Iirc, my daughter was 8-9 when she found out the "truth" about Santa from the other kids in school and it wasnt a big deal for her. Nor were the deaths of the Tooth Fairy and Easter Bunny, but I dont remember how I broke those to her.

Happy Holidays all! Im off from 24 Dec - 2 Jan so Im pretty stoked about that. But that pile of presents arent going to wrap themselves so Ive got to get busy! We just setup the tree on Sunday.

Ive never driven on the left, but I think the combination of that and the steering wheel being on the other side, would result in me in a ditch.

I think my hairiest cab experience was going from fleet landing to Stanley Market in Hong Kong circa 1989-1990. The back of the cab was packed with wasted sailors, he drove like a bat out of hell, on the wrong side of the road, and I seem to remember peering out the window and looking at an open cliff face next to the road with no barrier. Dont remember how we got back. Good times.

Thats your new gamepad, right? w00t!

My guess is simply tradition, but I dont know the genesis. All our pants (dress and working) still had bellbottoms too, for when sailors used to pull up their pant legs to scrub the decks: This is why the Navy wears bell bottoms, and it's not for fashion - We Are The Mighty EDIT: Google says the 13 main buttons are for the original 13 colonies.

Heh, I still have, and fit into, my Navy dress blues and dress whites. Protip: The pants have 14 buttons, so we would only button the top corners and middle button, for faster pants removal.

I had to look that up, but my condolences. Nothing more that can be done? Maybe even volunteer for some experimental CRISPR?

It depends on if you replace just the furnace or the whole HVAC. A new furnace will probably run around 5k, more for the whole system. Since its probably all original to the condo I recommend the latter.

I guess we dodged that bullet, just raining here.

Heh, I dont even answer my phone unless the number is already programmed into my contact list. T-Mobile is also pretty good with alerts like "Scam Likely" being displayed for some of the unknown numbers. Those immediately get permanently blocked.

Dont get me started! I was already annoyed that T-Rex and Velociraptor evolved EXACTLY THE SAME on another planet. -

Yes!...No!...Im not sure yet!... The bifocal peripheral spot is noticeable (and I got the second widest range available) but I find that I really just need to retrain my eyeball muscle memory to look at the correct area and then its perfect. My previous glasses had thin (top to bottom) lenses so I used to just peek under them for close-in reading. My vanity made me select the no-line bifocals, but I think if you get the bifocal lenses that have the visible line across them then this isnt an issue?

About a week ago I had all I could stand, I couldnt stand no more, of my new Transition lenses. I went back to the eyeglass store and fell on my sword fully prepared to have to purchase another set of new lenses (I kept the frames). To my great surprise, and even with me adding in a no-line bifocal, they replaced the lenses at no charge! Its a little freaky getting used to the bifocal part but they work great and I can now see up close without propping them on top of my head.

Thanks. Me too, man, me too. Otherwise everything is following me into the grave.

@rjshae I dont get the reference can you fill me in? I really dont understand the US military reluctance to go fully unmanned. What the difference between the pilot sitting in the ****pit, observing a bank of sensor displays and carrying out the mission, and a pilot doing the exact same thing in a room at some base? I suppose there could be a few milliseconds of "lag" between input and aircraft reaction? I mean, its not like theyre looking out the windows to see whats going on around them. It seems to me that the meat sack is just a liability in a bomber. IMO, we also need to stop clutching our pearls about "AI" and start making some serious gains.
