  1. This should give you a hint of what I hear (starts approx at 0:22) But with much less intensity ofc
  2. It's not the actress, Imoen is just one amongst many. To me it feels like if BG1 lines were recorded with a professional mic, and the BG2 lines were recorded with a really cheap one. So either I have super audio perceiving powers, or I'm going slightly mad
  3. These excerpts are the exact same thing I hear in my game(s). I hear a huge difference between BG1 and BG2, of which the latter is the worse one. The issue I have is best heard with this line: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/lloj2bonatpsv7o/_IMOEN04_.WAV (it is a less clear sound than in BG1)
  4. Thanks, mate. I'll try to make a comparison later, at home.
  5. Yes, actual VO sound quality in BG2 is worse than in BG1. I mean all the original lines (Imoen, Jaheira, etc.), not ones from the Enhanced Edition. It's like 128kbps in BG1 compared to, I dunno, 48kbps in BG2.
  6. As far as I know: MCU doesn't like working on fantasy settings all that much Although both characters that he wrote for PoE are in the game (Durance and Grieving Mother), they posses only parts from their original concepts due to cuts from Obsidian
  7. Statement: I'm a long-time fan of BG, IwD, and so on. Because of very decent Polish localizations I'm quite used to playing this games in my language (both text and VO). Recently I decided to get the whole package of Enhanced Editions from Beamdog, because I was really eager to try out this Siege of Dragonspear thing and considered playing in original English for fun... and science! Query: This bugs me a bit. English VO in BG1 is great, but the quality of sound in BG2 is worse. Whas that always the issue?
  8. Considering we already know the ship is our base, and you start with the ship, I don't see this happening. Though I suspect getting to the first main city will be much faster than it was in Eternity 1. I could see the party hitting port at that city after the prologue, perhaps with an Irenicus Lair size path of content before. It certainly would make sense to head straight to that city from Dyrwood and recruit some party members and crew in terms of pacing and narrative. I wouldn't be surprised if the prologue was set in the Dyrwood, you know, Thus The Journey Begins Chapter. And then you end up in Neketaka.
  9. Viconia is life. This thread is now officialy the "various BG stuff thread"
  10. It depends on how well it is done) For example I much prefer Warcraft3 and Witcher series in Russian language over original. I guess, after all original Witcher is in Polish
  11. Only if the voice-over is bad. If it's good it gives an extra dimention to the dialogue. It adds acting. It's not just voice. This. Many voices (even some of the bad ones) in the Infinity Engine games are considered a cult classic. Both English and Polish versions have fans where I come from. EDIT: Back in the day many Polish online message boards had threads about favourite spoken lines of dialogue and catch-phrases from Baldur's Gate series. Ah, good times.
  12. Damn right! I bought this Chess 4 PC the other day and I can't move my pieces the way I want! [ragequit]
  13. Just a friendly reminder. Coupons expire in 3 weeks from now, that is May 31st. Cheers!
  14. Ditto, plus I also consider the BG1 plot to be more interesting.
  15. Quite. But the most silly thing was about the *mute* companion that had his lines vo'd
  16. I'm a fan of voice-over. I'd like it if the game was 100% voiced. I don't like partial voice-over like Pilars 1 did. It's annoying and distracting. If I'm to choose between partial voice-over or no voice-over I'd go for the latter. I hope "more" voice-over though is more like full voice-over. Like all main character/quest conversations are voiced and only side-stuff left un-voiced. I'm quite OK with partial VO. Listening to the same few voices in e.g. Skyrim is getting on me nerves But such a 3D sandbox *needs* full voice-overs more than an isometric game. So imho: partial VO in Pillars - OK full VO in Skyrim - OK full VO in Original Sin Enhanced Edition - NOT OK
  17. Ganrich is updating his OP. As you can see his last edit was on April 26th, which is fairly new.
  18. I think this is plausible. Said companion is much more vorbose in the subsequent expansion.
  19. What if one of the companions gets kidnapped and players must go rescue them. Then while on their journey, another party member is unmasked to be a traitor and surprise attacks the party! Upon their death it is revealed that an evil cipher placed them under a permanent Whisper of Treason spell, but now you have an extra party slot for the soon-to-be-rescued member. Naaaah, such a flimsy idea will never sell
  20. How on Earth did you come up with this idea? Fulvano islands will be available for everyone, just as the Endless Paths of Od Nua from the first PoE (And yes, the first island with Balefire Beacon is home to captain Furrante of the Principi sen Patrena). AFAIK the only backer related content might be an item or two for those who supported the game development via Fig or PayPal during the campaign. The same story was with the first PoE: there was a ring called Gaun's Pledge, a cape of the Obsidian Order, and the little Space Pig animal companion.
  21. As if you were talking about me. Easy, simple, excellent
