feel that he's not as re-connected to the force as he thinks. Who is Atton Rand really? He never does say his real name.
  15. How far along are you Wraith? Because I'm just finishing Korriban(I did Dantooine before it) and it Kreia has pretty much all but openly said that the council blamed her for Revan because of her training him. (Its also strongly hinted about another party member being Kreia's daughter)
  16. A council member kept your lightsaber, so you have to build another one. It's nice to re-visit the crystal cave on Dantooine and you get a great gift there.
  17. Both can be together and they don't seem to get along until they have a conversation where they both pretty much reveal that they're both intersted in the main guy if you use a male. I also don't see why people don't seem to like Kreia, she's showing what manipulative is supposed to be. Plus I like the nice tie-in with her manipulating you to try to be the equal of her first padawan (its pretty obvious before they reveal who he was).. I also like that she also seems to be the mother of another party member.
  18. You don't use it on Korriban and you barely use it on Dantooine, its pretty much a wasted power compared to its use in the first one from what I can tell of the games early going.
  19. I'm at about 17 hours in. I left Telos and headed to Dantooine and then Korriban and am about to head to another planet now. Mild spoiler, before you go to Korriban you may want to either be very light or very dark because it is the only way you can enter a secret tomb there. Overall I think this is a pretty good improvement over the first game and has so many options that it'll take forever for all of us to put our heads together and figure out the best builds, wepons, armor etc... I also think the story is alot better this time.
  20. You have to actually go through with most of the steps of defending the outpost. 1. Re-activate the droids 2. Reprogram the turrets. 3. Lay down all your mines in the minefield 4. Actually go around and recruit people to defend the outpost. 5. Give a good speach to motivate the troops and if you do all that you'll easily out-number the mercenaries and barely have to lift a finger to stop them. Vrook even teaches you a new lightsaber form for your trouble.
  21. Ulic snapped out of it when he realized what he'd done. He had originally gone towards the darkside as a sort of undercover agent and was seduced by it because he arrogantly thought he was beyond temptation. In the Star Wars comics you have a similar situation taking place now where Quinlan Vos who is the foremost agent of the Jedi Shadows(imagine a secret wing of the jedis who do all the Republics spying) joined Dooku to spy on him, but has slowly fallen into darkness and blindly sees it as his maintaining his cover. But back on track... The Vong were a bit too demonic in appearance, but their entire culture was based on pain, sacrifice and mutilation to become closer to their Gods. I think you'll be surprised by how well its defined by some fo the writers of the series. The New Jedi Order has also re-defined (Saved Lucas's ass) with the whole "bringing balance to the force" issue. It has become more clear in the NJO books that perhaps the prophecy wasn't necesarily about Anakin or Luke as much as it was about Anakin's offspring bringing balance. Jacen Solo has sort of taken the lead as the Jedi Consular type who is redefining what the force is and realizing and learning things that no Jedi before him has learned. In NJO they've started to show that the teachings of the Jedi were a bit naive as the force is neither light nor dark. It'd take forever to explain and is off-topic but you can find some good summaries of the series online and the entire 20 book set is well worth buying. I'd never picked up a SW's book before I grabbed the series and really fell in love with it. Second side note? Did anyone catch that Lucas stated last week that SW's after the prequels would become a TV property with his finding someone else to helm it? Sorry for rambling, but I'm a big NJO-phile
  22. I just read and do you recall where you gathered the info about the rule changes because of Exar Kun? I don't think I've come across that and would love to read it (I'm a big fan of the KOTOR stories) I'd also say that the ruling would make no sense to me (But very little of the Jedi's rules make sense) because in a weird way it was alove and attachments that stopped Exar Kun. Ulic's love for his brother and Nomi standing out in my head. One day I'll type up my entire rant on how the Jedi were wiped out because of Yoda.... (It's really Lucas's inability to make Palpatine look manipulative without Yoda looking stupid, but that wouldn't make a good in character explanation) I don't know if you're an EU fan, but I like the fact that the New Jedi Order is shaping up more along the lines of the KOTOR era and not following the harsh guidelines from the pre empire days is great to me.
  23. My question would be "What made the Jedi change?" It seems that the Jedi in KOTOR seem to be too more like the Jedi of the prequel era than the stories of the time of Exar Kun and Nomi Sunrider. In the old KOTOR comics it was common place for jedi to be maried and to train their children in the use of the force. Or if they were preoccupied to have another jedi master train their child. Examples would be the Qel-Droma clan, Nomi Sunrider as the wife of a jedi, and the Diath's who served the republic for over 4,000 years with their final member not dying until the clone wars. So when Bastila mentioned that love was not allowed and that children were taken away fromt heir parents I looked at it as her making excuses instead of common practice. On a different note, the robes in KOTOR were horrible and I hated that all the jedi robes lookeda like and only differeed in color. If you look at a lot of the EU you'll see that not all jedi wore robes, and most didn't during the days of Exar Kun... So I'd like to see some explanation on why the order suddenly got more strict after the original Sith War.
