  1. So like I said, your own special brand of capitalism that hasn't been tried. Then you're blind. When you've got the divide between propertied and property-less, employee and wage-worker, master and servant there is going to repression by the former against the latter to maintain their position. Are you going to forcibly redistribute resources so everyone begins with a level start/actually has resources or are we going to leave things as is so those who already have the most wealth and power have greater freedom to exploit these privileges while the poor and hungry bend over for their economic masters. Depending on your own economic background I'm guessing you are either incredibly servile or a would-be tyrant.
  2. That seems detrimental to freedom. Or is that not a goal?
  3. It's not like there's some dramatic backstory. I come from poverty stricken white trash and I read a lot.
  4. Only if they're some college kid whose just picked up the Communist Manifesto and now fancies them-self the next Lenin.
  5. Ah yes the "my perfect version of capitalism would not have these flaws" meme. Do tell has there ever existed a period wherein capitalism did not rely on repression and authoritarianism or is this just limited to the realm of theory?
  6. And these things aren't mutually exclusive of each other. All my point was is that both socialism and capitalism will rely on repressive and authoritarian measures to protect the interests of their respective 'ruling class' and it'd be dishonest to say otherwise.
  7. The existence of a private sector requires repression and authoritarianism. Edit: Where's my avatar?
  8. I doubt even he believes that's possible.
  9. Basically. It's also a pretty easy way to trigger someone within the Leninist school of thought. Unless history is really desperate to sell us on Obama I very much doubt that. He'll be a historical footnote at most.
  10. Nah. It's a Marxist who defends the Soviet Union from Khrushchev onwards and more specifically supports the Soviets sending tanks to crush the Hungarian Uprising of 1956 and/or the Prague Spring in 1968. Mao(ists) and the more hardline Stalinists condemned this.
  11. I for one look forward to the liquidation of America's kulak class.
  12. It's funny, in a depressing way.
  13. A collection of some of the footage. Also there's (likely) dead bodies so heads up if you can't handle that sort of thing.
  14. It's not what I would have done but it was probably the safest option available. Seeing that they had no actual speech or course of action and have since not used this publicity to actually make their point all they've done is made massive fools of themselves. If Sanders had done anything else it would've reflected worse on him.
  15. Your views seem to be a little all over the place. Do you believe him to be Clinton's stooge or a third party rebel?
  16. This is like the second or third time, no?
  17. A consequence of the limitations of Privilege Theory. Although it does point out legitimate societal grievances and biases it fails to provide a concrete reason as to why these biases exist or what should be done about them. Because of this they are incapable of seizing the problem by its roots and instead focus on trimming the leaves and in doing so leave the issue entirely in place all the while antagonizing potential allies. Naturally the internet being the internet will not wade through the bull**** and examine the pros and cons but instead find whoever is the extreme opposite of those who advocate privilege theory and latch onto that.
  18. ...... Tbh I thought the stereotype was the other way around. I'm always complaining about the cold whereas my gf doesn't mind it at all.
