Politics and Statesmenship: A Forum Special Report
Agreed, we are terribad at that. It makes me wonder if Japan and Germany were just dumb luck wrt rebuilding after WWII. Or maybe Western and ME mindsets are too far apart to work together?

Politics and Statesmenship: A Forum Special Report
As would most of the internet forum "think tanks" who love to trot out that line, but reality does not bear that out. Weve invaded the crap out of the middle east for almost 30 years and I just paid $3.19 / gallon for my gas. What the hell! No doubt the pipeline from Iraq to the US is held up indefinitely in environmental court over the plight of the one-winged ME sparrow. So back to "winning" a war. If that country is going to need a decade just to return to flushing crappers, is that a "win"?

What is winning a war nowadays? We don't have any interest in occupation or resources, so it seems bombing someone to rubble effectively removes them from the world stage anyway.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
Everyone is always worried about what someone else has / earns. Weird. What in the world makes you guys think that a one time payment means you get free upgrades forever? Does any other industry do that? Or to use your analogy "oh those poor devs working 90 hour weeks for peanuts and expecting extra reimbursement for additional products".

Sharp_ones good bye
On one hand I never like to dismiss opinions because I don't share them, but on the other hand we have to learn to function and communicate within the boundaries that our hosts set.

Weirder, More random, More Interesting.
I envision our X-37 as a proof-of-concept platform for "rods from god", but Im sure it much less exiting. Maybe useful for grappling and deorbiting other satellites?

Lol, I had the same reaction. I was expecting some cluster munition that disgorged spear-like penetrators but instead...a high precision apple corer. I guess I cant dispute the results though.

What you did today?
It looks like 4 months for BOTH parents. I could have sworn one of those socialist paradises had even longer leave.

What you did today?
My wife had it, iirc it was 90 days. But I didn't get Jack. I understand nowadays the fathers get it too and it can be up to 6 months (?!).

Politics and Statesmenship: A Forum Special Report
Checking over my numbers, were going to need to import a crapton more "rich" to finance our free houses.

Politics and Statesmenship: A Forum Special Report
Raithe's post in another thread made me think...how about free houses for everyone! It can easily be argued that a roof over your head is a "fundamental right" (yadda yadda), even moreso than an "education". Now this is an idea that I can get behind because I too would get to partake in the spoils (god knows I wouldn't go to school at my age if it suddenly became "free"). As always, we can "just pay for it" or "tax the rich" and *BOOM* I just solved homelessness and my mortgage in one fell swoop.

In my case, it was more economical and provided more focused attention to use a private lady than a franchise daycare. Check your local listings.
