  1. I think I might have solved an issue at work that's been hounding me for the better part of two weeks now. It still depends on an external factor (meh, the customer) and might fail due to that, but it is a simple and elegant solution, and the alternative is to call off the entire project. I'm cautiously optimistic that neither side wants that.
  2. I'm just hoping that As for the reviving the hosts, well, that's probably still possible just not feasible right now, what with the chaos and all, and DELOS sure has no interest in reviving them. All they really care about is their little side project.
  3. A bag of chips and a chili-cheese burger if you'd be so kind.
  4. Nah, the thing you can play at the moment is essentialy a tech demo version of the multiplayer part - assuming you have a lot of horsepower under your desk. Not that long ago an update made the game almost unplayable even on very high end computers. Oh, huh. Thanks for the clarification. Quite an anomaly of a game. Well since you said you're not following the game, here's the real kicker. Chris Roberts managed to raise a crowdfunded total sum of roughly 180 million dollars for the game so far and there's no end in sight in terms of money coming in. I'm pretty sure that the Jehova's Witnesses are currently working on a space sim.

  6. Ah, should have elaborated. Nah, I'm not sarcastic, just a little bitter, is all. I know it's partially playable. It's been partially playable for longer than most other games need to be released, the likes of Duke Nukem Forever aside. I just don't think it will ever progress much beyond partially playable for the MMOish part. It might, maybe, but I'm not too optimistic.
  7. I'm fairly certain they will manage to release Squadron 42 in a playable* state at some point. Everything else, i.e. the persistent multiplayer galaxy where you're supposed to take off on a planet, fly around in the atmosphere, go to space, have space simmish arcade combat and then board a station to play some FPS section, well, no. That's never coming out as planned. I'd love to be wrong but it really looks like Chris Roberts has bitten off way more than he can chew. And eh, he can't come clean either. He'd be tarred, feathered, drawn and quartered after he was hanged. *Doesn't necessarily mean good.
  8. Not that it really matters that much but the post you quoted contains a healthy dose of sarcasm. Marceror has a long standing feature request that got ignored so far. In all fairness to the mods and administrators changing a display name is probably a lot easier to do than implement or change actual board features. I mean we've been living with this travesty of a quote function and WYSIWYG editor for a very, very long time now and I reckon if anything were to change THAT wold be the priority. Not a message telling everyone that you fixed your post. *shrug*
  9. Started watching The X-Files Season 11. The first two episodes had more action scenes and shots fired than the entire run of the show so far. Not digging that so much.
  10. My father had a similar issue once with his Windows 10 after an update. Windows "forgot" to load up the command shell. When you're on the black screen with only the cusor try hitting CTRL + ALT + DELETE and see if that works. If so start the Task Manager and use "run new task" from the file menu. Enter "explorer", press return.
  11. Immunities were introduced to PoE with White March after whining on the forum. Like a lot of other things. All in the name of balance in a single player game.
  12. Did you turn off level scaling or set it to only scale upwards? Because enemy placement can be really weird without full scaling. I turned it off and got waylaid by pirates way above my level right out of the tutorial - and right next to the first place you go right after getting the your ship fixed, so it was definitely not the case of being someplace I wasn't supposed to go.
  13. I'm impressed she sat through The Motion Picture without any real investment in the show.
  14. I really enjoyed both Firefly and Serenity, but Serenity had that TV-show-goes-movie issue of feeling like an extended episode. Star Trek: The Motion Picture and both X-Files movies had the same problem. They would have been fine as an hour of TV but not so much as a feature film - to say nothing of being feature film length. DTV versions often aren't better, like SG1: The Ark of Truth or SG1: Continuum.
  15. There's a reason these didn't do well, and it wasn't the genre.
  16. Feels like I yesterday when I stumbled upon his WoW stuff. Didn't care much for the rest he did but RIP, way too early.
  17. This was on TV when I was little. Uhm, careful, might be NSFW, hence the spoiler.
  18. Definitely. The action scenes might have had some tension. The one you see in the trailer where Chewie is heading towards a rock outcropping on a train? Guess what. He makes it.
  19. I like his letter to Kim Jong Un. It reminded me of the letters we had as homework in first grade, just in a different language.
  20. That reminds me of something from WoT's funny threads.
  21. I haven't played since 3.0 came out and it doesn't look like I'm going to. I keep my game up to date because I "intend" to at least play through the story once at some point (and finished the ones I haven't completed yet, like the consular) but I keep not doing it. Yeah.
  22. Sexist jerk.
  23. '98 was only like the best year in gaming ever. edit: Unless you're SonicMage of course. Then it wasn't.
  24. Just came back from Solo. I... uhm... let's for a moment disregard that Solo was eve more fan-fictiony than Rogue One was, if someone told me half a year ago that I'd walk out of Solo less disappointed than The Last Jedi I would have asked if they could pass the magic mushrooms. That's not to say that the movie was good. I almost fell asleep after having a rough last night. Being tired sure played into it but the film - for me - was entirely devoid of tension and felt like nothing at all was at stake. That might not be the fault of the movie alone, it's a prequel that deals with Han Solo. So yeah, of course we get to see the Kessel Run done in 12 parsecs, Han meeting Chewie and getting the Falcon. And no matter what happens on the screen we of course know that the Falcon is coming out in one piece and that both Han and Chewie make it through the film. The stakes are real. If it weren't a Star Wars prequel the film would have been a nice little space western. Which is more than I would have ever expected given all the troubles the production had.
