  1. Streamings are good but even better are youtube videos - focused and compact. Ashen Rohk already is doing a great job, I suggest non beta testers check his channel out https://www.youtube.com/user/theonlyrpgshack/videos
  2. Shouldn't you first state you opinion? Why do you think it feels like a console game? Else it seems like a provocative post It is faster, more streamlined, less clean and you lose some freedom around ( like the ability to attack anything and anyone, even in towns, small things that probably you will never do, but i like to be able tu do if i like) These doesn't qualify one as a console game though. Just as a faster, streamlined and less free game

  4. First game I played on my new celeron after I finished my draft and after a 5 year hiatus from video games
  5. Here's an early opinion by a non-beta backer as formed by what I've watched up to now (because I do believe devs want to hear from us too, unless one wants to state utherwise). Pretty much everything looks better than Pillars 1, especially characters, scripted interactions and dialogue options which is very good imo 'cuse these were the aspects I was looking forward that would up the roleplay experience the first one lacks (although it had the potential). Combat looks fun enough and interesting and not as fast as many claim (I never used slow motion option in the original) BUT being not able to play it myself, I cannot comment on the problem Boeroer brought up (the one about universal talents and sucky single classes) which seems to dominate the conversations about th enegatives of the game and it has pretty much to do with combat (it raises good points, imo). The background graphics, though, I'm sad to say, don't look that great (or at least as good seemed to me those of the original at the time) and, again, I have to bring up DOS2, as the latest iso-rpg, which dwarfs Deadfire's. But, as Adam Brennecke said, they lack final pass-over so we'll have to wait for the update that adds it in the (near I hope) future to have a final opinion. The lighting is very good, though, indeed So there's my opinion at the time; I won't post frequently here (most likely not again until next beta update) and hopefully kept the waters clean and tidy for the actual players to engage in more constructive critisism
  6. Welcome back Ashen Rohk This is what I was waiting for as non-beta person to get info about the game. Someone who knows the games and the genre and makes dedicated videos about each aspect with calm voice and no shouting, cursing etc. The british accent is a little bonus I really enjoyed your vides during Pillars 1 beta, and I sure do now. Keep it up mate!
  7. Used to be normal here, then this happened (0:14):
  8. I couldn't have been bad because it is the standard system of every game except Pillars It just won't be so unique anymore. And, yea, I tend to agree that injuries are more punishing, although it has been done by others too.
  9. If anyone in this forum is going to stream or upload video stuff about beta, will, if be so kind, leave a comment here? Or even better open a thread? Because I know you're gonna do it way better than Elloheim
  10. Most probably it won't cost less that 35 on release.
  11. So, currently, it looks like we won't have full control over how we multiclass companions. A little disappointing, as I had been looking forward to making Edér a Fighter/Priest of Eothas, but perhaps it'll change. Yeah sounds like a bummer, although it gives the companions more character tbh.
  12. Indeed, @MaxQuest. The problem with streamers are that the stream is all about them and not the game. That's why I'll wait and see dedicated videos on youtube by people who (hopefully) will focus on, categorize and explain different features of the game in compact seperate videos. Elloheim's stream is like 9 hours long and most of the time is he shouting and trying to figure things out. Cool to do it by yourself but not good for others to get info about the game.
  13. I don't assume anything. I liked the split system a lot but if the new one works fine, I'm ok.
  14. Most probably not from damage threshold. They haven't said anything like that and with injuries being a way to die in Deadfire I think it would have been a bit "cheap" to have you die in the middle of combat because an opponent rolled a good attack out of nowere.
  15. Elloheim still streaming lol. I tried to watch him last night after the Obs streaming but he was all too annoying so I decided to sleep instead. Now I'm at work, opened twitch to watch the character creation section but he's still here playing :D Anyway, 1st "problem" is my main problem with all Pillars predecessors: tiny fonts. Yeah they're back but I believe the option to make them bigger will be around this time too. Looking forward to youtube videos any time soon by whoever will have the kindness to put the effort and upload any
  16. eh, Since you haven't backed at that level already I'd say wait for release. You can always watch let's plays on youtube and comment in here. If you were a beta guy you'd already know that I am still in a process of self discovering. Personally I was hyped about betas of other projects I backed in the past too, only to find that I played it a couple of times for 1 hour and then dropped it, waiting for the real thing. I'm not the person to scrutinize the beta. I'd give feedback based on the little I played, what I watched others do or just follow links of beta testers that will drop in here and discuss subjects individually as they bring them up.
  17. Although it's minor in my hype priorities, I like the new resting system with food. As MaxQuest said, it's a bit more immersive and I won't treat food as trash anymore I was feeling kinda bad about it :D
  18. @MaxQuest From what I understood, you consume 1 food. A basic food (fish etc) gives you one bonus but if you eat a meal you gain several bonuses. I believe this is to encourage cooking "crafting".
  19. eh, Since you haven't backed at that level already I'd say wait for release. You can always watch let's plays on youtube and comment in here. If you were a beta guy you'd already know that
  20. We're gonna learn about what we can and cannot change tomorrow at the live streaming, I suppose.
  21. It transfers all choices though which ones will affect Deadfire we have to wait and see. I don't recall making a significant choice that was based on my race/class though. I mean that it had some serious concequence.
  22. Good thing food is not consumed from inventory any longer - only during resting.
  23. Yeah the technique is good and can give you a nice visual outcome but if you care for more than visuals then, I don't know, I think 2D limits you a lot or if it doesen't it mkes things much more difficult for you. But, hey, I'm no programmer, maybe I'm wrong. On the other hand, if the devs having a hard time working back and forth from 3D to 2D I don't want to be selfish and insist they do something they don't feel like doing any longer. In the end, I'm ok with whatever they choose to go. Even if it is a 3rd person camera game. I'll still miss the iso-style but it's their game and their worktime. I might just not buy it if I think I won't like it and that's all. PS: I think 2D graphics work better when the game is 2D entirely. The magic is consistent.
  24. Btw, they updated these: http://store.steampowered.com/app/560130/Pillars_of_Eternity_II_Deadfire/ https://www.gog.com/game/pillars_of_eternity_ii_deadfire There are some new screens in there
