What you did today?
If youre going to continue to average 30k miles / year, you should get something cheap because its going to be worthless after 4 years anyway.

Im right there with you GD. My 2009 Camry is rocking 197K+ miles but Im just going to drive it into the ground. Not having an additional car payment is a godsend.

Because of statements contained in paragraphs; 1, 5 and 8. Perhaps the WSJ states unequivocally that university participation is not mandatory?

Oof, could you imagine technology behind a weapon powerful enough to push stars. I loved that show and remember being surprised it got canceled but Killjoys survived.

Exactly. Because he didn't know what is Allepo.

^All that other stuff already existed so if the QQ score is completely voluntary then this is nothing more than signaling. "Look at me! Im even MORE disadvantaged!" I should have known.

If the SAT is standardized, and the QQ score is standardized, how is it not the same for all schools? Its not mandatory? Just more virtue signaling? Can we circle back to someone paying off my mortgage or at least my kid college education?

You bet I am! Ive 100% embraced someone else financing my life, because I deserve it. Each school is going to have a different hardship meter? Lol, that makes it even better.

The "15 factors" are behind the WSJ paywall but we can probably guess a couple that weren't already mentioned: Minority Household income 2 Parents I mean really, its just affirmative action V2.0. Im sure if you tick the "minority", "no daddy" or "ate up with social anxieties" then you will shoot to the top of the list. BUT WAIT! That just gets you admitted! Since that student is already laboring under this unfair "adversities", there is no doubt they will not be able to finance their education either, so it will have to become a scholarship! Weve gone full circle but Im just glad everyone is included this time.

SAT to use "Adversity Score". Bwahahaha, delicious, but at least this program should include all races.

TV & streaming thread
I haven't watched the 4th season on Netflix yet but the first 3 seasons were "alright", imo. Not to spoil anything, but I eventually was having a harder and harder time reconciling that Lucifer was so goddamn stupid about understanding humanity when hes literally been around since BEFORE humanity.

Whoa whoa whoa, I was in the Navy and the Marines are a department of the Navy, so they work for us. 😛 And now I think Im too old, unless all hell breaks loose.

Doesn't the rest of the world realize that they merely have to purchase the Chinese CARRIER KILLER and the US will never be able to leave its shores again. That reminds me of the bogeyman antiship missile of my era, the fearsome sea skimming, unstoppable Exocet.

Uh oh, now everyone with internet access knows how to defeat the US! Or General Riper outfoxed Blue team. Hmm, I wonder what it could be. 🤔

Politics and Statesmenship: A Forum Special Report
Agreed, we are terribad at that. It makes me wonder if Japan and Germany were just dumb luck wrt rebuilding after WWII. Or maybe Western and ME mindsets are too far apart to work together?

Politics and Statesmenship: A Forum Special Report
As would most of the internet forum "think tanks" who love to trot out that line, but reality does not bear that out. Weve invaded the crap out of the middle east for almost 30 years and I just paid $3.19 / gallon for my gas. What the hell! No doubt the pipeline from Iraq to the US is held up indefinitely in environmental court over the plight of the one-winged ME sparrow. So back to "winning" a war. If that country is going to need a decade just to return to flushing crappers, is that a "win"?
-
Politics and Statesmenship: A Forum Special Report
What is winning a war nowadays? We don't have any interest in occupation or resources, so it seems bombing someone to rubble effectively removes them from the world stage anyway.
