  1. Is Soldiers peak the same as "wardens keep" or something else?
  2. So you actually WANT to spend time on constantly shuffling potions and healing spells even outside of combat? Or the even more retarded option of going to sleep in the middle of a bloody zombie-infested dungeon?!! I just dont get some people.
  3. Ive noticed something I dont like, the eyeballs dont have any type of shadows so in bright ambient light you get dead-fish syndrome. Its really creepy looks like the eyes could be just pasted on top in photoshop. It looks to me like the eye meshes dont actually move, its just the iris texture that slides around by animating the UVs. Well, Id use double color/diffuse textures, one for the iris with transparency and one for the eyeball with baked ambient occlusion so that the eye would actually look like its in the socket while still being able to look around without people seeing the AO/lightmap move around aswell (why am I writing this here, btw?) I hate you guys. srsly.
  4. We still dont get source code and the documentation isnt very elaborate, which makes it very difficult to make something non-fps out of it. We tried making a top-down tactical thingie game with it and we had to do some very odd stuff to make it do what we wanted. Like making an intentionally broken texture to make certain things invisible, because we couldnt just tell the engine to stop rendering it like we should have been able to.
  5. The Diablo games belong to subgenre of RPGs thats called "roguelikes". The official academic definition of an Action-RPG is any game that has stats, abilities, perks and so on. but where you directly control your characters moves. Such as Gothic, Mass Effect or Fallout 3.
  6. I'm not exactly sure, but maybe the trick could be reading the responses and deciding what they mean in the context? Having a "nice response", "rude response" and "I'm outta here" is stupid and oversimplified. You shouldn't always know how the person is going to interpret your response. The Mass Effect system is not simple and oversimplified, its in fact the best and smoothest dialogue system of any game ever created. In DA it has now happened several times that I go "I want to ask him about this, but there are no options yet so Ill just try this reply, it seems like it would lead the conversation in that direction." only to find that the reply ends the conversation alltogether and I cant bring that up again without releoading and restarting the conversation. In ME, I could have just clicked on an option to the left, which I know will continue the conversation. Like this: Ive noticed that the replies on top are generally nice and the ones in the bottom usually ends the conversation, but it doesnt follow that rule with any consistency which adds to the inconvenience. In DA, I mean.
  7. The real danger of the EU as a goverment is when they pass laws on things they know nothing about, such as the internet. The parlamentarians down in Brussels/Strasbourg seem to make a point of being even less informed about whats going on than their national counterparts. Also, no degos please. Yes, Im talking about you, Italy.
  8. I think the most annoying feature is the lack of dialogue structure, often you cant be sure if a response is positive or negative and wether it will end the conversation or continue it. I expected them to use the same technique Mass Effect did, which was brilliant. Youd know that the bottom-right reply would finish the conversation, top-left would be something kind and so on. In DA you're completely left out to the writers, so for example; what you might think is a joking reply will be an insult that ends the conversation so you miss out on something.
  9. The original concept behind DLC was to provide something that would keep interest in the game going past release. It was about keeping the game in the public spotlight longer, not about making money from microtransactions. That way it would stay on the top shelves and people would keep on buying it. And they would also know that if they bought your game, they would get more stuff to play after they finished the game, so its like an entertainment investment. money grubbing wasnt the idea
  10. Starting work on extra content after the main game has completed is the way to go, no one can argue with that. The problem is that it looks like Bioware did all of it at the same time, removed some parts and then tried to sell them to consumers who have already paid full price for a full game. And thats guaranteed to upset people. With Mass Effect, it was clear that the DLC was created separately from the game. So people did not feel like they were being ripped off like they do now.
  11. No one is saying they dont have the right to try and make money, but we cant allow them to do it by any means necessary because that will always lead to the consumer being ****ed over in the end.
  12. My wizards run out of juice all the time so I thought Id get some mana-leeching spells, the problem is that I have no idea which ones are any good. "mana drain" is utterly useless, it barely gives me back 1% of my total mana pool. I wasted a whole levelup on that p.o.s spell I really hate it when developers add useless red herring spells/abilities/perks that are only there to keep you on edge when building your character.
  13. I agree wholeheartedly that release-date DLC is unethical and I dont like this trend one bit. In fact, this scenario was just what i was worried about when the whole DLC concept was launched a few years ago. Ill pay for extra content, but to take stuff out of the game that should have been in there and try to sell it is as an extra is just bastardly. That some people give in and pay up doesnt make it right, quite the contrary. "Welcome to the EA restaurant, if you want cheese on your cheeseburger that'll be $5 extra."
  14. Mass Effect is sweeter: -much better looking -more interesting setting -better writing -gameplay was cooler (i liek 3ps) -the little details were better thought-through like the dialogue wheel and so on. -fantasy is homoerotic while space is totally friggin awesome!
  15. You still tab between windows even in windowed mode. But fullscreen is the way to go, I have dualscreen so I can see whats going on in the background while I play anyway. Except when I turn that screen off because its distracting.
  16. No, Im totally playing a pirated copy. I dont know what caused it, possibly because I was alt-tabbing back to windows alot to answer messages. Hasnt happened since the origin story though. edit: it seems to be a Win7 x64 nvidia-specific bug
  17. I can, but I cant play in friggin XBOX 360 1280x720 res so everything is just a big blur on my 1920x1200 screen.
  18. I cannot just stand idly by and let you viciously slander the best game ever. This agression will not stand, man. The truth is that you could pay a hundred dollars for Mass Effect and Itd be totally worth it. This post is funny because it sounds like Im being sarcastic, but Im not. Buy the damn game!
  19. The loading times on a 10000rpm Velociraptor are very fast. Although it froze and crashed once when transitioning from an area
  20. I HAS IT!!!!!!!!!!!! First impressions: -The story seems rather generic and clich
  21. Ive played a lot of COD4 mutliplayer and Im really amazed at all the crap they've done with MW2. There seems to be no real reason for it, its like they're just set to keep MW2 from being a serious multiplayer game like the original. Admin cant kick **** players anymore? You cant even use the console anymore?!! WTF. "yeah, we sold 13 million copies of COD4 which was really stressful, so hopefully, this way we can get it down to just the console players."
  22. Whats on the bonus DVD? I ordered the regular one because Im cheap
  23. CoD4 doesnt send any friggin' message either, its completely and utterly subjective. Somone might say paintball is worse because you cause actual pain, whereas another person would say Quake is worse because it has blood pixels. You cant really say that videogames are violent, you can only state your personal opinion. And that opinion changes with time and the public consensus.
  24. Bless the maker and his water, bless the coming and going of him, may his passing cleanse the world. *whispers to self*
