What fundamental force power would you want
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to dufflover's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Force pull, be handy for when the remote falls off the sofa and onto the floor. -
I'll just say ewww....

The first one took a heck of a long time to build compared to the second one it looks pretty well deathstar like in the EPIII shot and yet its another 18-19 years before they get it operational... The reason the fighters could fly into mkII is because the second one was unfinished. Thats why it had the energy shield from Endor for protection.Once complete presumably it didnt have an exhaust port placed at the end of a trench. If you have a console that can run the EPIII game a lot of the sequences in the game are better than those in the film.

Very true. Kreia actually made me question my beliefs which isnt something that normally occurs in a game. When playing lightside first time I used to dread visits to her because what she said made sense and that frightened my character far more than a horde of dark Jedi ever could. By being the knight in shining armour I was becoming strong at the expense of others and making them reliant on me rather than self reliant. Which in the long term did them more harm than good.

Bring back choose your own adventure books
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Darth Tater's topic in Way Off-Topic
They still exist. In many ways they are more the precursor of CRPGs than PnP is. -
I think it was his father who held Yoda in high regard. Chewy was just there as a cameo. No idea though he came across as a prototype Darth Vader to me. The hacking cough made that worse but It's also the organic/mechanic connection. I guess he was created by Dooku and/or the emporer. In the clone wars cartoon he's way more fearsome and he's being personally trained by Dooku as a Jedi killer. Because they are Jedi even if they are children. You cant purge the Jedi and leave the next generation alive. Why did Anakin do it? Maybe they wanted people to not feel sorry for him when he fell. And to give Obi enough of an incentive to run after him. Although to me it felt really heavy handed. Vader as the tragic fallen hero was much more worthy than Vader the child killer. I dont think they got all of them. Thats why Yoda and Obi deactivated the becon in the temple. The film ended too early in the timeline really. If Bali Organa had been declared traitor at that point then why did it take nearly 20 years to get around to Alderon? Leia was a senator yet the senate was disbanded much earlier according to EPIII. You have about as much time between the end of EPIII and the start of EPIV as you do between EPI and EPIII.

RE 4 is one of the top titles of this generation on any platform. If not for Zelda then it may well have been the best title on the GC. For the first few hours shooting people in certain locations made me wince.

I did say from me. You cant really disagree with that since I wasnt refering to anyone but myself :D Since I read them while reading the thread and they are in no way disguised or contained it seems quite pointless to hide something that you would have already read a couple of posts up. It wasnt me who posted that Zu croaks first I simply responded to it. Likewise I didnt give the game away about the betrayer either. It's simply one of those risks you take when it comes to message boards.

***SPOILER*** TAGS Shadow! You talk about "drama", but it's exactly those types of plot spoilers which result in anit-climatic experiences for others. You really ought to know better. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you didnt see those coming anyway I would be suprised. Nothing said about FFX isnt there from the start. You know there is something more to the summoners journey from the off, you just dont know what it is... The on topic part is pretty clear. If you try to force your story then it dosnt provoke an emotion from me byond rolling my eyes at the ineptitude of the writers. Since those things had already been openly spoiled anyway further up the thread. Little point in using spoiler tags if you ask me.

Two wins hands down. If there is one thing I hate in a supposed RPG it's having to play stupid until the plot catches up with what I know. If it has nothing to do with in game clues then thats ok , i'm a sharp cookie with lots of RPG experience and I tend to see through plots. Cant blame the writers for that. But when they effectively have ye olde plot twist and do all but illumiate it with a neon sign it dosnt make me a happy camper. Shryke really nailed what seperates KOTOR I and KOTOR II. KOTOR I your better off not paying attention, in KOTOR II paying attention is a requirement of piecing together the story.

Jade Empire was too obvious in typical bioware style. Way too many clues that your teacher had programmed into your training a flaw that anyone with enough skill could exploit. The only thing I felt playing that was the same sort of oh here we go again being manipulated like in KOTOR. Better story than Jade Empire, FFX , ShadowHearts II etc. JE comes way down on the best story list. Arch is pretty much on the money Jade Empire was a huge disapointment for so many reasons. Not least Biowares clumsy storytelling and the same lets give the game away for anyone paying attention... For Drama cant beat the creeping fear felt the closer you got to Zanarkand and that moment of shock when you realise what the summoners journey is really about in FFX. In Jade the characters flet like nothing more than storytelling devices. They sat around in combat and the stood around waiting to spoonfeed you the next bit of "story". When Zu popped off, which he didnt really need to do as Deaths Hand was a wuss when I finally got to fight him. It just smacked of Obi Wan Kinobi. I even said I bet he pops up later in the game to bail you out.

Yeah you will, there is a mini movie which comes with part II which fills in all the events in part one. Still why they wouldnt start with part one is beyond me but thats the way it is right now. Bit like sqenix and the still not available FFIII no real logic there either since all the others have been released in various formats. -
It's kind of amusing when you think about just how much blood and effort went into our democracy. And yet people expect a totally sanitised solution these days without any problems. It's true that the people have very little concept of what democracy actually means. Compromise and fundamentalism are not what you would call bedfellows.

Who said they get 20 more points of strength. Wasnt me. Changes in relationships in combat need to be reflected by stats. Thats because stats are at the heart of roleplaying systems. Whether or not it is powergaming is on the part of the individual. Nothing inherently makes it so. Develop a combat bond with someone regardless of the stat increases it's roleplaying. Develop one soley to get those bonuses and it's powergaming. No different to any other aspect of RPGs. FireEmblem solves it by only giving supports to those who would logically have such relationships. It's a powergaming safeguard.

Only thing I recall was feeling quite bad about killing those diseased villiagers, but they had to go. It really depends what they do. Like in Star Wars if Anakin hadnt gone on a child murder spree I would have seen him much more as a tragic hero who was trapped by the love for his wife. But that was more evil than anything Darth did in EPIV-VI. I'd have still put him out of his missery at the end though. I'm just not that big on suffering regardless.
-
Well it is , whether or not you see it. Battle relationships are a fundamental of all RPGs right back to PnP.
-
Yes. Certain characters will support faster than others depending on the hidden factors. Atton may have a very high affinity with a female PC where as the Handmaiden may have a very low one which would mean it would take longer for that bond to develope. Higher bonuses, access to new support feats, new moves etc. There is a variation of it in ShadowHearts II. At first it requires almost super human reflexes to pull off combo attacks. The longer the characters spend together the longer the delay becomes between button presses. At maximum relationship it's easier than the hit wheel. Very good way to spice up combat.

using the word children would have pushed the ratings up. I never really saw Darth as the child killing type.. Even in EP IV when alderan gets blown up he's not actually the one giving the order. The EPIII game Jedi Temple scene is much better than the one in the film. I suppose they needed something extreme to make Obi Wan go chasing after him..
