It's where something unexpected happened that puts the plot in a new light. Like in FFX when Tidus finds out Sins identity or when he realises just what the summoners journey is really all about.

Kreia can see into the future and there is something special about Mira's future which obviously disturbs her. Whether she is actually preparing her to face that future , or is trying to kill her isnt really clear. As a Grey Jedi you dont really have any advantages. Regardless of which side you are on, you can use any force powers (the only difference being the cost) later in the game the extra cost becomes negligable.

GameFaqs usuallly have some saved games.

KOTOR wasnt any different to NwN in it's obviousness. On Kyyshayyk (or however the furballs spell it) the computer gives away the fact you are Revan in a totally obvious manner. Then you get to play dumb until the leviathon , just like you get to play dumb until the ritual in NwN. If you say so. " Regardless JE is still going on the rental list until the story passes inspection.

I like epic. I just dont like obvious and thats what Bioware have been since NwN. I especially loathe the way they try to be clever by putting in a "twist" then make it so obvious in game clues it's impossible to miss if your paying attention. Blokey in NwN and those letters you get off the assasins. The whole Revan thing in KOTOR If your going to give people in game clues then you need to give them option to act on them. Or it's blatently obvious you are being railroaded and nothing you do matters anyway.

Most definately. Could it have been better, most definately. But thats applicable to 99% of other games I've played too. I'ts a game I've played 4 times which is rare and really something I've not done much of since IWD days. Use of skills/stats, turning the walking furball into a deep thinking (in his own way) and the beeping trashcan into someone that just oozed character. The elements to streamline the gameplay were also much appreciated, easy weapon switching and having the AI on the selection panel where you could access it more easily. The crafting system needs work. It might be a little masochistic, but having gotten used to crafting systems that involve scouring the world for the bits to make the best items, it came across as a bit flat.

It's on my rental list. I can't say I'm looking forward to another obvious Bioware story, but the gameplay looks good and it's just a case of wait and see if the story is worthwhile.

This game has it's claws in me

Best sequel I have ever seen has to be ShadowHearts II. Everything that niggled me about the first game was corrected, the combat system was totally reworked but still stayed fundamentally the same, the characters were given many more customisation options and the fusions werre a 1000 times better. -
There is also nothing wrong with returning faulty software.

Debate: Hirelings & Henchmen
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Monte Carlo's topic in Computer and Console
It does however have a huge influence and is the determining difficulty factor unless you stack the rules. If the monster AI just mills around doing nothing then it's not going to be much of a challenge. That was my point really. There is nothing special about the fighter AI yet it can still clean house while you sit back and drink your tea except in "boss" encounters.Speacil AI could probably handle the boss encounters too. Of course good AI on your side will make the game easier just look at those combat sims like SWAT or even the bots in some FPS games. Not sure how you could come to any other conclusion? Poor AI makes the game harder because you have to bail out the AI (or just let it die and then resurect it). If you have universaly good AI on both sides, then a novice player is going to be watching more than playing. Which is what I meant about AI's being a catch 22. In the end it's something only the developers can work out because it's all about playtesting rather than theory. -

Not really no (not forgetting that is) It would simply end up with super AI on one side super AI on the other and the player floundering in the middle. -

Darth Nihilus:the pushover
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to MiseryMachine's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
He's more fun with a stock saber. I still dont think there is much between them KOTOR and KOTOR II when it comes to difficulty. ShadowHearts end boss took about hour and a half to kill and required pulling every trick in the book. Somehow I dont think bosses of that magnitude would be a wide term desire myself. But it was satisfying -
Becoming a Sith does not put you on the republics side. Only by revisionist history of KOTOR II. No they fight for you , in both cases you are their only alligience. (Jolee Juhani fight for the Jedi/republic which is evident by them trying to stop you).

Please show where Revan is an amnesiac then. There are opinions and there are facts, and in this case it's a fact that Revan was programmed with a new personality and was not just mindwiped. If your opinion is contrary to that, then your opinion is wrong.

Light/Dark mastery
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to LadyCrimson's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I usually just let the characters personility dictate the actions whatever the outcome. Rather than just maximise DS or LS points. Kreias little pupil, my second character would often be chastised for be too evil. It's like the influence thing. If your goal is to get to a mastery asap then it's easy and fast. If your goal is to play your character then it tends to be more measured. I think I lost mastery 5 or 6 times in the first game usually from talking to people on the ship. -

There is a bit of a catch 22 with AI. If it's poor it spoils the believability of the game. And if it's too good, then your character will be reduced to being a spectator while the super AI cleans up. You can see the beginings of it even with NwNs poor AI when you have two fighter types. Most encounters your participation is optional as you just shepard them around. If you have more AI companions the effect becomes more pronounced, even more so if they are well programmed and efficient. -
I'm not breaking any laws. Plus if the game goes blackscreen more than once it's going back regardless of whether its for a new copy or a new game.
