  1. '98 was only like the best year in gaming ever. edit: Unless you're SonicMage of course. Then it wasn't.
  2. Just came back from Solo. I... uhm... let's for a moment disregard that Solo was eve more fan-fictiony than Rogue One was, if someone told me half a year ago that I'd walk out of Solo less disappointed than The Last Jedi I would have asked if they could pass the magic mushrooms. That's not to say that the movie was good. I almost fell asleep after having a rough last night. Being tired sure played into it but the film - for me - was entirely devoid of tension and felt like nothing at all was at stake. That might not be the fault of the movie alone, it's a prequel that deals with Han Solo. So yeah, of course we get to see the Kessel Run done in 12 parsecs, Han meeting Chewie and getting the Falcon. And no matter what happens on the screen we of course know that the Falcon is coming out in one piece and that both Han and Chewie make it through the film. The stakes are real. If it weren't a Star Wars prequel the film would have been a nice little space western. Which is more than I would have ever expected given all the troubles the production had.
  3. Can't beat free, although the free game looks more like a strategy game than a visual novel. Unreal Gold's for free too for a while. Nice.
  4. So that is essentially what happens when you let a male "1" write something like that. Terrible hygiene inclucded.
  5. Yeah, good/interesting characters and character moments can carry even a game devoid of any plot. Like Mass Effect 2. It's a slightly above average corridor shooter with terrible fake difficulty and no story at all but who cares when you can play the game with Zaeed, Tali and Garrus.
  6. Man, that might be cheap as hell but boy do I enjoy liking my own post... sorta.
  7. Is that a game based on the awesome Asylum movie Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies? edit: Tower of Time. I backed both Deadfire and BattleTech so they don't really count.
  8. Finished Agents of Shield Season 5. Would have been a perfect series ending. Now with the Season 6 renewal... eh... meh.
  9. Finished the Battletch campaign and now playing Yoga Fire in earnest.
  10. It was certainly a very well made episode. Terrific, in fact. And all the writers had to do was leave Dolores, Cyclops and Maeve out of it. *sigh*
  11. It's hard being Eldar all the time. Even he has his limits.
  12. Well, it's again that time of the year, kids: Let's beat Lexx after school. Watch out though, he might have Skazz with him as support. Five bucks says my dog can beat up your cats! You'd lose five bucks AND would have to pay a vet patching up your crippled dog. That barely seems worth the hassle.
  13. I have a feeling that this game will suffer under the weight of its Kickstarter success. Too many campaigns like that ended up dropping stretch goals or half-assing them. Game sure looks nice though, but it's already funded and all that, might pick it up for the Switch when/if it comes out.
  14. I have a love/hate relationship with Morrowind. I started playing and hours later realized I was level 59 without ever touching the main quest. Then I tried playing that, got bored to tears and quit. Still, I'd say I got my money's worth from it but it didn't cause me to pick up any other Bethesda RPGs.
  15. Nope, no standalone patches, though the main game installer now shows "1.0.2-277R", which is the latest non-beta release. Just install Galazy*, point it at the game, wait until it's done updating, and uninstall it. I'm guessing they won't bother throwing a standalone installer together until they have assurances from HBS that it's going to take them a while to release another patch. Anyone knows if they are moving away from patch files altogether? That's another possibility. *feels pretty appropriate too, what with the crappy download speeds and all In a world before GaLazy I had to redownload the Wasteland 2 installers three times because there were no standalone patches for the current version, so that's not really new for GOG. It's weird since it got a lot better after WL2. I guess it got worse because of GaLazy.
  16. 's too much time differential between us Yuro-Peons and you Yankees to make that work and not enough posters/players in each area to make two of them, I think. Even if it would be a nice idea.
  17. Progression in this game can be really bizzarre. I went from a lance made of purely medium mechs to having two assault and two heavy mechs in the span of two missions. I'm at a point in the campaign where regular missions can't spawn assault mechs yet. I've been (ab)using that circumstance to train pilots, make some nice dough and fully deck out the Argo. edit: I guess what I was saying is don't bother trying to farm heavies if you don't have them yet, just continue the campaign. You'll be swimming in major hardware before long.
  18. Same here. It's my favorite MMO, but when my guild dissolved as people moved on to greener pastures, around the time when The Titan Awakes still hadn't been beaten by anyone, I found it impossible to enjoy with randos. I've tried to get back to it once or twice, but it's just not the same. A pity, I enjoyed the gameplay and dungeon design way way more than the WoW-derivatives that are so common now. Yeah, well, I think my WoW and SWTOR guilds basically ruined MMOs for me. It's probably not the fault of the games but I developed an online version of extreme anti-social and misanthropic behavior that makes me incredibly loathe to even try to find someone for fun group activities, let alone put up with the eccentricities of the special snow flakes that seem to make up 99% of any given MMO's population. Last year I tried to get back into EQ2 (played that at launch) but without friends or the ol' guild, uhm... it's just a big empty game world with a lot of busy work and little to look forward to.
  19. DDO is one of those games that I really want to like but just don't. Dunno.
  20. Shady's mobile auto corrected Deadfire into Yoga Fire. It's so awesome it stuck. xD
  21. Fired up Yoga Fire, made a new history because my old PoE save didn't go as I wanted (early faction bugs locked me into supporting the stupid Dozens) and then started to play, only to see that Obsidian made a "worst possible PoE outcome" history to select. I'm actually pretty tempted to try that.
  22. Yeah, I was joking, but people really lob such accusations at them. That's why they make fun of it in many reviews. Especially the DC ones.
