Who was the better Sith Lord?
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Jedi Master Revan's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Malak was a bit of a prat really. Anyone know how he could lose his jaw and not die? It's a really , really odd wound for combat. -
The Incomplete Endings are lame.

Fool or not he kicks serious butt I expect in game terms he'd have a better than evens chance of killing Kreia too. Of course it all depends on his training and his equipment. But thats just another reason why one size fits all scenes are not good for games. -
Goto. Man or Machine?
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Jedi Master Revan's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Just think if you ever got to the forgotten world you could play beach volley ball with him. Mira, Visas and Brianna in swimsuits, it's a game all of it's own :D -
wrong on both accounts. You shouldnt see the template thing as a negative. It simply puts the game in the proper perspective.

It would have made no sense though. Because Atton could have kicked Sions arse into the middle of next week at that point in the game. If it had happened on Koriban (assuming Korriban was pushed up the order of planets) then it would have had meaning. You know the bit where you all run away and Sion dosnt follow you? As it stood at the end it was just very cheap. Besides Atton has stealth and is not a believer in fair fights. -
The difference is really simple. KOTOR tried to hide the plot twise (NwN too) but failed because of really obvious writing. It's quite clear from the way the game is written because no will acknowledge your identity until the writers are ready to reveal the twist. KOTOR II makes no attempt to hide that Kreia is manipluative and working towards her on ends. Which is why its not a twist. Nothing illogical about it.

In other words you can modify the existing template.

Goto. Man or Machine?

Not unless he is lying, which I wouldnt put beyond him. He does actually spill that his base of operations is the torture droid. -
Goto. Man or Machine?

Most definately a machine. -
You cant switch off , or modify the ring in part I. But you can slow it down with items if it gets too much. Dont know if you have played Gladius ? But ShadowHearts isnt as bad as that was for timing.

This game has it's claws in me
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to LadyCrimson's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
You dont have to be the son of a god. But you do genrally need some sort of personal link to the plot. Otherwise the player needs to do much of the "filling in" and it's evident that this isnt something that a lot of CRPG players can do (not that you can really blame them, because with lots of years of PnP you do it almost without thinking about it). While I personally like the hands off approach, unless you are able and willing to create your own characters, those with a predesiged background will be more complete, and feel more a part of the world as a whole. -
It's only a spoiler if it's actually part of the game.

Someone got a link ?

Very Difficult

Stationary AI and ranged weapons. Destroy droid comes in handy too for taking out the turrets. Taking personal control of Bao to crack each shield also makes things easier. -

Never liked the endings either. Although the reason was twofold. First I was incredulous that Sion could have killed Atton in game when Atton in my game was only a fraction less uber than a I was. Second the whole doom and gloom thing just dosnt work in SW. Even EP V which is pretty gloomy ends on a high note with Luke getting a new hand that looks remarkably like the original. Lando joining the good guys and going off to search for Han etc. I'm not totally objectional to characters dying ,but they must do so in a game manner rather than just because the writer thinks its a good idea. Otherwise it makes irrelevent all that growth and careful nurturing. In games where characters die it generally happens in one of two ways. After the fact (once the game is over). They finish the job , but something occured that means they will miss the happy ending. Frodo in a way, or Alice. Tidus in FFX, they save the world but in doing so they sacrifice their own lives. At a point where their sacrifice is the only way to continue. Such as "gramps" in FFV and Mareg in Grandia II. It's not simply a case of them dying and then 5 minutes later you happening along and killing what killed them. They die so that you can become strong enough to face something that would have killed you in a heartbeat at that stage of the quest. Thats why the sacrifice has meaning. If they died and then you killed the thing in 2 or 3 rounds, their deaths would just have been cheap and wasteful. -
Atton's train to jedi conversation

Novels are a whole lot easier. You dont have to deal with an randomness and you dont have to worry about technical difficulties. -
Star Wars Database
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to The Great Phantom's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Writers have better things to do "fans" dont. :D -
Well the devs are the ones with the power to include things. You on the other hand, well you can post until your fingers bleed but that wont change what went into KOTOR II. Unless of course they decide a flying molelobster is stupid too and change it to something else. If something is stupid it's best to ignore it rather than to propagate it. As you yourself have alredy said it looks stupid Obsidian got it right. Whatever fantasies you might have involving the molelobster are not their primary concern.
-
You just typed that it looked stupid. Well since I have no fear of someone coming along and forcilbly inserting it into my copy of KOTOR II I wont be losing sleep over that. You missing the point anyway whether it's unoffical and stupid or official and stupid does not change that it is stupid. So approval means nothing to me.
