  3. The sequels are bound to become even sillier. What's going to stop Earth from carpet bombing everything? It took the combined forces of the Na'vi and a somewhat literal Deus Ex Machina Luna to fight off an ill prepared attack from a small defensive military force that employed terrible tactics. Unless Earth employs General Hux as supreme commander how's that going to end well for the Na'vi lke, at all?

  5. If you really want to use (Great) Cleave then reach weapons are the way to go as they make having viable targets in range easier. You can pick any one of them you like, there are plenty of good options available (IIRC there are good Glaives early on). Just keep in mind that Cleave adds another layer of micromanagement to your character - one that you necessarily have to pay attention to once you get additional attacks and buffs like Haste or a weapon with the Speed modifier. In general most weapon types are fine. There's a distinct lack of Star Knives and most racial weaponry except for Elven Curved Blades. Which are top tier two handers but probably not worth losing a feat over compared to Falchions for a STR based build unless you're playing an Elf.

  7. I'm not surprised that Mike liked TMP (but even he calls it dull ). He's right about it being the most Trek of the Trek movies. Still, this'll be one of the times I disagree with him on. The film is dull. There's so much filler because it's just an episode of Star Trek spread over feature film length. Quite literally even given Phase II's development history nad how it ended up being this dull travesty of a film. It's made worse by seeing all elements in place - special effects were good for the time, there's the exploration parts of V'Ger and Spock does some exploring of his own (or maybe the human) condition. They just don't mesh into something enjoyable for me.
  8. I think I speak for all of us and truth when I say that you should think with your brain not with your nostalgia. Today's games are much better than Betrayal at Krondor was when it came out, and they're only getting better... ...eh, nah. Can't do it. Sorry.
  9. If you make such a character yourself you should probably use an Inquisitor for Stern Gaze. Gromnir talked about this build earlier in the thread.
  10. Thug has been fixed recently so giving her some Thug levels, Intimidating Prowess, Dazzling Display, Power Attack, Cornugon Smash and Shatter Defenses should make good use of that charisma. Still not ideal but at least it makes her do something useful instead of wasting a party slot if you really want to take her along.
  11. Oh, yeah. It takes some doing to get any actual value out of Valerie. She's not strong, as dextrous as a tree but has the charisma of a Paladin. That last one at least makes sense roleplaying-wise given her character background but who in their right mind makes a DEX 13 character for an archetype that is built around allowing a high dexterity bonus in heavy armor (and as far as fighters go TSS isn't even really good even with optimal stats). As far as pregenerated NPCs in roleplaying games go her stats are probably among the worst, and that takes some doing considering some of the characters in Baldur's Gate or NWN.

  14. Well... yeah. Here's the rub though, I thought Anette was terrible on Dark Passion Play but ended up really enjoying her performance on Imaginaerium. I've by far and large stopped listening to Nightwish. No real desire to get used to another vocalist only to have her fired shortly thereafter. Speaking of new things, new single from Within Temptation. Not sure if I like that more than the pop-gothic they've put out in the past few years, although I don't mind them being a bit heavier again (or actually heavy, for a change, it that makes sense). I just never expected... well... dunno, this sounds like Nine Inch Nails at times. edit: Speaking of NIN:

  16. Played Project Warlock, fun little retro shooter with a bunch of issues, I'm hoping future patches eventually fix the lighting (maps are way too dark unless you turn down the graphics quality) of the maps and the wonky performance.

  19. Lionhead Studios and Fable Legends would be the obvious example of a studio and a project completely messed up by Microsoft's interference. I'm expecting an eventual Obsidian and inXile merger in some form.
  20. I'm not sure I'd craft Crom Faeyr for Anomen, he has easy access to Draw Upon Holy Might and later Righteous Magic, but slapping CF on him is certainly the low maintenance version. For my preferred BG2 party setup and playstyle CF is a nice weapon but not one I end up using all that much. By far and large my PC ends up being a Fighter/Mage or Fighter/Thief with an extra attack off-hand and Foebane and a permanent strength score of 22 anyway and NPCs that can pick up Whirlwind Attack usually end up wielding something flashy with two hands.

It's been a long while since I've played Baldur's Gate 2 and unless the Enhanced Edition really shuffled things around one can get Black Blood and Belm from Trademeet and the Druid Grove respectively, both available early on - and Spectral Brand in Watcher's Keep which available - if a bit hard at that point - just after leaving Chateau Irenicus. Sure she'll never reach the effectiveness of a custom built Fighter/Mage (well, what is) but there are some really nice druid spells to complement the fighting. Not to mention that Nature's Beauty is ridiculous. It won't kill hard enemies but permanent blindness with no save makes for hilarious boss fights. The only downside is the really long casting time and short range, but with Iron Skin and some heavy equipment a Fighter/Druid stands the best chances of pulling it off.
  22. Finally finished the game. The last area was an excercise in patience: Extremely slow loading screens, ambushing Wild Hunt monsters and bugs. Like they really tried their damndest to get people to abandond the game just before finishing it. Not every happy with the game bug-locking me out of the secret ending but eh, I'll just do that after all the patching.
  23. Newsflash: The purpose of playing Crpg's are for story, gameplay/combat was always horrid from realtime with pause systems. You were afterthe wrong thing. You do know that Tides of Numenera's combat system is turn based, right?

German long term welfare (which by far and large is the only thing most refugees can look forward to) aims to perpetually lock people in subsistence to serve as a source of cheap labor, not as support beam to help them rise back to their feet. You end up utterly dependent on the state, unable to particiapte in any form of social life and there's no silver lining or light at the end of the tunnel where everything becomes better if you work hard and improve - which is hard enough as it is without the state actively pushing them down. Modern serfdom, in the end - Guard Dog's worst nightmares come true. The people you see on these pictures are afraid that what little they have left will be taken away by foreigners. Their fears aren't completely unfounded. German serfs at least know about their rights and have legal representation or unions attempting to make their lot better. Immigrants fleeing death and destruction or starvation most likely don't care if they're illegally paid below minimum wage. It's easy to look at them from the outside and wonder why they all look degenerate, how they can be prejudiced or downright racist and why they vote for parties that promise them a better future and a common enemy to rally against. The truth is that they have nothing else to look forward to. Nothing else to do. They're right to think that Germany failed them. Right to think that Mutti Angela failed them. It's just not because of all the refugees. That's just a cheap way to unify and direct an otherwise aimless disillusionnment.
